From the official One Piece site, a new opening called "Wake Up!" by AAA will start on the 19th of January (episode 629).

I just can't help but feel that this is bullshit since it's being announced at such short notice. I can only hope that I'm wrong.
I stand corrected, I guess it's legit then. Hopefully it's better than "Hands Up" :getlost:, I just didn't feel that opening at all.

What a pleasant surprise, and given the themes of the Dressrosa arc that's a very fitting title.

Last time, with Hands Up, we had to wait at least 2 months after the beginning of Punk Hazard with We go, now, instead, it seems they want to give a new opening to DressRosa arc, which is already a fantastic one.

I see they broke the news about the new opening today. Kind of funny story why the article was up and then down but it's definitely true. I was present for some of the sound work.

Finally. I never really liked We Go and having it played for what feels like years really grated on me lol. I still didn't fully understand why that company wouldn't allow funimation to use it.
Please let them make good use of all these characters that appear in Dressrosa. Hands Up really didn't have too much of that, so I hope at least this one can focus a bit more on characters besides the Straw Hats.

No, they did a crappy remix of the original "We Are". The original was done by the same guy who sang "We Go".

I'm extremely excited for this! I've been wondering what style of music the producers would go for during the Dressrosa arc. Based on what we know AAA's style to be, I'm not expecting a huge departure from standard J-Pop fare but I really hope we get some spanish guitar and castanets at the very least.
