RAW for chapter 34: http://raw.senmanga.com/Cross_Manage/34
Cross Manage

-
Man, the chapter was beautiful. The whole flow was perfect, easy to read, understand, and exciting.
I wish she had done more of this sports earlier in the series. -
RAW for 35: http://raw.senmanga.com/Cross_Manage/35
Also the Viz newsletter e-mail I got earlier this week has Cross Manage as their #1 online seller for the week.
-
Yeah, and it's still clinging on to their "most popular digital this week" or whatever it is on the Viz website. Far more promising than Takama-Ga-Hara or Barrage ever were.
-
I'm still hoping some scanlator group will pick this up if it's not cancelled and hangs on for a couple more months…
-
I'm still hoping that doesn't happen, because I feel that'll only detract from its strong digital sales and eventual print release (which of course is what all us non US/CA readers want, yeah? So we can buy it?), but whatever works for ya
-
It does have a scanlation group. They're just really lazy about updating.
-
This cliffhanger :cwy:
Just…wow.
-
I'm hoping for volume two to come out soon, I'd like to get to read the series before it actually ends.
-
So I know SJA announced Toriyama's new series in two weeks. Just wondering if that means Cross Manage is ending next week. The latest chapter seemed like the penultimate chapter too and seems like it can conclude in next week's issue. I'll be keeping an eye out for future KAITO series and hope the best for the author.
-
No, Sket Dance ending is the one opening a space for Toriyama's new series. Cross Manage will probably wrap up in issue #34 (7/13) or #35 (7/22), because additional new series are making debuts in issues #35 and 36.

I'd like to see her land a serialization in one of the seinen magazines (but not Young-line up, obviously, it wouldn't fit) tbh.
-
perhaps miracle jump now that's relaunching? I know its still a young spin-off, but it could work. but then i just want Kaito working anywhere
-
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It actually made it on the chart!
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-07-10/japanese-comic-ranking-june-30-july-6
I'm so happy!!!!!It sucks that it is probably going to end soon. A part of me really hopes they are just like,"…..Screw Mutou Black," and just cancel that instead.....
Since we don't know the numbers from previous volumes, I'm just assuming this series has only gotten more popular now, and has sold more than it used to to get on the chart. And I would love to see Kaito in Weekly Shonen Jump again before another magazine. I think he/she will be able to handle at least one more heartbreak of cancellation from the magazine. I think he/she will be more stable in another mag, but I really feel that Kaito can actually "balance out" Jump for what it's worth. I feel like there is nothing cooler than being able to read an issue with pirates on one page and girl's lacrosse on the next. I do hope that if there is a next series it wouldn't be gag. Kaito's previous one-shots don't really seem to be my taste…
And I am honestly confused by whether or not Kaito is a male or female. I thougt it was a woman, but the English Shonen Jump refers to Kaito as a male, and they said they aren't sure either, but they did say that the Japanese side gave them the ok to use male pronouns. And it is probably sexist, but I just can't see a female mangaka being so obsessed with Monster Hunter.
-
Yeah.. "Screw Mutou Black AND Smokey B.B.".
-
I don't read it, but does it look like it's wrapping up?
Since Edison didn't make it into the chart, there's a chance CM could float another round, right?
-
Leave Smokey alone, that's actually pretty decent.
Mutou is like a really boring Rurouni Kenshin wannabe that has none of the appeal of Kenshin.
That and Soul Catchers have been rather disappointing, sacrifice them instead. -

It appears that way me. It looks like it just a few more chapters to wrap up nicely.

That and Soul Catchers have been rather disappointing, sacrifice them instead.Soul Catchers is okay, but the artist has a very monotonous style of facial design, which is not good when you introduce so many characters…
I agree Smokey is the best of the new ones, and Mutou is the worst.
-
on the female/male thing: it is so very complicated. viz tend to default to male wih authors until proven otherwidse, hence the late change in pronoun for katsura in the d.gray-man. Kaito's is referred to as female because of a complicated chain of info. Akira Amano is posited to both be female and the rumoured jump author who only has female assistants (backed up by said assistants being kenji sakaki and sho aimoto, both women). Kaito is another assistant of Amano's, so we all just kinda accept tjat she's a woman until otherwise told.
anyway hey just read today's chapter on the newstand app and oh god, my heart, she hurts. these final two/three weeks are gonna MURDER me.
also ditto on smokey bb beingthe best of the new batch. though i'll add that mutou black is decent, and at the least a pretty title. soul catchers? less so each week.
-
God I hate it. I am seriously in denile that it will end, but it is pretty much confirmed, especially since Viz left it out of their new Shonen Jump Starter Pack they released today.
I wish it could continue in some other form, be it in the new Jump Live or Jump SQ or some other miracle. It seems the last chapter (or maybe two chapters) will probably just be a love confession stint.
But yeah, most recent chapter was great.
-
It's not in the latest starter pack? Damn, I best not switch over from the old one, I don't wanna lose that sweet, sweet colour spread.
-
Question: is there any chance it can be turned to anime or drama
-
It's ending because it's not popular. Why would they make an expensive TV show based on a series that is getting cancelled?
-
And it's over (spoiler: final page ahead)
!

While you are correct, we do have extremely rare example of canned manga getting animated afterwards (Busou Renkin)
Of course, they were high-selling manga that never should have gotten canned in the first place, unlike this title. :sad:EDIT: Aaand just saw the post on Survival Thread. Farewell Cross Manage…
HOWEVER! There will be one more extra chapter of CM, on Autumn Jump Next. -
Cross manage, is it worth reading? Basically i like sport manga ( Mitsuru Adachi's works, Capeta, One Outs, Eyeshield 21, Rookies, Buyuden etc.) but the first chapter didn't impress me at all. Shall I give it another shot?
-
I would say yes. it's not always excellent, but the art alone justifies it. that and this final match. i mean wow
-
I started reading this a few days ago for however few chapters there are, and it's really charming, and it is a shame that it ended so quickly. There are times when the art goes a bit wack I think in terms of proportions (not humor related art), but the whole thing has so much damn heart in it that it's worth reading.
-
Oh man, I hope international WSJ runs the extra chapter then. It's been such a enjoyable ride.

If they don't, at least it will most likely be included in the final volume.
A shame it had to end so soon, but it's at least one of the stronger short series I've read.

Many thanks for your opinions on cross manage.
-
Not quite Adachi Mitsuru level, as that man is practically unrivaled in teen-drama-induced-baseball, but nontheless a decent read.
-

Please.

Most likely, we'll find out next week.

RAW for the final WSJ chapter: http://raw.senmanga.com/Cross_Manage/Final/
-
I loved the last chapter. LOL at the new girl who looks straight outta Kromatie High. I burst out laughing.
-
Very enjoyable and heartwarming read; I want WSJ to do the bonus chapter.
-

They confirmed that they will be doing it at their ComicCon panel and on their podcast, so no need to worry about that.
-
I finally got to read this series now that volume 2 is out. I am incredibly sad, it was a really short but fun ride, had a lot of heartwarming and inspirational moments. I really missed out on it but better late than never I suppose. I hope they eventually bring this series to print like they did with Barrage, I would love to own them as they will a great series to reread in the future.
I really loved the art and I'd like to see KAITO try a fantasy series next. Definitely has the art style down.
!
!
-
As much as I liked having a bonus chapter, the chapter itself left much to be desired.
-
It was decent; relatively a bit cramped compared to the regular chapters but I guess that's normal for one-shots
Namine is so hilariously creepy
-
Hey guys.
Guess what finally updated on the scanlator side.
-
Well, it appears that the only group translating this one has dropped it, so buying the Viz releases seems to be the best option (although it probably already was long before this). Sucks for those who either can't afford it or don't have access to the Viz releases for whatever reason. I doubt any group will pick this up now, but I guess there's always a chance someone will step in.
-
ehhhh, not being able to afford something was never an excuse anyway. If you can't afford it you don't get it, plain and simple. That said, Viz's availability on it is horrendous. There's so many venues it's just not available for, which is insane when digital is its only market. It should be on everything
-
The thing that doesn't make sense to me is how inconstant the places you can buy it are. They have it on their site for all, but alternatively Nook, Kindle and iBook for the first two, then just nook on the 3rd, kindle for the 4th then all of them plus Google play for the last one. Then of course there's region restrictions on all of those I'm sure. It would be nice if they could expand the availability to a more worldwide type setup, but all the licensing issues come into play.
-
Hey guys, bumping this thread to say that Viz has all 5 volumes on sales in a bundle for 10 bucks. Grab them while you can. –)/
-
Kaito is just a maestro. She just misfired slightly with the story and not being a fit for the demographics of the magazine. I would love to see her conquer another sports series in a similair vein in a Seinen magazine. Just an impeccable talent. I wonder what she has been up to lately. Her and the Yoakemono mangaka are my most anticipated to return.
-
Yeah. CM would've done better had it been in another magazine. A shame, really; it had one of the better blends between shonen and shoujo art styles that I've seen (and an awesome amount of varied designs to boot).
She made a 4-chapter series after Cross Manage called "Anti-Lovers", but I haven't been able to find it ANYWHERE (no raws, not even anything on Amazon). If anyone reading this knows anything, pls share.
I really hope she comes back to Jump with a vengeance like Horikoshi did.
