You know, that guy that absorbed a shitload of black Rukh back at that time and has been suspiciously absent. But I'm sure that won't play a part later.

I like to imagine the fight between Sinbad and Kouen that happened in another world, another story. A brilliant exchange of blows with both anomalies using their djinn to the fullest, switching between equips as the situation demands. And it would ultimately end with Sinbad emerging victorious, surely not unharmed mind you, killing Kouen and proving his supremacy.
In that same world the usage of magic would've evolved into something even more intricate and sophisticated. We'd be blown away on a weekly basis by the creativity flowing out of Ohtaka's pen. And extreme magic beams and lights and what have you would remain in Fairy Tail, where they belong.
Of course the flashback of Alma Toran would've been satisfactory and smartly executed. We'd probably hail it as one of the manga's finest pieces. Politics and the world's other nations would be of relevance, the Fanalis too I am certain, Alibaba wouldn't be Jesus, Gyokuen wouldn't be a joke, Hakuryuu would have been consumed by hatred only to ultimately die at Alibaba's hands (it would be an emotional masterpiece) and all kinds of other things would've been up to Magi's standards of old. Even Sinbad would've found a fitting conclusion.
I might just keep imagining that world.

It's like people would have thought Sinbad getting immortality in his own series was the right path to keep reading it. But i understand the feeling when you see something godly great through 300 chapters and ends as a spit in the ground, sort of laughable.

Well, that's actually not as disturbing as I expected it to be while watching untranslated chapter. I love how the tone of the series is changed yet again.
Despite Ohtaka making a mess of things here, I found myself enjoying the developments. You though Ugo was a nice guy? Fuck you and your expectations, lol. But seriously, I don't see him as a bad guy now, not necessarily.

There was no indication of him planning anything. Either Ohtaka messed up or got lazy or Sinbad did something to himself.
Like, maybe he used Zepar's magic on himself to fool David and Arba, gave himself the objective but made himself forget that he did it until it's complete. Can he even do something like that?
I'm too tired to try to look if there was any indication of him doing something like that. I know it seemed weird to me how he wondered why he's so calm.

Aladdin was so sad when the old lady died at the start of the series but felt at peace with it because it all felt part of a greater plan. The fact that there is a literal God that oversees this cycle with his own machinations and manipulations and that there are other beings vying for this top spot completely ruins any subtlety or inspiration it once had.
It's series ruining level of dumping on your main theme on the same level of Naruto being a chosen one or whatever bullshit Kubo came up with in Bleach.

I don't think what's happened to Ugo is too out of the realm of possibility. He was a regular person at one point. Loneliness can drive people insane. Plus he hasn't done anything 'evil' yet. Basically what this chapter confirmed is that Ugo is the current God of this world now but even he is below Solomon who created this world. Il illah was trying to take the place of both of them so Ugo slapped him and David down a bit.

Not gonna lie , there was a time I was mad at how the author decided to handle the Sinbad business(literally 2 chapters ago), bust have grown past that onto full-blown amusement. I think with this chapter it's clear Othaka flipped a switch and went full-blow Medaka box or Bleach. Taking the series seriously at this point would be a mistake. And it's not even an insult. I genuinely think she decided that stuff were getting to heavy and suddenly deciced to more easy-going with the conclusion.

What a weird interpretation you have
That inspiration should have been ruined in that Alma Toran arc when you found out that the "greater plan" was all the doing of Solomon once he became a "god". Chapter 232 to be exact, the same thing you feel brought he magicians to tears and it's the same reason Arba & company hate Solomon. Ugo himself has only been carrying out solomon's will this entire time. All he did take the power that people would consider "god" level and made that less than what was actually left to him by solomon as guardian of the sacred palace.I like how magi approaches these meta level concepts and depicts such ridiculously high levels of power. Compare a "god" in magi to a god in DBZ super.

However I have to give Ohkta her credit, this manga never stopped being interesting and she's great at writing within the context of her universe. The way the story progressed always seemed to make sense in context with little asspulling and nobody ever seemed to be out of character. She's also really good at making her characters in a moral grey area. it feels like every character that has aspired for more power has been portrayed as an antagonist to an extent. Even Sinbad now has good intentions for the rukh. He's striving to ensure the world has the peace his current world has for an eternity. Since only he can see the path of destiny, he realized the world would descend into war some time after his body has passed so he wants to overwrite the rukh himself while he still has the chance even though nobody but him wants him to go this far.
It's also in no way dumping on the main theme, in fact we're pretty much approaching the climax/final clash of the main theme if Sinbad can turn the tables on Ugo and change Solomon's will.

What is this approach that was changed?
Sinbad facing Alibaba & Aladdin over his will vs solomon's will is still within the realms of possibility, it's not like this was the final chapter. But in any case this story definitively changed direction at the Alma Toran arc. The central clash stopped being about control of the world via djinn equips and becoming the true king vessel once we found out the whole idea of the clash of king vessels was part of an elaborate plan by Ugo himself. That notion should have solidified once Sinbad had took over/changed the world.
Alma Toran changed the main ideological clash to be over how destiny and the rukh is to be handled by the "god" entity characters, Solomon, Sinbad, David, Ugo and Ill Illiah.
I do feel this manga is being rushed which is such a shame. But the plot progression has made sense and doesn't feel made up as it goes along. She can still mess up how Sinbad will ascend to godhood and how those who oppose him will of course. But as of right now she's holding it together

This crazy development points to that part of the plot, Ugo is taking that guy's position, god over gods, though didn't feel right the rise in terms of layers we need more info to act but surely this is more that some readers can chew on.

! The writing and story structure are just so bad at this point. Especially that super awkward transition between Sinbad becoming God and WACKY ALIBABA AND MORGIANNA HIJINKS.
! I mean we spent like what five-six chapters on this conflict and it just ends in 5 pages without any real resolution? I guess people can just come back from the dead if they want even if their Rukh has already been recycled. And Supreme God Ugo sure is weak to illusions after all his grand posturing. Man, what a pathetic resolution to such a beloved character. And not the good kind of pathetic, the what is the author thinking kind.
! This whole conflict screams to me that the author had one thing in mind then her editor screamed in her ear to think about the Sinbad manga sales and so she shoehorned in this other twist. Lame. I mean it was lame either way but this constant flip flopping of the story is blatantly unprofessional. -
I was willing to let that last chapter slide, but now we're dealing with heavy Kubo writing here. Not sure from where to start complaining.
It's good that the second half started reminding me it's still the same manga.
I think Ohtaka would have been better off without showing all that happened in the last 3-4 chapters. From a reader's perceptive, that it, mine, it would have been more effective if we were equally puzzled as the characters living in the world. Considering how Kubolike Ohtaka handled that shit, I think most people would agree with me.
