I just saw some fanart that had the Strawhats (and allies) dressed/cosplaying as Big Mom Pirates and it had Luffy as Katakuri.
Its a big pieces so instead of showing here, I'll just link to it here.Sanji's costume is rather obvious. Zoro is obvious vaguely when thinking about it (swords), as is Nami (weather related) but others are unexpected and hilarious…. check out Chopper and Pedro. Though I have to issue a warning= Do NOT be drinking anything when viewing Pedro's outfit!!! XD
-
That fanart is freaking great. I love all of the choices there.

Pedro being Pudding is both wrong and yet amazing at the same time. That said, though I kind of wished Pedro could've been Tamago, with Pudding being… Vivi? I don't know, there's not enough women to go around lol
EDIT:
Actually now that I've thought about it, Vivi as Pudding would've worked really well here, since Pudding is technically the "princess" of this arc
-
The resemblance between Franky and Daifuku is uncanny.
-
Franky's Haki genie should have been Franky Shogun.
-
you know i think in this new world, where the underworld are always shown, we need a broker to be a straw hat, in order to get information or some important stuff from the underworld, im sure thats an important roles, more than lookout. Maybe one of Kaidous crews are an interesting logia broker girl? Maybe even someone we've seen? Ginrummy?
Well, dunno whether we get a broker girl, but depending on how the arc ends and if the BM pirates demand all of the Strawhats' treasures during some truce negotiations at least we get…
! 2 broke girls.

Love this piece. Usually have this guy's artwork in the chapter releases and it's so good sometimes I wonder if it's officially drawn by Oda but there's obviously tell tale signs that it's not.
So Nami's Big Mom
Luffy is Katakuri go figure
Robin is Smoothie (kind of reflects Robin post timeskip as she's been sidelined far too much in battles)
Zoro is Cracker
Brook is Perospero
Franky is Daifuku
Jinbei is Oven
Pedro is Pudding (loool)
Carrot is Brulée
Chopper is Bobbin (This makes me cry, why did Bobbin have to be so weak)
Sanji is Streussen
Ussop is Mont D'orAnd what's great about this is that I remember all these names and appearances, I must really be enjoying this arc lol
-
Once Jimbe finally joins, I'll change to Kuma chopper or Moriah Chopper? Or oda will throw us a curveball and be Crocodile Chopper?
Did you draw that or get it from a photo
I'd personally want Doflamingo Chopper
-
Its a very old fanart that I have to dig up again. I'm not the author, I just use it for my nefarious identities .

What about a Buggy Chopper? I can arrange it for you:
!
Here you go. -
Having someone that tightly connected to the Void Century (or really anyone)) join would be lame. Even more so when you consider that Luffy is adamantly against being given any blatant knowledge concerning stuff like that. He wants it all to be one big surprise, as it should be, for both him and the crew.
@Count:
Oh, okay. I didn't catch the spoiler tags. I completely agree with you. I don't see Brook getting dethroned as the immortal crewmate as the undead skeleton pirate cliche, and somebody from the Void Century joining the crew would make Robin's dream become too easy or redundant. Even if something plot-specific is revealed where they somehow don't know everything about the Void Century. The moon is sort of a different story while still connected though.
To play devil's advocate, Inurashi & Nekomamushi gave them a MASSIVE hints in finding Raftel. They told them about the road poneglyph & the location of 3 out of 4 of the road poneglyph.
If Luffy wanted a truly "spoiler free" adventure, his crew would have follow the logpost to the last island, learn about the Void Century and recalculate their route from there. But Oda doesn't want that so he makes them learn about it from the minks so they don't have to take 2 trips…
I mentioned Robin & Brook in my post so I'm aware of how redundant it is. So, I do agree with both your points.lol
As I said, an immortal character is more likely to play a crucial yet secondary role like Law than being part of the main cast...Though a moon alien as a crewmate sound very appealing to me...:ninja:
On the side note, Enel's cover story is the one that really intrigue me. It raises more question than answer. Most plot point in cover story get address eventually in the main story. But I don't really see Enel going back to the blue sea seeing how he acquire massive land & many subordinates on the moon...
-
As much as I am ready for jimbei to join, and I know we are reaching a point, where we don't really have time for another crew member after, I still somehow hope we can get another female on the crew if at all possible.
-

To be fair, they only told Luffy objectives and checkpoints. What Usopp threatened to reveal was if One Piece was real or not, and maybe what the e One Piece is. As well as the truth of the Void Century. Things that completely spoil the ending rather than making the journey more clear and exciting.
The fact that Enel got an army makes it likely for him to go back to Earth and flaunt his power somehow. We just have to wait.

Personally, I think it would have been interesting if Robin was the one who uncovered the truth about the road poneglyph rather than being told about it from them.On the side note, I feel there is something special about the road poneglyph (aside from what they reveal). The fact that Nekomamushi say that nobody will be stupid enough to carry the ponelglyph & Luffy's dissatisfaction of just obtaining fishprints instead of the real thing make me feel Luffy need to do just that. I have no idea where Luffy will store the poneglyph if that was the case.lol
Personally, I don't see him coming back to Earth. Either way, Enel reappearing again will put the spotlight on the moon plotline.

No they didn't. They only gave hints as to how to find One Piece, but now what One Piece is or if it exists. The most they implied anything with was by saying Crocus might have lied for some unknown reason and that they ventured with Whitebeard and Roger, but Crocus and Rayleigh did the latter so that's not important.
I wish that as well. A lot of people who feel that Robin has been underwhelming since the timeskip feel that way too. It feels like she is only there to give convenient exposition.
I wanted to see Luffy try that lol, but I find it unlikely if they are going to rely on fish prints from Whole Cake Island. In fact, I think it's better if they use fish prints from all of the Road Poneglyphs so that it's easy to align them next to each other when Nami makes the map.
Why not though? Everybody major comes back in One Piece eventually. It makes no sense to introduce a moon robot army and never have them become relevant in the main plot. It's either he comes back or we get a moon arc, but I doubt the later will ever happen.

I'm on mobile so it's annoying for me to write too much.
Hints to find Raftel but not the truth about the Void Century etc.lolRereading skypeia, it was awesome to see Robin exploring the ruins of Shandora & reading the ponelglyph to find the gold bell. Nowadays, it's just "here a new ponelglyph & read it for exposition".
I personally feel Luffy will gather all the 4 physical ponelgyph. It's more in line with Luffy's adventuring spirit. Lol
We'll just wait & see.Since we already off topic, I'm 90% sure Momo is going to get kidnap by one of Kaidou's men (Jack or someone else).
I want a moon arc.:ninja:

I agree. She ventured around Fishman Island too, but if I remember correctly, she just kind of walked around, read something, and that was it.

It would make Brook's fight and surprise meaningless, so no.
Maybe, but for most of Wano. I am pretty sure that Luffy is actually going to fight Kaido while riding on Momo as he is creating clouds to run on in midair.
We can't jump the shark just yet.

I think I'm just not getting my point across.Lol
I generally agree with what you said. From what I recall, she walk around a bit & the scene cut to her finding the ponelglyph. We didn't see any of her thought process to look for the ponelglyph. Even in Zou, she was just led to the road poneglyph.
i'm just throwing out possibility. Fishprints could work just fine.
Few lines indicate that something will happen to Momo in Zou.
-Inurashi line about a potential traitor & needing to keep watch on Zou because they may come back.
-Jack being alive & waiting for someone to rescue him (Probably another calmaties)If Momo & Inurashi are going to arrive on Wano safe & sound, Oda won't put those lines in…

This could be possible for potential drama that has more purpose than explaining how the Beast pirates invaded Zou a hundred chapters ago, so I like it.

Incoming Momo rescue sub-arc.
Finally, Sanji can pass on this role to someone else.:ninja:I still think Pedro is an unwitting traitor…

Enel's coming back at some point. Otherwise the anime would have done a filler arc or movie with him by now. But not if Oda told them "hands off."
(Also the anime didn't do his cover story because they never do, but it seems plot relevant enough they probably need to do when it becomes more pertinent.)
Meanwhile the anime snuck in appearances by Kuro who is never showing up again and did a toooon of stuff with Foxy. But not Ax Hand, Krieg, or Gin.
-
Kuro just wanted to find a nice place to live, and like other retirees that couldnt he went to florida.

Who cares about those nosebleeds, have they done anything extra with Wapol?

Who cares about those nosebleeds, have they done anything extra with Wapol?
No, aside from the Drum Kingdom arc movie. But they did adapt his cover story when he came back for the Reverie right after Zou.
-
So any ideas on when we'll do the Jinbe kanpei? After WCI with just the current members or at the beginning of Wano with the other members? The post-Dressrosa party was pretty lively since we had the citizens and the SH grand fleet but the post-WCI party would be a pretty modest showing if they had it immediatedly after escaping. >_>
Think Oda might choose to hold off on it until they reunite in Wano or say fuck it and have a small party?
-
@Count:

I prefer to pretend that movie didn't happen. Now if we could just hurry up and get to Reverie so the Black Drum Kingdom arc can be set up for like 4 years.

The end of the arc. The same way it happened with Nami at the end of Arlong Park, Chopper, Skypiea, Brook, and the Grand Fleet. Or they just skip it like what happened with Sanji because the priority is on going somewhere else, and they never end up doing it.
I don't see why they would end up doing it in Wano Country in the middle of an Emperor's territory and the samurai drama. Parties never happen in the middle of arcs.
-

They did do his cover story recently. Regardless, he's another one that was clearly earmarked for "will show up in the future" even in the actual manga.
Really the only reason its any question at all with Enel is because he's so far from where we could imagine the strawhats ever going so its hard to think of how he might rejoin the plot. But he will.
-
Raftel is in the moon, that's where Enel is. But since he is the only character who is completely oblivious to the pirate world, he didn't realized what it was. The Road Poneglyphs will actually lead to a launching station and they will fly to the moon on the Sunny Kaguya style (or Maxim style).
Yeah…

Except in Skypiea, yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if Carrot joins immediately with Jinbe and we get another flashback later, like all the women crewmembers.
-

There was a party at the end of Skypiea during Chapter 300, which is why I mentioned it. Nobody joined, but it was still a big celebration akin to what we see when a new crewmate might join.
I doubt Carrot's joining altogether, especially at the same time as another crewmember like Jimbei. But that's a different discussion.
-
Skypiea's end party was really special since it had these two formerly feuding groups enjoying each other's company. Best arc.
Also Count, he pointed out Skypiea because you mentioned parties never happen in the middle of arcs. In addition to the end party, Skypiea did have one in the middle of the arc with the wolves or whatever.

My bad for misunderstanding then. I vaguely remembered something like that, but thought it was more of a campfire planning session. I must be wrong then.
-
Well it initially was iirc, but then it morphed into a weird, crazy party with the local wolves. As far as OP parties go it was actually pretty elaborate/long, with Sanji cooking up a huge meal, dances and drinks with the wolves, a giant bonfire, etc.

They also had like 2-3 parties in Zou. Lol
But zou was a weird arc in terms of all conflict being in the past.
-
Oh yeah. I apologize for not remembering those parties well then.

Carrot joining or not aside, she definitely wont be given equal weight by joining with jinbe if they celebrate.
What will jinbe drink, we need a strawhats favorite booze list from Oda
Someone dial up the SBS

Will people stop calling Jinbe "Jimbei" when he joins or nah?
-
Will people stop calling Jinbe "Jimbei" when he joins or nah?
I won't. I don't even know why I do it. I just prefer that spelling lol.
-
Do we have his official romanization? I've been going with "Jinbe" but I've seen it spelled all kinds of different ways like "Jinbei, Jimbe, Jimbei, etc."
He needs to do us a solid like Brook did and show us his damn wanted poster when he officially joins. That'll kill two birds with one stone. =P
-
His wanted poster spells it as "Jinbe" so there's that.
Edit: Wait, I don't think his was ever shown in the manga. Hmm… Ah. I was thinking of his original title box from chapter 528.
-
It's spelled in Chapter 829 as "Jinbe".
-

@Jazzy:
Do we have his official romanization? I've been going with "Jinbe" but I've seen it spelled all kinds of different ways like "Jinbei, Jimbe, Jimbei, etc."
They're both legit romanizations. And it was generally translated as Jimbei for years (going back to Arlong Park and the actual whale species) before we got an official romanization from his bounty poster, and its even the spelling Viz uses. It's fine either way, they're both legit. (Viz also runs into issues with some of the Blackbeard pirates… and "Zolo" but that's 4kids copyrighting fault.) They did manage to have lucky timing with Oars which was a super weird name and they were able to get that right because it got romanized in the war before they got to Thriller Bark.
SImilarly, it's always going to be Rob Lucchi to me, even if the official spelling is Lucci, because that's how it was spelled for years before we got something official.
Or Frieza in Dragonball. Yeah, it should probably be Freeza but you're fighting a lot of muscle memory on that one.
But you're translating one language to another, so there's always going to be variants.
And, and this is important, even though 99.9% of the time the author's word should be top priority, Oda is NOT a native English speaker and so he sometimes misses names and that is a rare case where maybe a translator should take priority over the author's intent. The most glaring such case is Shiryu, which Oda officially romanized as "Shiliew" which is just... wrong. Especially given that its an actual name that's been romanized for hundreds of years as "Shiryu".
-
^Not just the Viz manga; every official english release uses the "Jimbei" translation (anime dub, simulcast subs, video games, etc.), so for many it will remain the most familiar and most preferred spelling.
-
If any character that is part animal will join, then obviously Morgans is a much better candidate.
-
Lets just all be grateful that they resemble the names of the character still, unlike something with Pokemon where Green's name changed to Blue in english translations, while Blue's name changed to Green.
