http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/stephen-kings-be-adapted-by-334899 Apparently this was announced a while back, but I just heard about it because they finally found a director in Cary Fukunaga.
Biggest news outside of that: it's being released in 2 parts. Presumably being the first one focusing on them as kids fight IT, and the second being the adult story.
I'm conflicted by this news. I loved the book, and I know a much better adaptation can be done than what we have. The mini series left out so much of the important ideas that the book is based around.
However, I can't imagine anyone else but Tim Curry in the role of Pennywise. He played the part to perfection and made the movie.
I will say that I'm glad they're making it into two parts, which will result in about 4-5 hours of total runtime. Obviously it still won't be enough to cover the book, and Mike's role is probably going to be highly diminished, since his main role in the novel were the retrospectives, but think I'll be okay with that.
Anyway, thoughts on this news, the book, and the original mini series?
