I quite enjoyed this episode to be honest. First, there wasn't anything that really made me cringe, which is the most important thing. I thought the voice acting stole the show this week. Brook's speech and Chopper's monster point were both great. I thought everything in Brook vs Zeo was done well, actually. I was pretty curious how the anime was going to sequence all of these fights since it seems to be jumping between chapters a lot, but it looks like it'll mimic the manga for how/when the ground fights end, so I see nothing to complain about there. Pacing seemed good too. I'm not exactly ranking this episode among the best ever, but I was very satisfied with it for the most part. A lot of the complaints I see in this thread have to do with the source material, which the anime can't possibly be blamed for. Well, except for one thing…
Red Hawk. Now, first I want to say that I rather liked a lot of the things they did with this attack. I actually liked the way they briefly switched the images of Ace in. I give a thumbs up to the total package, except for the one problem which has been mentioned already. In the manga, Luffy clearly and significantly increases the steam that comes out of his arm before he throws the punch. The fact that the anime ignored that detail entirely is the most disappointing thing of the entire episode to me, as it's not a good representation of the source material. I don't even mind the flames that came out of his arm (which was largely done for the Ace mimicry shots, most likely), but the increased steam should have predated that, rather than being replaced by it. They definitely dropped the ball on that aspect, as far as I'm concerned. I still liked the entire package as a whole, though.
All in all, a good episode that suffered a little bit of a black eye in the process.
