My thoughts on this arc so far are well known. I have loathed everything about the tournament. So much so, that I thought it had been going on for ages. Thus, I was really surprised when I realized it has only been 8 chapters. So, over the 2 week break I re-read Dressrosa to date, and I found that, while it was slightly more enjoyable, I just still wasn't having it. I decided to read 710 and then take a break for a couple of months.
But then 710 happened.
It started off perfect, with that amazing colorspread. I just stared at it for an incredibly long time. Then we only spent 1 page on the tournament mess, and it was quite a good page. But then, my god, it happened. The best chapter since 701. The art was amazing, especially how Oda drew Green Bit. I just stared and stared at everything in this chapter. The comedy was top notch–easily the best it has been since 701. And the plot developments! Oh how they make me want the next chapter now!
This chapter is exactly why I was excited when Dressrosa. Seriously, how can you look at this chapter and be excited by the tournament in comparison? I just don't get it.
This chapter pulled me back in a big way. While I still wish the tournament had never happened, and while I still think it's the biggest momentum killer in the entire series, I am willing to slog through it, because it means we'll get more chapters like this. And I really am convinced that when this whole arc is said and done, the tournament arc won't bother me, because my biggest issue with it is having to sit through it means we get less focus on all the other plotlines which are infinitely more interesting.
All I can say is, this chapter pulled me back in. It was perfect. (For me, at least.) I give it 10 Caesar Mustaches.

People might remember how I bitched about Nami's & Usopp's "time in the sun" when they captured the already beaten Caesar, almost like kids hitting a piniata under careful watch. It felt forced and degrading to the characters involved, mainly due to the presence of Law..
I didn't think it was "degrading" at all. Usopp and Nami simply aren't that good at fighting as the rest. Fighting is not everything you know. They trained so they could hold their own in the New World and not make the others worry, but Nami's main contribution is being a navigator, and Usopp is…well, just an all-around fun guy, not to mention the common sense part of the crew. That scene only becomes degrading if you assume fighting skill is the most important thing for any character. Otherwise it's just in good fun.

Something like that. Blackbeard sensed Luffy's haki, all the way back in Jaya. It was the reason why he was surprised when Luffy said his bounty was only 30 million (Luffy didn't know it had increased to 100 million yet). Around the time the chapter was released, translators weren't leaving Haki untranslated, so most people would have missed it.

Bellamy acknowledges Luffy's haki, but where did he see him use it? Does this mean haki users can sense the hakilevel of another? It would be in line with Luffy instantly realizing Fujitoras strength, but then again, recognizing threats was always one of his perks (even prior to the introduction of Haki). Another possibility is that Bellamy witnessed his clash with Don Chinjao, but Luffy didn't use any hardening attacks against him. Whatever it is, I just hope this doesn't evolve into some kind of Dragonball Ki-level sensing shit.
It's pretty much already like that. Since CoO can sense a person's spirit or aura and see how strong it is, it isn't far-fetched to be able to tell who can use haki or not with that ability.
Oda finally adds a badly needed drawback to the Ope Ope fruit, but this is what he comes up with? "The fruit drains my
chakra magoi ki reiutsuenergy". Really? Not exactly creative, but I guess he had to resort to such a simple weakness in order to give Robin & Usopp a reason to act. Not happy with it, but better than nothing… I guess.
What would you rather have, honesty? "Creating all of these rooms drains my energy" is a pretty good explanation, and considering how big and fast those fish where moving it was pretty smart to not waste his time with them and rather save it for Doflamingo and the Marines.

But when this started I felt like it had the potential to be the best, and I still do, but I don't think that potential lies in this tournament. Once again, my biggest problem with it is that we got a few amazing chapters that culminated in the phenomenal, best chapter of the series, 701. Oda set up all these interesting plot lines, and then–nothing. They are all pushed to the wayside for a tournament. And then, we're all supposed to assume this tournament was a trap for Luffy, despite how that makes absolutely no sense.
I don't want to see the tournament. I want to see chapters like this. I want to see who was on the Thousand Sunny a few chapters ago. I want to see what CP0 is up to. I want to see if Sanji's been stabbed at. What is Zoro up to? I know we will, but I don't want to have to sit through this tournament to get to those things.
Then again, I am the guy who doesn't read One-Piece for the fights. I enjoy a good one (of which there hasn't been a single good fight so far in this tournament, mainly because there hasn't even been a legitimate fight) but I'm reading One-Piece for the story and the adventure and the comedy and the Romance!
We're excited by everything in this arc.

I agree with Nex that the tourney has been underwhelming because of the lack of real fights yet. It's just been a bunch of dudes getting jobbed all over the place, and that's honestly pretty boring to read despite all of the fun powers and goofy character designs. I'm hoping Luffy's part will be more interesting since Chinjao didn't go down in one hit and is determined to kill him.

I still personally believe Luffy unconsciously used Observation haki when he punched Bellamy in is jaw at Jaya. He could be referring to that. Other than that I really can't see where Bellamy could have seen it.
Great chapter! A lot of developments. Looking like a friendship is forming between Luffy and Bellamy, I think whatever ever happens with the whole Donflamingo thing will definately involve Bellamy somehow. Bartolomeo's reaction was interesting, Oda has so many things planned for this arc it's ridiculous.
Great interraction between the "Caeser Exchange Team". Good to see Robin and Usopp involved in some of the action. I'm not sure about dwarves, I was thinking those weird quick things were fairies from the start (much like everyone else). Also good that Oda has justified Law's immense power with fatigue (so he can cut mountains but not as often as a big timer). Wonder what the marines are doing.
I'm liking this arc a lot, a lot of things going on.

it's not like he uses it for 2 minutes and he runs out his energy…is jusst that a battle against doflamingo can last a very long time and he will need all the energy he has against him.

Anyway, awesome chapters. Who'd have though dwarves were going to be so teeny-tiny and fast! Looking forward to maybe eventually actually seeing one! 
Convinced now that Bellamy definitely WILL be significant despite his loss. And Barto's reaction … not sure what to read into that.
Seeing the team beat up fish was cool - specifically, USOPP IS PURELY REUSING POP GREENS yessssssss! Now, please, no more new pop greens, at least for the next 500 chapters 
And if it's not too much to ask, a few classic attacks and dials mixed in when Usopp gets a real fight please~ (that won't happen, will it?)
And Law's power has a vague limitation ... considering how much he abused it on Punk Hazard, it's pretty obvious this is just an excuse to say law can't do anything for now, and to perhaps actually incapacitate Law later due to power overuse.
Green Bit looks cool! But what's Law up to? Did he actually want the marines there? To betray the SHs? (unlikely) Or else maybe to cause Doflamingo trouble? Or maybe it was just a test to see if Smoker would say anything to the higher ups about his destination . . .
And how did the battleship get there? O.o Maybe the goaded a fighting fish into launching them up the cliffs in one hit? Or else they had a person on board who could launch a battleship, I guess.
Such a fun chapter~ My fear is Oda will avoid showing us a fairy/dwarf next chapter by switching to Luffy or Franky or Sanji ... but hopefully we'll see all of the fairy/dwarf encountering teams instead We HAVE been waiting for it a while after all.
Man, it was quite a break…but this chapter was worth it! Such an awesome chapter! Loved the color spread w/ "Fist of Fury" Luffy, "Game of Death" Sanji, and the rest of the kung-fu theme. XD Seeing Bellamy acknowledge Luffy's change was a very nice touch, and his talk of his "pride" just gave off this "Vegeta-vibe" though that's just me. And stuff w/ Law's team was very entertaining. Ceaser going from a total creepy madman to this over-the-top comedic hostage just works so well that it doesn't even feel forced to me. He's just a big goofball...and w/ his "balloon" ability...I kinda wish he would've hung out w/ the crew more. I can imagine him being forced to use his "balloon" to lower the Sunny down slowly after a Coup de Burst. XDD Hopefully, we get to see how these Dwarves look soon. And also...Robin be looking fine~ (like always)! X3

How is this a good explanation? During Punk Hazard he spammed rooms allover the place, even had 2 rooms up at a time (to teleport to the entrance with Chopper). Still with breaks inbetween, he fought Smoker, fought the Cool Bro's, used his powers on the Straw Hat's, fought Vergo, sliced the facility in half and still had enough energy to potentially capture Caesar on his own. All while having his heart crushed multiple times on different occasions.
It works as an excuse for why he didn't use his abilities on the fighting fish (and to hype Doflamingo), but that's it. Nothing creative about it. Imho, the best option would have been to keep his powers in check in the first place, like keeping the size of his room at Saobody level. All the fun new tricks, but still limited by an average sized room.
Anyway, since he said he can run out of power he inevitably will, so lets wait and see till he gets into detail. "I can run out of energy" doesn't leave much room for interpretation though.
I'm going to say that the dwarves is little…like a Lilliputian or maybe the smiths in wizard101 lol. Maybe the place is one that have diff fantasy creatures.

For the same reason i don't get why you loathe the tournament so much. Thank God people don't need to understand each other to coexist.
I don't really see it as a weakness for Law. It's simply him saying he needs all his power for a confrontation with Doflamingo.
Isn't it often used in stories that ones companions are shielding someone till this someone can face the big bad? But maybe I'm mixing something up.
Btw, wouldn't it be hilarous if that was not the case and than the hero would be to exhausted to fight the demon king and is easily killed by him?
Is there another series that has their first tournament 700 chapters in? I just really enjoy this arc so much right now its quite odd. Maybe the waiting periods have also given me practice with patience too haha
Overall: Nice change of pace from the tournament. I really am stoked for this exchange. I hope Dolflamingo shows up with some of his best guys. Yup.

Not sure what to make of Law's "weakness"… Like Jabra said, he was spamming his power left and right without issues and it didn't look like it hurt him much, so I find it weird that this could be an issue now. Though if it drains it little by little, it makes sense that the others fight since Law will have to fight Doflamingo soon. I am guessing here, that we will get to see some if not all of the SH's in the next few chapters, then we get to see what happens in Group C. Once Group C is over, it may take it back to Law's group going back and as it was stated, that's when Doflamingo and Law may have to fight one another.
Hopefully we won't see a Law fighting marines/VA's/CP0 and draining his power, then he fights DD on his way back and loses. That's.. anticlimactic. Or maybe DD knows this about Law's power and has set up his crew members to fight Law so he is depleted by the time he is walking back. I'd like to know whose stronger between the two and not a half assed excuse on why they couldn't go at it full strength.
Overall pretty good chapter though! 
I don't really care for Bellamy and still find him a douche, even though Oda is turning yet another bad guy into a friend…

Some more interaction between Bellamy and Luffy. I didn't really get the "my pride is tarnished because you cheered me on" part, but he was smiling so that's okay-ish I guess.
Barto being surprised to hear Luffy's name could mean anything, really. Anybody nowadays would jump at hearing that name.
At last, Green Bit! Daaamn it looks awesome. And when I finally looked at Law and co to compare them to the size of the island I saw that Usopp was right. Those plants are HUGE.
Then, WOW, Dwarves!? Really!? They've been foreshadowed since like what? Chapter 30?? Mentioned three times in the story (Usopp, Norland in Skypiea flashback, and then Sabaody Auction list), and now we will finally get to see them! I can't wait!
It might very well be true that the Dwarves are really the fairies, and that there is one on the Sunny right now. We'll see.
Next week we might be in for a Dwarf reveal, unless Oda decides to switch over to other scenes for now. Really excited!
We might also see the beginning of a new cover story, unless this one is not done yet.
Question here, though: do the time indicators for Green Bit give us any indication about how much time should have passed in the tournament? Might give us a better idea of how long the B block actually took.
