No gameplay vids. Guess they'll show more next year since it's still got a year and a half til release.
EA SUCKS but so does Bioware Thread

Hmm, still loads of time till release :|

Did they change morrigan's voice? She doesn't sound how I remember her sounding. Sure its been a few years since played teh first dragon age, so could be wrong.
Its the same voice. She's just not monologuing to a quiet backdrop at a campfire. I know it was Morrigan before she actually appeared visually.
-
All the fans are agreeing: She now looks like Lulu from Final Fantasy X.
-
Hey, anybody remember that creepy speech Sandal had from DA2? (You could get it from him if you kept talking to him in the mansion)
-
Hey, anybody remember that creepy speech Sandal had from DA2? (You could get it from him if you kept talking to him in the mansion)
I… did not get that. And I talked to him a lot!
...ah, its from the post-game. Neat.
Also. I want Sandal to be playable next game. Yes his dialogue would suck and it would take away some of the mystery about him, but...
Well I say that. But really Varric is the only one I care about.
Shale would be awesome but she's either dead or returned to dwarf form at the end of DA1, so...
-
I just hope they spare us the trope of killing of a party member in the first few minutes… it's getting a tad bit old by now.
I also don't feel it's a good tool to provoke drama to begin with. Also speaking about wishlist party members,
I once shared my desire a long time ago for a party member that's basically a failed shapeshifter(in this is informed by stuff I read a long time ago in those lore entries). Shapeshifters learn their abilities by living as the thing they want to transform into, the danger they face in that is that they can lose themselves to it and get stuck in their feral forms.I wanted for the hero to meet the character in his feral form while not knowing that it is a shapeshifter, over the course of the adventure he would learn about that fact and through their relationship either help the shapershifter regain his human form or make him embrace his feral form.
And I have no idea why I wrote this again but I guess I just wanted to have some subtle levels of fanfic alarm in a dragon age thread...

!
Non trailer screenshot, looks decent I guess. I'm getting an itch to replay origins again.
-
I played the hell out of Origins when it was out, several times over, every possible combination. But I couldn't get into II like, at all. I wanted to play it but .. it just didn't interest me one bit. Is it weird to be so in love with the first part of a series and so uninterested in the sequel? (cough Highlander) I couldn't even put my finger on why I didn't like it. Something just didn't click. But I've been waiting for Inquisition for a good while so I hope it will deliver the same kind of feelings I got with the first one.
-
It's not weird to not like a sequel. Did you just not like the new game mechanics? The item management? Being stuck in one city?
If you aren't going to play the game before DA:I I suggest at least watching a Let's Play or something because it is basically a set-up game. There's a reason it's being told as a story to Cassandra from Varric.
Non trailer screenshot, looks decent I guess. I'm getting an itch to replay origins again.
That actually is in the trailer.
-
^ my bad, did take that from a neogaf thread that implied it as such while fast browsing stuff.
-
I personally didn't really care for Dragon Age II too much because I got tired of the constant wave attacks, the very limited area and progression (when they first mentioned DAII would be in one city, I was imagining Clock Town from Majora's Mask), the limited customization for allies (seems to be fixed for DA:I), and I didn't really care for the new convo system (though it's not a deal breaker since I've played Deus Ex, Mass Effect, etc.).
As for DAII, can't the main plot points be simplified very easily?
! Protagonist revives Flemeth if she was killed.
Protagonist possibly kills Arishock leader.
Anders (That guy from Awakenings) bombs the chantry there and sets forth events for a war between the mages and the templars.
Protagonist on the run almost certainly not to be seen again due to a change in engines and being player controlled.
! Any information about returning characters can be done in DA:I since they have to introduce themselves to the Inquisitor anyway. -
I wonder if I will ever see my DA1 Warden ever again…
-
I'm apparently the only person that LIKED the changes DA 2 made. Including being in one city the whole time (You really learn your way around and get comfortable with it and the people in it) and not having to organize your 10,000 armor drops constantly for your companions and the updated battle system. Mage skill tree was thinned out and consolidated some, but Rougue and Warrior were way more fun.
Only thing I didn't really care for was the railroaded branch paths/ending. It really diminished re-playability that all your choices came out identical in the end.
And Varric was awesome.
-
I'm fairly ambivalent about being in one city. I neither like it better nor less to me it's just a choice you make depending on the narrative you want to commit on.
It's the execution I'm very lukewarm on for reason surely already mentioned in some way by either me or someone else, don't feel like falling into old arguments now.On a different note as much as I love my warden I just hope they are careful with the carrying over stuff. There is a point where it just becomes convoluted and unnecessary to link everything back when the storylines focus around different peopel anyway. But maybe that's just me.
-
I don't mind being mainly focused in one city, but if it's done, it really needs to be done better. Like I said, I was hoping for Clock Town type activity when I heard it was all going to be focused in Kirkwall. From what I hear, there also isn't any real difference for the timeskips aside from a reasonable amount of time for the main story to progress. I was hoping that if you made a decision, it could affect the way an area of Kirkwall changes from shops, quest givers, is the area poor or more prosperous now?. That kind of stuff.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
@RobbyBevard:
And Varric was awesome.
I liked everything I played with him, and everything I didn't get through seems great as well. I'm hoping that with him being in the trailer, it signifies him being a main character
Spoilers for leaked survey for Dragon Age: Inquisition
! From the survey that was leaked (and accurate so far), Varric wasn't mentioned or involved. The ones there that I can remember appeared to be Cassandra, Cullen, a Qunari (or Kossith), a female city elf, and a male tevinter mage. The qunari in the trailer was probably the companion we'll get.
-
The third installment of the Dragon Age franchise casts players as the head of the Inquisition, a recently resurrected organization charged with rooting out corruption and evil in the land of Thedas. As the game begins, the Inquisition has plenty to investigate. War, scheming, and political strife have left the major power groups in the Dragon Age universe unable to operate effectively, which is a problem when a hole opens in the sky and demons begin pouring out. Players must fight back against the demonic threat while exploring a vast world and consolidating power for the growing Inquisition. Large and varied environments, customizable armor, and the return of multiple player races are just a few of the ways BioWare is addressing feedback from previous titles in order to shape a new future for the franchise.
I think it's pretty safe at this point to say that Cassandra and Varric'll probably be party members at this point. Also, I'll admit to being surprised they're doing multiple races again. I wasn't expecting them to ever do that again except maybe in a multiplayer setting.
Edit: More info here. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/08/06/september-2013-dragon-age-inquisition-6119.aspx

The coverage trailer shows horse(riding), I still remember the days when this was something pretty challenging to do to the point that it was rather avoided.
The reason you have to justify the reason for the horse to be there(meaning enough travel area for it to be useful), clipping has been something difficult and things like do you have horse combat or not? Now we see it in pretty much every open world game where it makes sense. But seeing the thing in there I think lets us have a good idea of the minimal size of the world. Also from the footage I've seen I dig their style.
It's hard to explain, DA2 didn't look all too refined from an aesthetics standpoint and DA:O was ok for the time it came out but nothing to write home about.
This seems to hit a pleasing middle ground between pushing for pretty effects and stuff while not really going for realism. -
Multiple player races? cue hallelujah I'm amazed as well, although I wasn't one of the more vocal fanbase. I just thought it would be nice.
Anyway, EEEEEEEEE!!!! Must get new issue!!
-
Well, Varric is my team. Permanently.
Sorry everyone else, however compelling or interesting you may be, you're going to have to fight real hard over the remaining two slots.
-
Much more data.

-At least three playable races (female/male of humans/dwarves/elves). They're considering Qunari.
-Same three classes.
-Instead of just your characters growing, you also grow your inquisition army through lots of various methods ranging from doing favors, blackmail, finding ancient lore, getting ancient relics, obtaining secrets, making connections, etc, etc. An example of how this helps you is that say a castle turns you away. If you only have a few people, you might just be turned away. However, if your inquisition is an army, you can just siege the castle to get inside.
-"Question: Is there multiplayer in this game?" "BioWare: Boy we really loved Mass Effect 3's multiplayer. They just knocked it out of the park."
-The world is split up into parts across multiple countries, but they're large and explorable. Instead of progress being gated by how many of the missions you've completed, you are gated by the power of your inquisition. So, you have to go explore across all these areas and find ways to increase the power of your inquisition. Basically think of like DA2's first act where you had to amass a ton of gold, but on a much larger/broader scale with a lot more choice/variety in what you do, and that the entire game works like that. Also, the inquisition buffing stuff doesn't overlap with your character growth mechanics like gold did, so you don't have to avoid buffing yourself to save your cash. Their goal is that ultimately you can do the types of content you like and explore the places you like and still finish the game.
-They want to increase the variety of things you do. Think of your traditional kind of open world game where you have all sorts of various quest option types.
-The map spans from Eastern Ferelden to Western Orlais. "Each of the areas we're building is bigger than anything we've done before."
-The zones are all traditional open world zones where it's large open and there's interesting stuff scattered all around that can start quests or open a new side dungeon, etc, etc.
-You can run into random monsters in the wild and have a mount to help go through the giant open areas. There's a lot more environmental variety.
-Okay in summary if you've played Skyrim you know how this open world works.
-Environmental interaction is a notable focus. Mages can repair bridges, if you find an abandoned fort you can turn it into an inquisition base, and things like that.
-The PC version's controls will be tailored to the PC unlike DA2.
-The graphics look really good IMO.Originally Posted by shinobi602
- Wants to make the action less frantic and more deliberate, returning to more tactics-oriented approach to encounters. Big return to party-based tactics
- Part of that is slowing down speed of attacks, more important is designing enemies that force you to examine the battlefield and choose actions carefully
- Battles veer away from button mashing toward a structure where observation and reaction take precedence
- Instead of swarming enemies, your foes have specialized roles; work together and force you to size up the battlefield
- You won’t regularly see waves of new bad guys appearing out of nowhere to extend encounters
- PC gamers getting an optimized version; “PC actually is different, especially from a controls standpoint”, trying to “recapture the very tailored experience of DA:O on PC”
- Going from Eastern Ferelden to Western Orlais; repetitive environments are nowhere to be found in DAI like in DA2.
- Players aren’t just funneled down narrow corridors, the demo showed a bog, desert, a mountain range, all enormous and freely explored in third person.
- Lots of hidden things to find, caves, dungeons, corpses, etc that create other unique sidequests
- “Trying to drive exploration- something that frankly, Bioware hasn’t done in a while.” “In a way like Baldur’s Gate, areas that existed in part just to spaces that you went to, but they had a story of their own.”
- Want to make sure there a sufficient number of caves in the game that are each unique, and optional. If you have a mage in your group, you can use a spell to reassemble a crumbled bridge to reach a new area.
- Can also restore a ruined desert outpost into an Inquisition stronghold
- So much ground to cover that mounted creatures are implemented
- Monsters, and dragons for example, do not level up with you. Some are vastly more powerful, forcing you to come back later with proper experience
- Some environmental destructibility
- Warrior class has grappling chain that can pull enemies in close
- Enemy scenario: Fighting a massive, armored dragon, you can target a leg, send warrior into melee range to bash off armor, rogue can sneak up and poison the exposed limb, dragon stumbles around allowing others to unleash spells etc
- Weather effects can impact exploration, ex. Rainfall, desert sandstorms
- Rainy weather can make areas muddy, slowing down your traversal/agility in combat, while sandstorms can inflict damage causing you to seek shelter
- A new mage joins your party, Vivienne
- Both Varric and Cassandra also join you
- Working hard to make large areas interesting; slopes, rocks, elevations and your character has tailored animations for overcoming each. Ease of movement key.
- Morrigan is not a party member; not a cameo role though
- Collect resources/materials and craft armor for you and all your party members; heavy emphasis on customization
- Each armor retains a certain iconic look, but looks different on each character. They want the squadmates to each have an iconic look, but customize armor to tailor to each while retaining elements of that iconic look
- 3 classes to choose from of course: Warrior, rogue, and mage
- At least 3 races to choose from; when asked about Qunari, Mike Laidlaw says “Do we go to four? I don’t know. Definitely these are the safe bet”.
- Your racial choice colors your interactions with others; for example elves may be persecuted in some parts, but an enclave of elves is more likely to open up to one of their own.
- Chantry/Templars don’t respect your Inquisition, you have “persuade” them through your own means. You can come across a fortress and if refused entry, you can lay siege to it and break down the doors. What you do from there is your choice.
- Hinting that you have a base of operations, maybe a castle to call your own

Story
- Game begins as Thedas is in chaos
- Chantry and the mages are at war
- The Seekers of the Truth and Templars are no longer tied to Chantry rule
- Ferelden continues to recover from the darkspwan Blight that ended 10 years ago
- Orlais is involved with a civil war
- Tear in the sky links the real world to the Fade
- Magic and demons come from Fade
- Rip allows demons to cross freely instead of using a mage host
- Demons/abominations are running free all over
- With everything going on, “there is a suspicious level of chaos in anticipation of this event”
- Reinstitute the Inquisition
- This is an organization that doesn’t answer to any outside power
- Inquisition puts aside politics and extracts answers
- “…about looking into what conspiracies happen, what kind of dastardly deeds could occur, when people are weak and naturally torn apart”
Inquisitor
- Your hero acts as the head of the Inquisition
- Lead the organization rather than controlling a foot soldier
- You’re left as the only survivor early on, which leads to this ascension
- Create and guide the Inquisitor however you please
- 3 classes: warrior, rogue, and mage
- At least 3 races: human, elf, dwarf
- No pre-set name
- Fully voiced
- Can be male/female
- Events take place as you perform them, not being relayed by another character
- Will need to overcome resistance, but this becomes easier as the Inquisition gains more power/respect
- Inquisition’s reputation/strength go up as you finish objectives, gain items, help others
World
- Inquisition has a long reach
- Visit multiple large locations
- Several different regions
- Structural style like Dragon Age: Origins
- Access key story beats by reaching certain levels of power
- Explore to achieve that power
- Collect magical relics, solve mysteries, fight dragons, help others
- Don’t need to do everything
- Different resources to acquire better equipment and continue the story
- Won’t always be able to move from one area to another seamlessly
- “each of the areas we’re building is larger than anything we’ve built before”
- No repetitive environments
- Areas include a bog, desert, mountain range, can be explored freely in third-person
- Can take on unique quests by coming across things like an arcane device that lets you pinpoint the location of magic items
- Locations are like self-contained open worlds
- Each has a bunch of items to find and content to experience during day and night
- Game will have a mount system
- This will be more involved than just riding a horse around
- Very little is scaled to your level
- Can encounter monsters that are much more powerful than you
- Freedom is big, but BioWare as a story to tell
Frostbite
- Huge areas are made possible due to the move to Frostbite
- “We’re very happy with what we can do with the technology.”
- Will have some destructibility, game has a bigger focus on building
- Having a mage allows you to reassemble a crumbled footbridge to reach a new area
- Convert a ruined desert outpost into an Inquisition stronghold
- “If you destroy something, you can construct something.”
- Frostbite 3 allows the team to develop more easily on five platforms at once
- Better visuals on PS4/Xbox One than PS3/360
- Content being kept the same
- “Frostbite 3 is intended to bridge the gap between current-gen and next-gen”
PC
- Will be optimized for the platform
- “The PC actually is different, especially from a controls standpoint.”
- Caters to mouse and keyboard, unlike its predecessor’s tradition
Battles
- Will encounter lots of resistance
- Battle pace lies between Dragon Age 1/2
- Not always a pause-and-play affair, but not always filled with tons of action
- Directly control a character and you’ll notice control similarities to Dragon Age II
- Switch between all characters in your party at will
- Choose AI behaviors for allies if you’d like
- Commands are performed right away with a button push
- BioWare looking to make things less frantic and more deliberate
- Slowing down the speed of attacks while also creating enemies that force players to examine the battlefield
- “We’ve got that mesh of action and RPG.”
- Enemies have specialized roles that work together
- Better AI for enemies
- Enemies seem to make planned attacks based on their strengths and work together logically
- Players have a number of skill trees, specializations, abilities
- Classes have their own powers with tactical significance
- Party members can work together
More world details
- Areas will change based on what time it is
- Weather impacts exploration
- Rain can make a bog muddy, making travel slower
- Still has classic enemies including ogres, elves, qunari
Friends/foes
- Dialogue/story sequences are the best way to learn about your allies and their abilities
- This can also be done to a lesser extent in battle
- Vivienne: Inquisitor mage who was in line to hold the position of first encharter in the Circle of Orlais
- She wasn’t able to take the osition due to the Orlesian civil war
- Writers analyze the story’s main themes and conflicts, then create certain characters around them
- Not all characters are created so that you’ll like them
- Other allies and their loyalties are currently unknown
- Learn early on that there’s someone behind the demon breach and resulting chaos
- Won’t learn who you’re dealing with early on
- Cassandra and Varric from Dragon Age II are playable party members
- Morrigan won’t be a party member
- Morrigan’s role seems to be more than just a cameo
Crafting system
- Use materials from around the world and enemies you defeat to make customized armor
- “Crafting in Inquisition is about customizing yourself, your character, your looks…”
- You can, technically, eventually create any colored version of the armor your start out with on par with what you find late in the game
- Characters will keep their look, but the armor will have huge influence on how they look
Choices
- Will need to make choices as problems develop
- Not always about dark choices
- BioWare is looking for players to think about potential consequences and deal with them if they happen
- Dialogue wheel similar to that of Dragon age II lets you make choices
- Some improvements
- Optional addition being added to the wheel for more clarity
- Choices have an impact throughout the world
- “Loose ends are a constant problem… We have a responsibility to resolve at least some of them if we’re going to introduce new ones…”
- Choices involve themes, mysteries from previous Dragon Age games
- Game will offer clarity on things such as Red Lyrium, Grey Wardens’ activities, Flemeth, Morrigan’s fate
- BioWare working on the issue of bringing over previous choices in Inquisition
- “It’s very important to people, and it’s very important to us. We don’t want people to feel like they can’t buy a new console or change the platform they’re buying this game on simply because they want to make sure their saves are maintained.”
Multiplayer
- Not confirmed/denied
- “it was surprising how well it was received in Mass Effect, and we were really happy with how that worked out…”

Still reading but just that combat part is addressing a lot of what I disliked about DA2. It's kind of funny though I mean this doesn't sound like it accomodates for the people that disliked da:o combat and loved the da2 one.
I hope it controls well though on consoles because in all seriousness da:o was a mess on consoles from what I could gather.
Also I hope that they take behaviour like that of anders and trickle it into the companions. I really liked that he did the thing he did regardless of you. That's how humans work, sometimes they just gotta to their own shit regardless of your magic relationship manipulation skills. That said I would have liked the conversation leading up to the action being way more different.
If you had a good relationship with him it would have been nice if he'd just outright tell you his plans. -
Very nice.
My only worry is that they try to do TOO much, as it were. That can backfire.
-
That sounds scarily like Skyrim.
I fear for my ability to platinum this one.
Hopefully they skip the *explore every last inch of the game" trophy this time around, those were the big pains in both games. (Well, the second it was "find every copy of an ingredient… which boiled down to the same thing... especially since it was all missables)
-
Very nice. My only worry is that they try to do TOO much, as it were. That can backfire.
Which would be comically ironic given how Bioware took heat for doing too little with Mass Effect 3.
-
And DA2.
Okay, and since everybody and their mother is doing it elsewhere after this release, it must be done. It can't not be done:

I love everything I see, been replaying origins on the highest difficulty a bit and I just enjoy using all the tools that you have to decimate and encounter. (Just finished the ogre encounter in the ostagar tower. Lots of aggroed person running in circles and the rest shooting/hammering on the beast.)
Positioning is so key and exploiting enemy ai, I really disliked the DA2 infinite wave encounter design where it just felt that I was spamming stuff, I rarely paid attention to my position their because it was pretty frustrating to constantly realign yourself to very little benefit.
I liked though what they tried to do with some of their bosses in DA2 it felt pretty unrefined though after having done wow raids for a few years.

Bioware has announced Dragon Age Keep which is their way of importing files from the previous Dragon Age games to future Dragon Age games. From the looks of things, it appears that it will be much more detailed than the Mass Effect series.
http://blog.bioware.com/2013/08/28/the-dragon-age-keep/ - Blog post going into more details about the system.
https://dragonagekeep.com/ - Official site to sign up for the beta with a planned release of early 2014 for those who wish to participate.
-
It's definitely an interesting idea. It would be handy for people who haven't played the first two games. Like when I played Mass Effect 2 on my PS3 and was only able to select a few major choices because ME1 wasn't available on Playstation. So I was unable to have a lot of different scenarios done according to my Shepard's actions, which was kind of annoying. This would fix that.
Although I can already hear the fan outcry of, "They didn't earn all these choices!! This is cheating!!!" LOL.
-
Well, it was mainly created for save imports into the next gen systems from old gen systems, but they'll probably keep it going for future entries in the series.
-
What's sad is I'll import my save files . . . . . but I think I might go in and, ah, "fix" a few things.
! I killed Avernus in my first playthrough of DAO. I'm thinking I might go back and revive him.
-
I've never played all the way through DA2, so I'll be glad to edit that. Plus, I'm getting DAIII on the PC, and I only recently started playing DAO again on the platform. I got a ton of mods in though. So far, I'm enjoying the quest mods that were built in.
-
^ what quest mods are you using? I've settled mostly for cosmetic and armor mods.
Any recommendations? I've been a bit torn on what origin to play. Either City elf or Mage are my favorites.
But somehow the landsmeet alone makes me want to play the noble human origin.
For now I've brought the Mage and both elf ones to Ostagar. -
Although I can already hear the fan outcry of, "They didn't earn all these choices!! This is cheating!!!" LOL.
Considering I played through both games twice, and DA1 actually required you make all the opposite choices to platinum the game, I've technically done everything… it'd be nice to be able to tweak it to be what I specifically want... though I'd probably mostly go with the light side choices I actually made in part 1.
! Lets see… warden is a commoner dwarf thief that chose werewolves over elves, sided with the dwarf king that his sister was engaged to (not much choice there) and generally went the "save/forgive as many people as possible" route. Spared the dwarves. Made Alistair king, without a queen. Slept with Morrigan to avoid dying against the archdemon, but romanced Leiliana. Did the DLC quests. Then in part 2, hero pretty much took the same path, but sided with the downtroden mages usually... even though they always made me regret it.... TRIED to romance Aveline but couldn't, ended up romancing fellow thief Isabella, was buddies with Anders, and basically hated Merrill to take the safer better for her path... Had Bethany join the circle. Had Verric with me always.
! My second playthrough I was a complete psycho power hungry female elven bloodmage that made every evil deal I could and killed all other elves mages whenever possible (still sided with the werewolves, over elves, heh) .... made a golem army. Used Allistair then totally betrayed him, sided with bitch queen and Logain. Killed Leiliana, Wynne, Shale, and Zevran. Then in part two... pretty much the same thing, though she romanced and always sided with Merrill so we had a pair of bloodmage assholes that destroyed all other mages. Killed Carver in the caves. Had Verric with me almost always. Its an interesting way to approach the game completely differently both run throughs… though the effect of the choices in part 2 seem less obvious for the most part, since the end result was so railroaded.

Kal Sharok - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/519//?
-Quest mod that goes to the other Dwarven city and seems to be interesting. Incompatible with Ser Gilmore Companion mod, so disable either one.
[/hide]
I've only played 'Dragon Age Quest', 'Fragments of Ferelden', and 'Broken City' so far, but I've enjoyed all of them. No idea if I'll have compatibility issues with future quests. Here's a list of all the other mods I have installed though. My current avatar is the one I'm using in 'Fragments of Ferelden' and 'Broken City'.[hide]
Ser Gilmore Companion - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/851//?
-Ser Gilmore from Human Noble origin as a companion with what seems to be plenty of voice acted dialog and other lots of work. Fully romancable companion as well. Satsuki would probably enjoy this mod. Must disable Kal Sharok when this one is enabled.
FtG UI Mod - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/73/?
-Makes font bigger and easier to read. Helped to not strain my eyes as much.
Expanded Inventory - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/23/?
-So I don't have to worry as much about having limited inventory.
Dark Ritual Deleted Scene - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/1611/?
-Restored scene that Gaider was involved with in a comic by a DeviantArt user.
Personal Annoyance Remover - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/98/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D98%26preview%3D&pUp=1
-I believe this gets rid of the more annyoing spell effects during cutscenes.
Morrigan Restoration Dialog fixpack - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/1120/?
-Restores dialog to Morrigan.
Madd Gift Guide - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/385/?
-Descriptions for gifts.
Alistair Epilogues - The Royal Wedding - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/1839/?
-Wedding for female human noble marrying Alistair. I assume Satsuki would definitely love this.
Lock Bash - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/301/?
-When you don't have a lock-picker though I do believe this has a chance to break items in the chests.
Improved Atmosphere - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/577/?
-Tries to make the game more immersive through various ways.
JB3 Textures - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/15/?
-Texture pack….see images on site.
Extra Dog Slot - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/664/?
-Dog acts as a party member with interrupted dialog without having to take up a party space.
Dragon Age Redesigned - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/686/?
-Redesigns the Dragon Age NPCS through three packs - Immersion, Beauty, or Balanced.
More hairstyles - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/392/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D392%26preview%3D&pUp=1
-…..More hairstyle options at CC. My current avatar is using the last one for males.
ZDF Dialog fix - http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/928/?tab=2&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D928&pUp=1
-Restores dialog for all companions.
[/hide]Edit: Also had to do a bit of editing to get Dragon Age Redesigned and Increased Immersion to work together. Carrion Birds is also something you would generally disable since it customizes the loading screen to put its title there.
As for Origins, dwarves are always the correct answer. My personal list for best to least favorite as far as the origins themselves goes though:
1. Dwarf Noble (I go for female due to having two brothers.)
2. Dwarf Commoner (I go for male for having a sister.)
3. City Elf (I go for female since I like the way the quest works better than.)
4. Human Noble (I go for female due to brother and future Alistair Romance and queen status.)
5. Mage (I go for male….to have a male human. This origin goes to romance Morrigan.)
6. Dalish Elf (I go for male....to have male elf. Goes to romance Leliana.! Also sacrifices himself which makes for a bit of a tragic romance and ballad at the end. Surprising companion dialogue in DA2 if you sacrificed yourself where Merril asks Anders if he met with the Warden, he explains he didn't, but had a friend who did that told him stories, and Merril asks to hear the stories.
Human Noble obviously has the biggest connection to the main story. Dwarf Noble has pretty big connections with the Orzammar plot (Dwarf Commoner to a lesser extent) with Bhelen being the Dwarf Noble's brother. Dalish Elf has the least plot connections.
Lets see… warden is a commoner dwarf thief
Highfive!

Ahahaha. When talking about races the devs always like to comment about how fervent the dwarf players are.
I sadly have only finished one playthrough, my Human Noble. But I also have my Human Mage and my City Elf, both playthroughs of which I would really love to finish and transfer to DA2 if I could just get off my ass and do it. My Human Mage I made as goody-two-shoes as I possibly could, a sheltered little thing shoved into the real world and forced to face it, but being as bright as she could in the process. A freaking Care Bear.
My City Elf on the other hand I had more fun than I thought I would by making her as don't-take-shit as possible. A rebel, one who I'm surprised didn't get the alienege burned down since "diplomacy" wasn't in her dictionary. An elven warrior, it made the armor look interesting.
I had JUST started my Dalish Elf, whom I wanted to make a little Dalish princess, all haughty and full of herself, convinced the Dalish really were descended from the High Elves of old like the legends say. Sadly haven't gotten her past Ostagar.
@RobbyBevard:
! Used Allistair then totally betrayed him, sided with bitch queen and Logain.
How COULD you!!?
Anyway, who wants a nug?
-
How COULD you!!?
Because she was evil bitch bloodmage character that hated everyone.
Except Sten and her dog, and sometime Morrigan.
-

Not after the amount of squeaking it did in the campsight. Didn't think it was that bad at first until it happened constantly in the background with characters talking.

Any particular reason she liked Sten who goes around talking about how dangerous magic is, women's place isn't on a battlefield, and the society probably hates blood magic especially? Probably my second favorite character in Origins though next to Loghain. Hilariously, Mary Kirby wrote both of those characters and Varric in Dragon Age II, so she seems to be my favorite character writer in the series. She also wrote Merill too.
Also, for Dragon Age III: Inquisition, I hope we get an antagonist as good as Loghain. It's surprisingly rare to get an antagonist who has genuinely good motives for his actions and personal weaknesses rather than just being corrupt, evil, or mind controlled(driven crazy). No idea how well Meredith and I suppose Orsino were in DAII since I only played halfway through the first act.

I think we can say Orsino had good motives, that he was genuinely trying to look out for his fellow mages and not getting psychotic about it like Meredith. Meredith wanted to keep the city safe, but brought things to extremes. Orsino had good intentions throughout the game, until the end when all the build-up finally made him snap.
Although it was hinted at that he was dabbling in darker magic.

Because despite all that, he didn't complain if YOU were doing magic (and I squashed anyone else that wanted that power, so he liked that), came to respect me pretty fast, and he NEVER complained when I decided someone needed to die or did something most of the rest of the party would view as evil as wrong. He generally agreed with it as the right thing to do, in fact.
Morrigan was much the same way. Pretty much everyone else got all argumentive about you doing anything immoral.
Plus… story choices meant most of the other characters were dead.
-
Oh yeah. I just remembered Sten was the only other character than Morrigan who couldn't die in Origins. You could leave him behind, but that's not a guaranteed death.
-
It's definitely an interesting idea.
I myself never finished Origins, 4 characters and never finished one playthrough. Never touched DA2 for some reason. But with DA3 that might change. Hell I might even finish this a couple of times. So I don't mind this at all and can't understand why anyone would hate it.

Some screencaps popped up:
http://cudathedas.tumblr.com/post/59899630685/i-love-this-game-dragon-age-inquisition-3Well, they're definitely high-def. And I know his face is mostly hidden behind the helmet, but from what I can see the hero's face is kinda ugly.
I'll say this though: That flaming sword is faaaaaaaaabulous.

Qunari playable race comfirmed also 14 min video from the pax panel.
Looks great. The combat speed is way more my alley for what I'd want out of dragon age. Friendly fire is also back as an option slider. Which makes me happy. Storm of the century team wipe mayhem!!!
They have my interest, will be optimistically cautious. -
Qunari confirmed? Well, I think a large section of the fanbase just broke their windows screaming.
Combat speed looks nice for me as well. I liked the combat look in DA2, but it got tough to control after a while. And, let's be honest, unrealistic (as unrealistic as a fantasy RPG can get, anyway).
Here's a longer two-part vid of the demo:
Game Informer has a full rundown of the demo here:
http://www.gameinformer.com/games/dragon_age_inquisition/b/xboxone/archive/2013/08/31/pax-prime-demo-reveals-more-dragon-age-inquisition-intel.aspxApparently combat doesn't scale like it did in DAO and DA2. Not sure how I feel about that.
-
What's sad is I'll import my save files . . . . . but I think I might go in and, ah, "fix" a few things.
! I killed Avernus in my first playthrough of DAO. I'm thinking I might go back and revive him.
Is that bad?
[hide]I killed Sophia and then killed Avernus for his robe.[/hide]

[hide]I want to bring Avernus back so he can continue his research, under a more moral code. I want to see what his research uncovers, and if it pops up in DAI. Partly to see how it benefits the Grey Wardens, and yes, to see if it allows my Female Cousland and Alistair to have children. Shut up, I'm a fangirl.
I killed Sophia too. No way in HELL I wasn't taking that armor. [/hide]

Well, at least we now know the answer of if it would be possible for Qunari to do the deed with other races unless Bioware's going way back when race actually restricted romances.

Those videos..Feels just like Skyrim…
