Out of all the (good) arguments one could make against Carrot, her interactions/synergy with the crew is certainly not one of them. Ironically, that's the one thing Jinbe still gets criticized for quite often even after being a complete lock-in.

As with every argument on her personality, it's a huge matter of opinion. Some will say Carrot's synergy with the crew has been side-character level at best, and I am inclined to agree with anybody who says that.
I will once again point to the interactions that Law, Kin'emon, Pedro, and Momonosuke have had with the crew on the Thousand Sunny (and on land). That's where I place Carrot.

Daifuku was aiming for her specifically and took her by surprise. Even with Sanji helping, I should hope she has it in her to defend herself now.

Of course she's going to have some kind of a reaction to Luffy coming back to the ship. I never would expect Oda to fully ignore her, since she's on the ship as a supporting cast member. That's one of her (very limited) shticks, the Garchu thing (that every Mink does).
As I said, I feel that her portrayal compared to Jinbe is a night and day difference.
Jinbe & Sanji are the two strawhats that got a moment in this chapter.
Jinbe's former crew is sending him off & they are helping him ward off enemy attack. Jinbe even told the strawhats that "they are the best!" while laughing.
Judge is indirectly 'complimenting' Sanji's good trait by being a huge tsundere. The Germa army is also helping them ward off the enemies.
Carrot is not even remotely the focus in this chapter. Seriously.

No, there's a huge difference between a "random offhand comment" and "being a part of the Straw Hats". Trying to equate Jinbe's portrayal here to her portrayal in the Zou Arc, where she was sent to the background, is extremely silly.
Nevermind his actual portrayal in Impel Down (there's a reason the theories began here), Marineford, and Fishman Island. And in this arc, where he declared himself as a Straw Hat, with no fear, and left Big Mom's crew. And he's been having synergy with them the entire time!

Though, personally, Carrot wouldn't be too hard for me to accept. I just wish she had more depth (in design and backstory). I have an open mind, though. I personally don't think the final crewmate is going to be as obvious as people suggest. I think the final crewmate can be an exceptional case. It what regard? Hell if I know. I just don't think they'll be conventional in the slightest.
To be honest, I would have considered Jinbe to be an exceptional case but he's "The Ninth" so…

I was specifically referencing Jinbe as compared to Carrot as that is what you were doing. But, if you'd like, I can compare her to Franky. Franky had an incredibly memorable and flashy introduction, an insanely unique design and personality, and a powerful flashback and driving force behind his dream. Carrot has none of those. And, no, her remembering that Pedro gave her gloves once does not count as a powerful flashback. And before you cite Usopp's single page flashback as a reason to rationalize Carrot joining, that was early in the series when everything was rushed and on a much smaller scale. Every member that's joined since they entered the Grand Line has had a tragic and beautiful flashback explaining their personality, ambition, and purpose in the narrative. Nothing about Carrot even competes.

Or have Carrot and Pedro interact more instead of only exchanging a couple sentences with each other on the way to Totland and right before Pedro's apparent suicide.

I could buy all of this if Pedro and Carrot had been the tag-team on Whole Cake Island, rather than Brook and Pedro. There would've been plenty of emotional beats to have during their time together, in that situation. Thankfully, we got Brook and Pedro instead.

Jinbe also failed to keep the distance they gained from Smoothie, allowing her to hit the Sunny and Daifuku's genie to reach them, because he left his post to look on Luffy. This was not supposed to read as the member failing to fulfill their job, but showing Luffy is their priority.
I feel the 900th chapter will be Jinbe's official joining chapter and he'll finally appear with the crew in a color spread.
I do not think it will happen since iirc, the number chapters are reserved for the aftermath of arcs but if Oda calls the next chapter "the ninth"…
