Jiraya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade (including their toad, snake and slug connections) is also based on a folktale, as are all the variations of the sharingan moveset like Susanoo, Amaterasu, and Tsukuyomi. They pop up all the time in various media and go back thousands of years.

The 108 warriors of the marsh alone could expand this dead series for another 5 or 6 years. They could be a rival ninja clan from across the sea after Tobi is defeated. Or imagine a ninja version of Lu Bu! And the Battle of Red Cliffs!

In the episode where Jet meets the daughter of an old friend, they're used as a crucial clue to finding a location. Its the one with all the talk about Feng shui and finding directions. However, the original anime just assumes everyone knows what the directions gods are and doesn't explain it at all, so the dub doesn't explain it either and its completely glossed over.
It's pretty much lost on the English audience.

… Isn't Kagutsuchi the technique Sasuke used to control Amaterasu? That is his secong Mangekyo technique instead of Tsukuyomi.

I thought it was OK. Don't think the Juins being like Horcuxes was every hinted at, but I guess it sort of makes sense. Could've been done better, like Sasuke could've copied Edo Tensei with his Sharingan and used that to revive Orochimaru. Really curious to see who they're going to, so I hope the story sticks with them for now, instead of going to Naruto or the Kages.
Is Kishimoto's master plan to spend so much time on Sasuke that people are actually happy to see Naruto bail everyone out for once?

Also, the SS really have been reduced to fodder, everyone is depending on Ichigo now.
Finally, Kirge is killed, only why didn't Kubo just let him die the last chapter, if it doesn't change anything. No doubt, Ichigo will probably leave for SS once again, so what was the point of that.
I take my previous statement back, both Naruto and Bleach are equally horrible.

Naruto - As much as I like Orochimaru as a villain, I see no point of him being there except stalling the plot, regardless of how important the thing is what Sasuke wants to know/do. Sasuke's wish to take revenge makes no sense as always. Sort of really mediocre.
