I can't believe that there are no threads about it.
A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD (Die Hard 5)

I'm glad they're bringing back the R rating. LFoDH was my least favorite of the movies but hopefully this one can bring back the feeling of the first 3.

I am kinda skeptical about the cgi, they use in some scenes.
I enjoyed the fourth film for having memorable action scenes with very little cgi. However, I think the film was too long and the ending action sequence was too much.
-
I enjoyed the 4th movie a whole heck of a lot more than i ever did die hard 2 or 3.
But it's all good. And i've enjoyed this dumb action renessance so far so i don't think this one'll disapoint me either
-
Yeah, Live Free has been the best sequel yet, even tho it honestly didn't feel like a Die Hard movie at all. I feel they really need to go back to the claustrophobic one-man with all odds stacked against him scenario. With each sequel they seem to be making the scale grander, which while makes for some great action set pieces really doesn't get the blood pumping in me. Action movies nowadays seem to have slowly forgotten the aspect of suspense. By hey this could turn out to be a great action film even if it doesn't feel like Die Hard and that'll be fine with me.

"Yippie Ki Yay"
…
...
...
You better follow that up in the fucking movie.R rating is a plus, but 4 burned me so bad that I'm wary of this one. Who knows, maybe the villain won't be terrible, maybe the "younger partner" buddy aspect wont grate on me so badly...
But that CGI Jump sure isn't raising my hopes. Also, it has the worst poster/tagline in the history of movies.

Absolutely not. It is in fact, awesome.
-
…They made a second Die Hard?
-
Yeah hopefully the villian in this movie will be better than Timothy Olyphant's character and he doesn't die like a bitch.
-
So far, every odd-numbered Die Hard's been good - hoping this one keeps up the trend.
-
I love Vengance. But the 4th was sooo bad. I'm not sure how well this could do. Feels like might be Crystal Skull-ish with the father son aspect.
-
hasnt he died of his hard on yet
how many movies is it gonna take
-
This movie has a 12% on RT.
Oh My!
-
Bruce Willis, you cna play an invincible Superman, and thats fine, audiences are okay with that.
But when you do, don't call the movie "Die Hard."
The entire appeal of John McClane was that he was human. He piled up injuries. He got tired and was overwhelmed and his feet bled on cut glass.
-
Did anyone else get a headache when watching this film? I felt like a monkey was holding a camera while everything was happening. It was really disorienting and really tired out my eyes. Did the other Die Hards have this problem? I can't recall even if the fourth one was this shaky.
-
So now the movie can make its 500 millions, and we can all forget this thing ever existed.
Maybe I should go buy a Die Hard trilogy set before its too late…if it isn't already.
-
I might have to re-watch the other movies. I honestly don't rec all McLain ever talking about having a son.

McClane's son (and daughter) are shown in the first Die Hard.

Really? I couldn't remember that even though I wind up seeing the movie once a month lol.

I think all of them were well shot until the new one. Keeping the camera still is the basis of filming (even an amateur like me figured that one out on my own) and especially when you are making an action flick. I did not see the film but I can bet they were using lots of cgi. In Die Hard 4, the scene where the car almost crashes Mcclane and Farrell was a real car but shot separately.
In terms of action, "Speed" with Keanu Reeves is my all time favourite. 3/4 of the film is action but you never get tired out of it because its incredibely well shot and paced.
-
Just got back from seeing this. Friend wanted to see this. I wanted to see Wreck It Ralph. Guess who lost the coin flip.
Gotta love scenes like Mcclane driving over and killing innocent people because they were in the way. Or him being so ignorant to punch out some guy because he didn't speak the same language.
And what about such scenes where they fall from great heights only to just pick themselves up and walk off. The plot really felt rushed too. In fact it doesn't even appear until the last 20 minutes or so. The rest is just set piece after set piece.
Also lol at the scene where they are walking around Chernoble and the enemies have radiation suits on to be safe while Drake and Son just walk around in their regular gear. Of course later the enemies discover that all is fine and take off their radiation suits.
But yeah. It was just terribly bad. To the point where I was just laughing at it.

I bet your friend regrets winning that coin toss
-
He said it was better than the 4th one shrugs
I only saw bits of the first one aside from this tbh so I'm not the target audience.
-

I see this complaint a whole lot about the 4th Die Hard, and It baffles the hell out of me. I'm sorry, but am I the only person ever who watched the Unrated cut?
All the swearing was in where it should have been, and he says the full "Yippie-ki yay: line as he should.
-
Never watched the unrated version but the movie shouldn't have been PG-13 to begin with.
-
It was shot as an R and edited by the studio later into PG-13, so it was actually R to begin with. The Unrated version is the intended version.
-
Then releasing the PG-13 version to theatres was a dick move. Regardless of what actually happened someone messed that up.
-
-
This Die Hard movie died quite easily.
-
I thought it was pretty good. There's never not a good time to kill Russian mobsters
I mean i get that it's not die hard. But looking beyond that it's not that bad a film for what it is
