Oh don't tease, that's unkind of you.
I saw this flying up on Facebook in the early hours this morning. I thought the timer looked like the TWEWY style, but then I saw the URL and lost my shit. Yes yes yes yes and more yes (this is one of the games I loved to death but never expected a sequel!!!) Don't fuck this up, S-E, this is one of the very few games of yours I can stand >__>
Oh, one can just hope.
Yet another reason I need to pick TWEWY back up. Never actually finished it the first time around.
YESSSSSSSS.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS.
Gimme gimme gimme.
Hopefully this will warrant them producing more copies of the first one. Still can't find it at a decent price.

I managed to find a used and I bought it instantly, but I havent been motivated to play it seeing as I only bought it after I lost my first one which was practically a 100% game.
I'm guessing social browser/mobile game

Amazon sometimes gets it in for $20 new (I just snagged one), but that's the US version.
Dohoho you so silly.
You joke about it, but rumblings from the Asia zone are suggesting that as of this year, the cheap, microtransaction-based mobile/social games are absolutely dominating the profit margins over there. Over 75% of the mobile gaming business is happening in Japan/Korea/China and it's probably going to radically redefine the way the major Asian publishers look at franchising games. For all that hardcore gamers quake in terror/scoff through their noses at the idea of the Apple/tablet model ruling the gaming market in a few years, it's actually way closer to fruition in Asia.
Supposedly there are major pubs in Japan (SQE? Capcom? I dunno who) that are pretty much telling their creative directors, "if you want to start a new franchise, you must establish it first through a mobile game and only then will we follow up with a console title"

Based on what Capcom's doing right now.. I'd wager more on them. But SQE has been dabbing into the mobile market too… so who can say.
But TWEWY's gimmick relies soley on Dual screens.

It does… but I'd also say you could get by without the top screen button combo mashing character and get by with just the incredibly customizable stylus motion 6 attacks action character.
It wouldn't be the same gimmick no, but it was the funner part of the gameplay. I ended up ignoring the top screen a lot of the time except when I had to build combos for bosses.

It was a HUGE plot element of the first game though, they just can't get rid of it. They could make the partner run on AI though (which wouldn't bother me) and make the player "synchronize" with the AI for good combos or something.
I know it was a hate it or love it system, and it needed some tweaking (perhaps people would've preferred only having to control who had the light puck?) but TWEWY without 2 partners fighting is like Viewtiful Joe without the ability to manipulate the world.

Holy crap. I've been looking through this thread, reminiscing fondly about TWEWY, and I just now remembered the awkward dual-screen gameplay. It's almost as if I blocked it from my memory.
I got through the entire game, absurd bonus boss included, by focusing primarily on Neku and letting the AI generally do its thing apart from lining up Fusion Stars.
Honestly, the top part of the screen wasn't that hard to do while doing the bottom the screen at the same time.

It made my brain hurt.
Plus the bottom screen was so much more fun.

Try it, try it NOW. Go and face the fucking elephants and die. (as In Shiki-Joshua-Beat and Neku die)
The stupid light puck should had stoped the action where it wasn't, or the top screen be automatic all the time. That the game was genuinily good while facing such anoying mechanic it's evidence of the merit of the game.

But that's wrong…. Looks like someone wasn't shooting Jesus Beams left and right.:ninja:
Oh man, the crabs, the crabs THE CRABS THREW THEMSELVES AS FRISBEES AND KNOCKED NEW JESUS OUT OF THE SKY!
Eh, the about 40-50 different psy of about 300 pins were more fun that "left left left up left left left"
If they do stick with the top screen action, I'd like for there to be a better tutorial for how each character's quirk worked. Shiki's was easy enough, but Joshua's and Beat's were too complicated for a like "Ok this is how it goes, A. B. C. D. , there you're done, now go do it yourself" type oftutorial they gave us. (being able to call up the tutorial again would help too).
I did end up just largely ignoring the top screen like most in here, but I felt I wasn't getting as much out of the game as I could.
If I had to rate the difficulty of each partner, I would probably say Joshua>Shiki>Beat. Given that joshua's minigame was really inefficient in gathering stars..I just gave up and simply focused on where my enemies were (with a little help from food boosts). Shiki's game was somewhat challenging but still doable…the hints really helped in gathering stars. Don't get me started on Beat.
Anyway is the music difficult? It sounds different from the last time I heard it...like they added some details into it.
OH MY GOD! YES YES YES YES! I´m foaming in my mouth, i can´t wait. I loooooved the game so much.
I loved making a total flame deck and just filling the screen with crazy fire attacks that I could hold on the enemy. It was fun. And the fact you didn't have to use pins you didn't like, or could stick with whatever suited your style (I loved icicle spikes even long after they were innefective…)
It was like pokemon's combat choice crossed with Okami, but with real time action that make actual legit use of the styles. Which, when described like that... is pretty fucking amazing.
The top screen and the arrow minigames was pretty weak and distracting in comparison.
Speaking of TWEWY, I hope to god there's a $20-$30 NEW offer on Amazon around Black Friday or Christmastime, I don't think my mom would be willing to spend $40 on a 3-4 year old DS game.
(I'm talking about the first game, not this supposed sequel)
When I played it, when I decided to actually start doing the Top screen instead of just letting the AI do it, all I had to do was tap the (I'm left handed) Y or A buttons really fast and I'd pretty much get damage and combos from the Top screen much faster. And that was only when I busy paying attention to the bottom screen. I really didn't find it all that hard to do.
Those max damage light puck combos felt so beautiful.
Oh my god yes. I…I.. always knew this day would come...sniff
I wonder how involved the old characters will be in this...?

I pretty much focused on who had the light puck.
Though I found it much easier to focus on the top screen since dodging with Neku is pretty darn easy while going for the cards.
The top partner also came in handy when fighting those pesky fast enemies because they can't go anywhere.
I hated the blocking system for the top partner though.
And yeah… Beat's card game was too much to actually pay attention to. He's the one partner I did end up ignoring a lot.

I remember that to top it off, he had the worst bosses to face (Uzaki, taboo sho) and shitty defenses to boot.
Did you try Shiki's invicibility frames? They're way more effective (lasts longer) and are easier to time.

I gave up on Beat completely and just started healing a lot (which makes me feel pretty low).
And yeah, Shiki's dodging isn't so much the problem when looking at her, it's when I'm looking at Neku.
It's not like the enemies hardly ever made noise (teehee) when they attack. Either that or I couldn't hear the enemies over:
"Psychocane, you're so keen! Need some more CANDY CANE!"
The teaser site full song is on youtube now. It's a remix of twister and calling mixed together. Kind of overloaded on some parts by I kind of like that part at 2:45
DISAPPOINTMENT HAMMER KAPOW
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/08/24/the-world-ends-with-you-countdown-is-for-iphone-version/
Should I find it hilarious that Square decided that it was NECESSARY for a countdown to promote an ios version of this game?
I mean really…a countdown for a MERE port? Props to the Iphone folks, but golly...why the need to hype up a port with a countdown?
Square is such a terrible, terrible troll
Unless I am being trolled at the moment and the countdown is STILL for a sequel while an ios version is coming out.
It's times like this I am glad that I'm not a big TWEWY fan (I still like it though and wouldn't mind a sequel) because my heart would be absolutely crushed.
Alas, there was so much enthusiasm and happiness in this thread for a potential sequel. A shame they did the same thing with Chrono Trigger DS...
The guy who translated the original is suggesting that there might be more the countdown than that, so maybe there is still hope
I now hate the iPhone again.
Here's hoping that's not the only news.
How the heck is that going to work without a stylus? I find it hard to believe one could get through this game bare-handed without murdering their phone's touchscreen.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh yeah, Minamimoto's voice ''The world is garbage!''
I saw this coming.
At least it could be a port for 3DS.
Square just earned themselves a lot of hate. The fools.
Actually, if it's true, it sort of makes sense. I mean, why would you bother to make a generic "cryptic" countdown site…but have the title of the game as the URL?
Though just to be 100% sure, we can see what happens on Sunday. It could be Square just trolling some more~

The version of today sounds better than this one, maybe the version of tomorrow will be the best one?
One can just hope.
Just got my copy of TWEWY from Amazon, fuck iOS for all I care.
Well, at least Square isn't charging $30 for games made in RPG maker.
Thats something.

I thought that was gonna be a link to Corpse Party
Look upon thee and despair:
Perhaps they should, uh, bar rating and comments for that video?

HAHAHAHA I guessed we expected too much, so much for the hype train…at least the possibility of a sequel isn't out if it receives a warm reception.
Fucking square =_=
final fantasy 13 gets 2 sequels yet this gets nothing but a port
My desire to firebomb a company's HQ building has never been stronger.
I'm not even really THAT disappointed that TWEWY isn't getting a sequel. Rather, I'm more angry that all the hype and a counting was for something as meaningless and inane as a fucking iOS port.
