I can't be the only one who was almost certain from the beginning that Jinbei wouldn't be going back with them, right? It really felt like Jinbei was in this arc because he happened to have business with Big Mom and Luffy happened to be there. I can't put my finger on why it would be weird to recruit a crewmember when only half of the crew was present but it just is to me. The timing was just never right to me.

Jimbei already joined back in FI, he just needed to handle the situation with Big Mom first. It's like when Nami didn't join right away but it was a foregone conclusion. The whole crew was assembled at FI so him coming back now, with only half the crew, didn't really matter since everyone knew it was just a matter of time before he came back. I don't see why there would have been any certainty that he wouldn't be going back with them since Big Mom was the only reason he needed to delay it and they were poised to have resolved that conflict right now. Oda just took a bad narrative turn here and is flubbing the ending to this arc like a mofo so this whole thing with Jimbei isn't the only crappy outcome we have to put up with.

So in total, she's been up and down from the crow's nest 8 times, but sometimes she stayed up there for a while, and she's shown lookout characteristics a few times outside of the ship as well. There's also several times where we get a shot of the main deck and Carrot is nowhere in sight even though she's almost always with Nami or Chopper, so she's probably in the crow's nest at those times, but we don't see it so I didn't include them here.

But I've been told that Carrot obviously isn't joining, so clearly Oda doesn't mean anything with all of this.:ninja:

Sanji's conversation regarding the raid power suit did got a chuckle out of me.
BUT "overlapping abilities" is still an argument that works…at least for me...lol

Usopp & Franky both tinker with stuffs. Zoro & Brook use swords. Most of the strawhats incorporate fire in their attack.Most of the strawhats are hand to hand combatant. Etc.

There's always going to be some kind of minor overlap in abilities. It is kinda unavoidable...I think most of the people using this arguments know that.

But major overlap in abilities & skills is where the problem is.

Sanji using a raid suit is kinda touching on Franky's territory. But Sanji's main skills is still being the chef & being part of monster trio. It's fundamentally different from Franky. Anyway, it's not like Sanji will use it all the time...

On topic of Carrot, I don't have any issue with her 'role' & abilities. But abilities & skills aren't the only factor in determining a crewmate....

Overall, minor overlap in ability is fine but major overlap in ability is an issue. Of course, what qualify as 'major' & 'minor' is highly subjective...

I would not mind if Carrot joins as long as it turns out she is the evil mastermind that told jimbe to stay behind on totland and now she will kick zeus away so she can be the next nakama. This latest chapter's discussion among the SHs just reminded me of how Chopper sucked this arc. Here we have Luffy, being presented as the new emperor, having attained a new levek of CoO haki and revealed a new Gear 4th form; Sanji showing he is maybe the best cook in the whole world and getting a super high tech raid suit to power up later; Nami going full Goku and getting a pet cloud made out of Big Mom's soul living inside her staff; Brook didn't really power up but had a really badass MVP performance up till the wedding. Then Chopper did… What? He seemed like a minor Carrot. Honestly, it looked like Oda was telling us that Carrot was an upgraded Chopper. "Bropper has a plan to capture Brulee" They run around and Carrot ends up being the one to defeat Brulee, Randolph and Diesel easily, while Chopper has to go Monster point just to slam a crocodile. "Chopper goes monster point and tries to drag Mama down into the sea with him" ends up being useless, while Carrot goes into her version of monster point, flies arouns the battlefield and disables an entire fleet led by Daifuku. Why, Oda? I love Chopper but he has been useless for so long. Not even his medical skills were required this arc...

Why is this a problem all of a sudden? Long John also had this issue. Last time I did this, nobody seemed to have any issue, and I didn't change the way I did it. I can see it just fine in a normal window, but I can't see it if I look at it in incognito mode.

Why is Oda continuously, and unerringly, positioning Carrot as the lookout of the Sunny? None of the anti-Carrot crowd has ever been able to explain this away. It would be one thing if she only did it once or twice, but how can you justify her continuously going up and down from the mast without anyone else taking over for her? The closest we ever came to that was Brook and Chopper joining her in the crow's nest once before leaving her up there to do her thing. She's practically living in the crow's nest at this point.

The goal of the Nox pirates was to find poneglyphs. They will not be rebooted because a) their purpose has already been fulfilled and b) Robin will always come across relevant poneglyghs either on her own or with the help of her friends. Any minks that help them going forward will just be minks helping the SHs. They won't need to brand themselves as a pirate crew that's already served its purpose.

There's no way Oda would spend this much time establishing the lookout of the Nox pirates, of all things. What would be the point? It's not like we'd be following their adventures enough for that to matter. When all is said and done, we would get more examples of Carrot being the lookout for the strawhats than her being the lookout for the Nox pirates.

Because all I've heard is just handwaving about how lookout is an irrelevant position. For such an irrelevant position, Oda is definitely going out of his way to have Carrot fill it.

I remember when Carrot immediately jumped into action as lookout when Pedro died, and I called her being the lookout on the spot. The evidence has only stacked more and more in support of that theory over time.

Does she necessarily need to find all of them, though? There's nine Poneglyphs detailing the history of the One Piece world going by chapter 846, and if the wiki's any indication, she's already found at least four of them (Ohara, Alabasta, Shandora, and Fishman Island), possibly more if one of the Poneglyphs in Big Mom's possession turns out to detail ancient history, and there's likely going to be at least one at Wano.

I think the main problem is that the poneglyph's importance is still not linked to Luffy's path. Only now, with the road poneglyphs, finding them became important for him, but it is still only those specific 4. For all the others, their relevance is still restricted to Robin's personal desire to find out the secret behind the void century… and that's all.

We know, because a proper writing dictates it, that the void century will end up being tangled with Luffy's adventure and the One Piece, but as far as the characters are concerned the road poneglyphs are the only ones that matter so far - and of the all 4 road poneglyphs, Luffy is already on his way to get the 3rd and obviously the 4th will be found by the SH and not by some supporting crew on a side story.

Nope, already did that.

I already explained why to me the lookout thing doesn't work several pages ago, why that particular question is irrelevant and why it's not even accurate. Others did that too.
I don't want to bring back to life this mess just to be selectively ignored again and then see the same points being brought up some pages later like nothing happened. I really don't have any interest in this discussion anymore because every point has already been made clear in the past, sometimes more than once, and since I think those points still stand, I think you will find in the past pages a logical response to any of your present and probably future arguments about Carrot. If there will be a post that brings up something new then maybe I will reply to that but until then noope.

As Mega intimated, there's nothing to suggest that Robin needs to find them all. All of the relevant ones she'll come across because of the plot. I don't see why a bunch of minks would suddenly set sail (under an old pirate flag) and go make copies of poneglyphs from the Grand Line to the New World and then suddenly present them to Robin so that she can coincidentally translate them and move the plot forward. What, are they going to Sky Island and Fishman Island to get those too? After all, they don't know that Robin already has those, so why not? Maybe it's just me, but I think Oda's a better writer than that.

No one was the best at their role when they first joined (except perhaps Robin) and she hasn't even joined yet.

I personally don't care if Carrot joins or doesn't. Sometimes it seems likely, sometimes it seems like a ruse, but again I don't really care.

As far as positions go, she's probably a great lookout, but we're also missing half the crew. Usopp could also make a great lookout in addition to his ship fixing skills, but Franky could also do the latter. Zoro's usually on the nest as well despite probably sleeping from time to time.

I personally like the theory about something happening at the Reverie to force the Nefertari family name to be treated as outcasts/criminals with Vivi joining as the final member. Not sure how well that could work, but it could also help with Vivi trying to get Luffy to think about helping the world as a whole rather than just focusing solely on their own goals which will happen anyway once they find One Piece.

Of course, we'll be in Wano for probably around 3 years of story, so it could also just be a new member from there.

Some thoughts:

There is still a 4th missing poneglyph that isn't with one of the emperors or the minks. Someone will have to locate that.
Lookout is an important position in a ship. It is a role I can see being filled. But we can't mix someone's job on the ship with their role or dream. Nami knows a lot about weather and maps, which makes her the best navigator for the ship. But her dream was not to navigate to Raftel. The same way Jinbe's dream is not to be the best helmsman in the world, but he is skilled at it. Someone could be the ship's lookout but have other ambitions and occupations.
Just as a provocation: Carrot's being in the lookout position A LOT. But has she actually contributed with that? Has she spotted something that saved the crew, like someone said? Or saved the ship by sighting an enemy or currents from a distance? Jinbe's helmsman skills were much more practical.

To be honnest both sides have argued during more than 20 pages on the matter without advancing one inch so what is the purpose of arguing further ? For the moment, it’s more a matter of convinction rather than anything else. Oda can draw her on the nest as much as he wants to, they won’t be convinced by that argument as much as you won’t be convinced by arguments such as design and second Chopper

You don't even need to find all the Poneglyphs considering there are "ink prints" of them going around, as explained by Nekomamushi.

The funny thing is… Pedro's ambition is the Dawn of the World, not the Poneglyphs themselves. Now that he explained to Carrot that Luffy is the one that will bring the down, his inhirited will is to help Luffy, not to find Poneglyphs.

I'm saying to you that we already had this discussion.
I already wrote why to me Carrot being in the crow nest means nothing. Go to pp. 1134 ff. if you don't believe me and look at my posts. And look also at Galaxy posts while you're at it. And I'm 100% sure that before that the point was already been discussed more than once.

This Carrot is a lookout thing hasn't been handled like the other SH roles in the crew have been. Look at Jinbe in the same arc.
There hasn't been any storyline or big moment or chapter or even just half a chapter dedicated only to it, and the panels you keep posting are far from those things.
It's not something she's been shown excelling at any more than any of the other characters that in the past holded a pair of binoculars or shouted that there's an enemy somewhere or stayed in the crow's nest.
She is a mink that jumps high and it is unexceptional to put her in the crow's nest when Usopp is in Wano.
Other characters have had this supposed lookout role in the same arc.

These are our points. It's fine to disagree, but acting like pages of discussion never happened and claiming that nobody was ever able to explain your stuff and that all the arguments against it were just that lookout is an irrelevant position it's just bad.

BTW I'm not pointing out these things again because I think you are able to hold a discussion, and I already explained in my previous post why I don't think there's any reason to continue this, I'm just doing this because you called me a liar and after this I'm out of this mess.
