Law and Robin would make such a cute couple – I can’t be the only one who sees the potential in those two right?
What a great chapter! How will the newly-introduced dwarves fit into the overall picture is something that I’m very much looking forward to. The topic of discrimination and inequality has always been a major theme in the One Piece, and I suspect this intense debate will come into play again with the unveiling of the mysterious beings.
One Piece Chapter 710 "To Green Bit"
-
-
Albeit all the speculation of the little folks being dwarves, I prefer them to be smaller folks (i.e., lilliputian-like). Fits better for them to be mistaken as fairies.
-
I thought it was a great chapter, first off I'm loving Bellamy's character this arc and am sure hey'll be doing a lot more later on dispite his loss, his and Luffy's bro like relationship has been fun
Group Law is getting good, of course Law's ideas will blow up in his face sooner or later, still nice one. I like Usopp's/Law's interactions, I'm shocked how well Law is taking Usopp's freak outs
I think Law made the best choices of people to go with him on this mission, he likely already knows what the entire crew is like by now, Monster Trio for this type? NoXD
Will we see Law V.S Dof round 1 next week? Maybe at least foreshadowing of it, with Dof showing up some what.
I'm thinking next few chapters will keep setting up plots for the others, than back to the tournament. I, myself am loving the tournament and all the characters, can't wait to see Luffy's fight soon FYI.
-
Something I saw in the color page for this chaper though is continually reinforcing the opinion I hold that Robin and Zoro will get together at some point. If you noticed, she was holding a sword. And somebody else pointed that out too and he had a really good argument for it. Going to the chapter though, I'm glad that the story finally changed focus away from the tournament and towards other parties in the group. Ironically this is the funniest I've found CC to be, him and Usopp having to get along the way that they were. And Robin is gorgeous in that outfit, WOOHOO!
-
I gotta say, Usopp and Caesar make a good pair.
-
To any Japanese speakers, are these things fairies or dwarves?
-
Bellamy didn't do anything, really. He was a douchebag, he got humbled, and now he's no longer a douchebag. Lots of people do it. Real life examples abound, including in my own life. Luffy only beat him up because he messed with Cricket. There's no reason Luffy would continue to hold a grudge against him.
-
Dressrosa people said "fairies." Robin's word is "dwarf" (same as the race listed for auction at Sabaody). They're clearly the same thing though (very fast + steal things + childlike voices).
-
So it can be presumed that Dressrosans (-rossians?) think they're fairies, but they're actually dwarves?
-

Uh, except that Robin is shown with or close to Franky most of the time.

Does the Dwarves' speech pattern match the one of the unknown occupant of the Men's Quarters on TS?
-
Such a great chapter! So happy that this focused on non-tournament stuff (yeah, I'm with the people that aren't pleased with it, I'd rather get to the plot which has thus far been so damn interesting).
Bellamy was really interesting this chapter, and this definitely adds more value to the Skypiea arc as a whole.
Caesar Clown being forced to be a balloon was hilarious. He surprisingly makes for an interesting hostage. :)
Loved Robin in this chapter, from being curious about Law to being entertained about Usopp up to his usual stuff.
I hope we at least get a little bit more of Green Bit in the next chapter. Gahhhhh just so excited that One Piece is BACK! :D
-
Albeit all the speculation of the little folks being dwarves, I prefer them to be smaller folks (i.e., lilliputian-like). Fits better for them to be mistaken as fairies.
I will be the first to say I don't know whaat Japanese word is used for fairy or dwarf, or if they are separate ideas in Japanese mythos.
I'm really hoping that Dwarves and Fairies are linked but separate … like how merfolk and fishmen are linked but separate. Merman + fishwoman or mermaid + fishman can have a baby that is one or the other race. The two have separate racial characteristics despite them interbreeding for generations due to 'strong genes' (as Den says to Franky)
Reason why I want them to be separate and not the same? Simple personal choices, that's all.
I think of fairy as often carefree, often really small (modern image ala Tinkerbell) but not always esp in the past (taller ones of old English myth were more aloof and dangerous 'beyond mortal understanding') tricky mischievous beings. While dwarves were stocky warriors and weapon makers ala Norse mythos, LotR and Forgotten Realms (those are the ones I paid attention to, know there are more like the DnD ect) -
So it can be presumed that Dressrosans (-rossians?) think they're fairies, but they're actually dwarves?
I'm pretty sure "Dwarf" in this case more refers to "Short people" than beard-sporting 4-foot-tall Hammer-wielding badass worshippers of Moradin.
So i think its more the other way around.

Bellamy developed haki in skypeia!
-
I don't think this whole "sensing Haki" thing is new.
Rayleigh could use CoO to determine just how many animals on the island were stronger than Luffy when they were training. He probably used their Haki in order to gauge that. Bellamy being able to sense how strong Luffy's Haki is is probably the same idea. Especially since they practice CoO on skypiea so Bellamy could have picked it up there.
Overall great chapter. Looking forward to seeing Law's plan in action.
-
I'll wait to see how this will turn out, but for now the so-called "dwarves", or "fairies", sound more like the "little people" from celtic folklore: dwarves, elves, fairies, brownies… call them whatever you like, they all are depicted as short, quick, difficult to see and so on.
-
BTW, isn't this like a pretty huge thing? I always thought the first "haki" mention in the manga was when Shanks met Whitebeard.
Is this confirmed?

@Fire Fist:

They all speak like children, but the one in this chapter has a weird quirk about saying "resu" instead of the copula "desu" (and kurasai instead of kudasai). The one(s) on the ship didn't do that, so that, at least, is probably something unique to this Leo.
-
So the cute fairies I had in mind (the ones known from fairy tales) turned into dwarfs (LotR comes to mind)… the sound of something breaking
-
i guess 'green bit' is habitat of dwarf.
-
I really do like the chapter. I still love the bellamy and luffy part. Bellamy got some good momonts so far, so i have nothing against him being alive and being a tournament participant.I wonder why bellamy mentioned luffys very strong haki. Is it really that impressive? So luffy trained very hard based on this line…harder than we thought maybe? It totally makes sense that bellamy got CoO, he learned/ learned about it probably on skypia. Bellamy could be a born evil dude who wiches to change? But ones nature can't change that much i guess. Same with usopp. It's his nature to be scared, so he needs to motivates/forces/self conquests himself to be brave.Unlike some other people, i really want see the next blocks. I just don't consider them as fodder. At least the named ones ^^. I am very interested in them. But i also do like the Green Bit stuff, so it's bearable ^^

Does anyone know if Oda ever said anything about him regretting taking shank's arm?
-
Seems like Bellamy got CoO.. He can even sense danger from King Punch, but fail to avoid it..
@notomi:Does anyone know if Oda ever said anything about him regretting taking shank's arm?
Why must he?

Can't remember anything like that. I guess that he didn't regret it at all. Do you have a problem with it?

Cool..
I just can't understand some people. :wassat: -

At first, Oda didn't have an idea that Shanks lost his arm.
However, editor Kushima said to Oda, "it's not catchy enough".Oda decided to take his arm. But I don't know whether Oda is regretting it.

Thanks sandman for actually answering my question unlike the two half-assed answers above yours.

Sure, but different actions require different amounts of energy. How much strain does Law feel when he's using the Ope Ope no Mi?
This drawback was pretty much created to justify Law not overusing his powers, and to show that he suffers physical exertion when using his powers (which wasn't something obvious to showcase, so it had to be mentioned).
It was obvious.
-
Since we getting Dwarfs and Fairies highlighted and Green Bit does look all mysterious then in that way "Green Bit" will likely hold other types of creatures like Minkmans and Snakeneck Tribe.
Going with the List someone posted back on Sabondy for the Human Auctioning House
Since the NW we've also seen some heck of Creatures from Fishmen/Mermaids, Dragon (Artificial), Harpy (Monet), Yeti's and now Dwarfs and Fairies … So whats next other than Giants?

But does that mean they can tell how strong someone is without fighting him?

But does that mean they can tell how strong someone is without fight him?
I guess so. Like Luffy knew about Fujitora's strength, how he sensed Caribo's presence equivalent to a wild animal, how Sanji confused Kinemon's weak presence with all the fishes around.

Desu > resu (or Da- row in general to Ra- row) is a stereotype of 舌足らず, like a kid who has issues pronunciating.
Not very PC but sometimes used for retarded characters lisping, for example Athena 2gou in Rance series (who is extremely intellectually challenged) talks that way.…..or the misakura-go. Don't google it at work CCC. NSFW
(Replacing da- with ra- because the girl is cumming so hard she can't speak straight) -

Any chance his name is actually Deo, then? Ha ha.
And no. No googling anything at work. My computer screen faces right out into the main aisle of the office.

Which website are you using to reread One Piece?

Gosh I'm rereading OP and sometimes I have to stop or skip pages because of the translation…

Can you explain im confused
All of Usopp's early (during introduction arc) lies kept on proving true gradually throughout the entire series.
With those two linked by the person you quoted left, only the alien one remains, which most likely foreshadows Enel's return at some point which I'm really anticipating. In case you haven't seen the others, here you go.

Correction…........ Crouching Panda..... Hidden Dwarves
Shouldn't that be…....Crouching Fairy ...Hidden Dwarf :ninja:

This translation is incorrect, in the Viz edition Blackbeard never mentions Haki.

Unfortunately in the Eiichiro Oda edition he does.

And yet that doesn't change the fact that the word 'haki' is in the speech bubble. The guy that posted the pic even put a helpful little arrow pointing right at it. You don't even have to be able to read Japanese to know that, since the kanji has helpful little hiragana next to it, so just look up a chart; ha-ki, haki.

Would you mind translating Haki for us Panda Bear.

Well, I don't really speak Japanese myself, but I believe it's something that you actually leave untranslated, like 'nakama'; there just isn't a word in English that can capture the majesty conveyed by the original Japanese.
-
Leaving it as "haki" is a stylistic choice made once a whole power system was named after said word.

Is this a sarcastic post. Because the bolded tells me "yes".
