@IceBorg:
Wait I was under the impression that Little Busters was one of the better KEY works outside of Clannad(Oh and Planetarian….:sad: )? Well I want to play the visual novel first so im not watching the anime so I hope it just has a bad first episode or bad adaptation because I quite liked Clannad so I had high hopes for this.
Little Busters! the visual novel is great, don't worry.
Though I've yet to watch/play Air and Kanon, it was definitely better than Clannad.The main route where all the plot is focused(''Refrain'') beats out Clannad's After Story(which was amazing stuff besides the ending) any day in terms of quality in my book.
The only thing Clannad's got it beat on is the quality of the individual (side)girl routes so assuming they'll make a second season for Refrain like they did with the After Story route in the Clannad visual novel, this first season of Little Busters! is probably going to be just like the visual novel was before you hit the main heroine's route and Refrain: a fun watch with some emotional moments, but nothing quite up to par with After Story's level of excellence.Really akin to Clannad's first season, so it's worth watching.
So, I'd say people should just wait for Refrain before they can dismiss it completely because if they pull it off well, I can garantee it'll be absolutely phenomenal.I know this is cliché but I really barely tear up when most so called 'emotional' moments happen in fiction and I'm not lying when I say that that route had me bawling like a baby.Little Busters is all about friendship(so much that I feel compelled to draw them all as ponies lol) and by the end all the characters feel like your very own friends. Character development is excellent in this visual novel, I'd recommend it to anyone.
As for the anime, the first episode was pretty okayish as an adaptation, not bad but not spectacular either.I guess it could leave anime-only viewers a little confused about what the actual plot of the show is like though. But considering that the studio that's adapting it is renowned for doing shitty adaptations(like Tsukihime) I think they put up a good effort.The animation is obviously never going to match Clannad's since it's animated by different people, but I thought it was just fine despite some stills.So if you never really liked KEY, yeah you can pretty much forget about watching this just for the eye candy.
Putting LB! aside, this fall looks pretty damn good so far, especially when you compare it to last season where there was only like one really good new show(Jinrui)
These are the shows I'm watching and what ratings I'd give them so far(will give more detailed thoughts on them later since this is already becoming a big wall of text)
