No new One Piece Chapters for 2 weeks - Oda hospitalized for infected tonsils

Sure.

Sappy ramblings incoming. I'm pretty sure One Piece is directly correlated to a vast improvement in my life, if not the cause of it. Ever since I've read One Piece, my motivation has skyrocketed, causing me to want to do things I never would have dreamed of just even 3 years ago. I started waving away clouds of uncertainty and started really delving into things such as marathon running (when I first started running I couldn't even do it for 10 minutes), cooking, getting in-depth into things like music that I only had vague, normal interests in before. I used to be pretty aimless, just wanting to get through school if I could and be just… whatever. Now I have so many goals (a lot of them I'm actually getting close to achieving) that it's hard to even keep up with them sometimes. One Piece showed me that you don't have to take the beaten path for your life. You can take the other path that's a lot more dangerous, interesting, and fun. Also, no one can ultimately control your life. Just like Luffy crushed Vivi's Log Pose way back when, yelling, "nobody is going to decide where this adventure takes us!", you're the main person manning the wheel. Just be prepared to deal with certain consequences.

I understand Oda needs a break, and he definitely deserves it, but infected tonsils shouldn't take 2 weeks in a hospital. You can surgically remove them and probably have to sleep in the hospital for about 1-2 days.. I have personal experience in this matter, I know.. unless its some type of rare infection that they would have to give a heavy dosage of antibiotics before they can do an operation. Either way, an infection in the tonsils wouldn't take 2 weeks of hospitalization. He should jut be honest and say I'm going on vacation, which he truly deserves.

He's not going to be in the hospital for anywhere near two weeks. No one (who would know) actually said that was he case. Most of that time will be spent resting at home while he deals with the pain (supposedly there will be a lot of it) and makes sure he properly gets over it.

I am imagining Oda spending his recovery time watching/reading a plethora of diverse and obscure materials and rubbing his hands together maniacally thinking of how he will add elements epically to his master plan…

I am glad it's something treatable, and I hope he takes good care of himself and that he is able to take a break to recover.

I imagine it's pretty brutal as well along with the fact that he's frequently ill, not to mention getting morbid rumors of him dead or dying from anything ranging to the flu all the way to cancer. Really scary stuff to hear.

For me that's the big one. In an ideal universe, Oda quits smoking, gets at LEAST gets 5-6 hours of sleep(the recommended minimum), and starts a simple workout morning routine of 10 push-ups, sit-ups, and jumping jacks along with a healthy diet every day.

This guy make's me goosebumps. What i hope most right now is that he doesn't push himself too much. This was really first time i got worried about him. I didn't know he work's 20 hours straight. He doensnt spend time with his family at all? This guy deserves much better. I understand if he loves the story that much or corporation makes pressure. He doesnt have to do this all for us.

Maybe we should start campaign for him to get some sleep.

Most likely, OP will seriously be his one and only manga (Oda has said before, but I haven't really realized how true it is).

This manga has taken so much from him to give to so many people. So I'm just hoping OP will finally be over and Oda can finally enjoy early retirement with his family (God knows he don't really need to work ever again with the money he earned from OP)

Man, first he was against SOPA and now he posts this apology. Oda is an example to follow, the embodiment of humility, someone who wants to please us regardless of his health. I've gained so much respect for this man!

That's because Oda is a normal (though really rich) guy. Have you seen pictures of him?

He looks like a super nerd, and doesn't wear fancy clothing whatsoever. He wears like…white/blue/black tea-shirts and basketball shorts; sometimes he wears hipster pants from like...70s America. lol

I've only seen him dress up once, and that was during a conference promoting Strong World.
