Okay, I give up. Once again I'm having problems with my DVD burner. Last time it gave me an error message when I tried to burn something, but upgrading my software took care of that problem. Now, just a few months later, some DVDs I've burned come out with some serious flaws. The picture and sound will pause periodically, but will resume playing on their own if you wait for a few seconds. Sometimes the pausing will be so bad the movie won't play again and it freezes the browser I'm viewing it in if I'm watching it on my computer.
One disc had pausing that progressed into this particular behavior to the point that it took me repeated attempts to remove it from my DVD player before the drawer finally opened. Then when I put it back in, it wouldn't read the disk, even though it had read it just fine previously. It read the next DVD I put in just fine, and the disk with the errors on it wouldn't work in the DVD player in my computer, either. Then I tried it one more time in the livingroom DVD player and it read the disk but was unable to play the last episode I had on there. The next disk worked just fine exept for some slight pausing towards the end of the last episode.
I don't know if this is a software problem or a hardware problem. I don't think it's the files I'm using because if I try and re-record the same ones on a new disk, they usually turn out all right. After spending $200 to upgrade my software I'm a little pissed that this is happening. Can anyone help me out? I'm using Sonic's My DVD 6 Deluxe for software and I don't know what brand DVD burner I have, but it came installed in my computer from Dell if that's any help at all. I'm running Windows XP sp2, I have approximately 77 GB of free hard drive space, and I'm using JVC DVD+R discs, if any of that helps at all. Thanks in advance.
