It dawned on me that app games are getting bigger and bigger nowadays in the gaming market due to the huge increase in smart phones. Should we put on the same level as the other four big consoles yet?
A Game app thread stickied in the game section amongst the other big consoles?

Make a thread and see if it gets any attention. We don't live in an Orwellian community where you have to ask for an authorized permission to do anything at all.

It wasn't so much about the making of the thread, but the idea that gaming apps are on par with other gaming franchises. I wanted a bit of feedback first. But yeah, maybe just seeing how busy it gets should dictate whether or not it should be stickied.
Thank you my feathered friend.

Naruto sells more copies worldwide (Japan excluded) than OP ever does, some video game franchises are absolutely ginormous and make huge profits each year, certain movies and TV series have gained massive followings all across the globe, and issues such as foreign politics or economy dictate the lines of conversation on public platforms in many places - yet none of these have stickied threads here, and for a good reason.
A forum such as AP is a community of individuals who have differing interests, some of which can be said to be collective and some that are more niche in variety. We can't really presume that what is popular out there attracts similar attention here. And it is, generally speaking, only the common topics of discussion that should be stickied, warranted for by their larger activity. Stuff like consoles usually have people discussing them, but despite the growing popularity of mobile gaming everywhere it's still only accessible to few, and would those few be largely represented in our userbase there would likely be a bustling thread on the subject.
If it becomes a popular thread, why not, but stickying something just because it has the potential of being popular here (which is what counts) isn't all that necessary. shrugs

I don't mind this idea actually! Could be really fun, especially for sharing apps with a social aspect to it (for those who are willing).

The XBox thread barely deserves a sticky, it gets almost no activity. (It's only on page 19 after SIX YEARS) while any given pokemon thread tends to go for about a hundred pages when a new game comes out, the final fantasy thread and the What Are You Playing threads are at about 200 pages each after several years… but their natural activity keeps them on the front page anyway. And in some of the other sections, some of the stuff stickied is only one post, but an important one.
Not everything warrants a sticky (the xbox one is mostly a courtesy) but go ahead and make a thread and see how it does.
I might consider sticking the what are you playing thread though, now that I think about it.

That makes sense. I've always just assumed consoles and alike would be more active, or newsworthy, but unless its about major bugs/hacking or new console or limited edition releases it's not that relevant past the first page or two for a long time.

Great call on this one, by the way, Robby. I always wondered why it wasn't stickied in the first place…
