To be honest there's not much to really talk about. Feels like forever since we had something new announced despite the fact that it was only a few weeks back when we saw Banpresto's stuff. And new releases are mostly Z stuff which not everyone cares about too

Most of the people I know aren't as interested in collecting anymore. Pretty much overfed, to much stuff being released. Same counts for me. Only getting the really awesome POPs recently.

Well not everyone like Z stuff wich we are getting these days… In my case in taking a breaking due to this xD. After they are gone with all Z movie merchandising i'll back to collect hahaha.

Yes, I agree. I think when an event happens we post about 10-20 pages worth in only a few days. But, nothing really that great is coming out. Lots of stuff, I guess, but it's all little things. I agree that it's over saturated and it takes something new and special to catch people's attention. Plus I've seen many collectors here slow down or stop collecting altogether.

Personally I feel One Piece needs to have something other than POPs and random DPCF to choose from. We never got Figmas, RAH, ALTER, or things like that. Most of our alternatives are prize items (which are getting worse and worse quality wise IMHO) or shitty little figures that are basically just filler.

Personally I dont have an interest in re-released POPs or Law, Smoker and Tashigi stuff. So not much to talk about. Most of the Z stuff I'm bothered about still aint coming out anytime soon. (Chopper is next month right?) and not many POPs coming that I care about otherwise. (Robin, Sadi and Califa) The GLX line can't decide on if it's doing Z or PH ones. So we are left with half assed versions of each. WCF is plodding along far too slowly. And the ones that do look good are too difficult to get a hold of. FAZ is in the same boat as GLM. Putting out lines like Supernova, Marines and Pre-TS Battle versions yet half assing those. But at least they're doing a good job with variation on the chars they get out.

Not including the small sets like Styling, FC or MBH since I never find those worth getting THAT excited over.

I was already pretty excited about this new IK due to Smoker and Law, but Smoker in Tashigi's body???? Hell yes!

I'll need to get him/her, plus swordmen stuff (Ryuma, Zoro and Tashigi) and memories (Shanks, Z and maybe Ace). IK is doing better than POPs for me. Too bad is too hard to get them outside Mandarake…

Not sure about the quantities, but past last chance figures (Z, Childhoshi) have been pretty much in the B prize range price.

Second Chance really differ when it comes to quantity/prices on second hand market, but when it's not re-colours but original figures it's usually not crazy expensive. It should be a couple of thousand yen more than A-B-C.

Yeah, I totally agree with you as well Louis. I guess I was kind of a late collector when it comes to One Piece. I didn't really start until the MarineFord arc aired back in June 2010. The moment WB caused the tsunami, Aokiji froze it, Mihawk attacked WB and Jozu deflected it I suddenly felt like I needed to display all of these characters together and POP seemed the best way to go!!

I was then on a frantic POP collecting mission for about 18 months. I think once I finally got Kizaru, my excitement started to fade. I wanted to try and rekindle that excitement, so I started hunting rare figures like Bellemere & Carue, but they just left me pocketless, lol

The Sailing Again line has brought me some new enjoyment, and with Franky around the corner I'm quite excited about completing that collection, but once I have him it'll only be side characters and arc villians left so I really don't know whether i'll continue collecting.

Try checking the General Collectibles Thread. There are more excitements there. But since the interests are varied, the discussions aren't intense.
But surely you could notice more happiness there over here (which is full of complaints hehe).

One thing One Piece merchandise badly needs is giving license to Medicom Toy, Alter, GSC to sculpt their figures. Then probably we could be excited again.

^we've been waiting so long for that to happen but I doubt that GSC and Alter will ever get the license.

OT- personally I've stopped collecting; I even sold most part of my collection. It's just lost its appeal to me and once you realize that, it's better to give it a rest and don't waste any more money. I still check out news once they arise, in case a figure gets shown that could revive my excitement (so far it did not happen).

My passion for collecting figures is directly attributed to my excitement for the manga, as all of my figures are from Shonen series.

One Piece is introducing a lot of new characters now, so It'll be a while before they're all established enough to warrant figures in imho. I think once we get to the end of the current story arc and get some big battles with the Yonkou and their allies I'll be excited again.

I wouldn't mind having a TS Kidd and crew once we see him in action. FI & PH have been relatively tame in sense of battles. I like a single fight to span many chapters/episodes.

The only other series I collect from are Toriko, Dragon Ball, JoJo's Bizarre Adventures, Guyver & Fist of the North Star. Sadly the latter two haven't had much new over the past 10 years due to lack of mainstream success. Sure the Guyver manga is still running, about 16 pages ever 1-2 months, and FOTNS had the Hokuto Musou games that revived it a bit, but they're starting to get stale. We have got the new Figma Guyver-1 prototype though, so that's something at least.

I know this is a bit off topic and I'm talking about general collectibles, but every series peaks and troughs. JoJo is getting a lot of success at the moment with the new Anime series running which is actually very very good indeed. We've also got the All Star Battle PS3 game coming out in August, (which I'm actually more excited about than I am for Pirate Warriors), which is making the Medicos Ent. and remaining Medicom Toy figures I need more and more appealing.

Toriko just keeps going from strength to strength and I'm highly anticipating the One Piece x Toriko x DB Crossover on the 7th I'm still a bit gutted that PLEX chose not to continue the FIGUAX line, we still need Zebra!

As far as DB goes, well I don't think I need to say much about that, but we've got the new anime movie coming soon, so expect some merchandise to come on the back of that.

Well I was really hoping we'd see a Miyazawa Spring Expo next month, but so far no announcement :sad: I fear we may not get one this year.

After that it's Megahobby Expo on the 25th May (My daughters birthday ) so still 2 months to wait i'm afraid….........I did say things would go quiet after Wonder Festival.........

I wouldn't really say my interest in collecting dropped shrugs My general interest in OP did drop since I found a more interesting story/fandom to belong to, but it didn't really affect me buying figures.
As for 'the POP craze' - once again, I don't really feel like it died out, for me personally this year a few figures that I really wanted and thought would never see the light of day are being released (Shiliew, Sadi-chan and Kalifa) so I feel pretty positive.

It's been indeed silent in the news field lately, and we're mostly getting Law, Smoker and Tashigi nowadays so there's not much to talk about.

The forum always has ups and downs, we're probably just used to the current lines of figures, range of characters etc. Especially outside One Piece there's a still lot of good stuff. I'm sure those who think they've quit just need the right figure to come along.

But I definitely relate to the need to reshuffle the ol' collection a bit.

Theres too much reissue, recolours, resculpts and versions.
I just know that there is more to come…

Pffft yeah I hardly ever come around anymore either I just really cannot afford to spend like I used to on stuff, though if I had the cash I'd still be buying. The stuff I REALLY want to get still (Robin POP recolor, DP Croc, crimin!Nami) are things that are all too expensive. I've got stuff to pay off right now. I've had to be really selective I'll always keep checking for new stuff, but I have some very different goals in mind to accomplish, and figures have to come behind all of that now.

Wow, I didn't notice the faucet running water. Those little things are so realistic it looks just like an actual kitchen! Also agree that SW Sanji is best Sanji POP.

Thanks Louis! Actually when I took Sanji out of his box I had thrown the accessories in with him, but I really should have taped them down because they went flying everywhere. I save boxes to ship in and they fell into that abyss. Luckily I was able to find them quickly v_v;;

hahahehhh… ehhh... it takes a while to amass that much stuff. Ideally I suppose I'd like to have a setup like that for most of my favorite characters. The Bakuman RAHs have my attention first for that, though. I always think it's a shame to take apart the displays that I make so I'd like to keep figures on display in such a way, even though it takes up lots of space.
I hear ya about other things coming first before figures, Arei. That is the only reason I haven't taken the plunge in buying more RAHs.

This stuff is mostly Re-Ment, they carry it at HLJ (and amiami, now that I look). I think re-ment is 1/12 - 1/10 scale, but it does vary. They seem the right size for Sanji, but food can be big or small so you can kind of get away with a range of sizes. They are too small for my RAHs for sure though, which makes me sad. A good size for Figmas, Nendoroids, Pinky:st. I used to split sets with people, not sure anyone would be interested anymore. This set looks good though Sanji doesn't really need more stuff! http://www.hlj.com/product/REM50431. I wouldn't suggest using Barbie miniatures as they tend to be gaudy with less detail as well as low quality.
It's a lot of random investment for your figures, but I gotta tell ya, it adds a whole new level of fun and play. I found that water randomly in my miniatures, I'm not even sure it went with that set SW Sanji is sooo awesome! Makes me sad I don't like the other SW ones nearly as much

Other than that I only know about MegaHobby Expo on May 25th :sad:

Even if there is a Miyazawa, we never get prototypes. Likely just a painted Z Sanji and/or Shiki

Aw well, at least we'll have a pre-order announcement from MH either tomorrow or next Wednesday (More likely next Wednesday as 1Up hasn't already opened pre-orders, lol). Any guesses who'll be next?

I hope it's not just the Benn Beckman re-release…....:sad: I think that may just be for international distributors.

Also, I agree with what most people aer saying....collecting POP changed. It was such an excitement at first. I dont think MH is really to blame, because even if it is Alter or GSC, without good scuplts they have nothing. I like to think it is the characters that are being released. It is not....how should I put this...accurate to the need of the population.

If Kid/Killer was released a year ago during the height of the Marine Ford battle, it will be a hit because it is relevant. The character is fresh in people's memory. If Kid/Killer was released roughyl around the same time as Law, it could be a hit also becuase it is the novas.

Like right now...if MH release a Monet or a CC, everyone will drool and hype over it.

Thinking back...POP was released pretty much in correlation to the arc. (or at least when there is 'some' relevance) ViVi and Ace is a good example of that. Remember when Bellamere was a shelf-warmer because noone really paid much attention to her at first?

It won't be Beckman, he was a part of the March catalog for release in late July/early August along with Shanks. Orders for Beckman closed with MegaHouse on the 22nd. No worries.

It's a lot of work, but I will try!! Kind of a shameless plug, but I'm sick of Miku, nendos, and the same popular figures posed in front of flowers getting picture of the day on MFC. One of my Sanji photos is battling it out with Miku, so please favorite and vote/rate/score it just because I'm so friggin' tired of the same shit on the main page. A vote for Sanji is a vote for One Piece!!

IK Tashigi SA fig!!! She is absolutely beautiful! Here I said I'm not feeling much excitement about OP figs a couple days ago, well Tashigi has revived me. Love her face, the expression, cute. Everything about her is plain awesome. The only negative thing I can say is her finish is very shiny, like they coated her in gloss, her flower shirt especially. My lighting makes her look shinier than she is normally though so keep that in mind. I could care less though. Definitely worth the 5000 yen I paid.

It's a lot of work, but I will try!! Kind of a shameless plug, but I'm sick of Miku, nendos, and the same popular figures posed in front of flowers getting picture of the day on MFC. One of my Sanji photos is battling it out with Miku, so please favorite and vote/rate/score it just because I'm so friggin' tired of the same shit on the main page. It's a nice photo indeed (even though I think him all suit up and being in the kitchen at the same time looks kinda weird and his original POP with rolled up sleeves would have worked better for this concept? idk) - and you've got the PotD at the moment I'm seeing this Congrats!

Mm, good suggestion!! Most of my POPs are in storage, but I think I will give NEO Sanji a go, maybe back to the viewer and nami going through the fridge.
The NEO is nice for being more casual, but with SW I can put accessories in his hands, what a toss up!

I finally got second box of Z Styling today. Has been sent out by AmiAmi in the end of December. I'm going batshit crazy with this post traffic block we have going on here (there's no official news on it, the post it making it look like nothing's happening) - most of SAL parcels from Dec to February (I guess March too? Though ones from Feb and March seem to be getting through quicker) are late and like, some arrive few weeks late (usually SAL takes exact 21 days to get here from Japan or USA), some arrive few months (!!!) late like 4 months late.
At first I was thinking there's a slowdown going on due to New Year holidays but it's almost April?.. I guess if nothing changes in a couple of weeks time I'm going to attack central HQ of our post company with claims in person.

Anyhow. Back to figures. They are lovely. Simple but lovely, nice quality and all, they look wider than usual stylings due to all weapons.
I was getting kind of depressed reading all of recent 'the merchandise hype is dying' posts here, I personally feel like I enjoy this hobby as much as I did when I started it about 6 years back and when reading your comments on how dull it's been getting I'm starting to get nervous that I might fall under this spleen mood soon too and I really wouldn't want that to happen But these figures kinda cheered me up today (maybe it's just becaue I finally got them after all the waiting LOL) and even made me move around my Nami shelf a bit. Good times.

In case anybody still needs them, I have a spare Zoro, Sanji and Nami for $13 each.

I'm glad you were cheered up!! Certain things always bring me out of figure doldrums as well, new figures that are actually nice is one of them!!

That sucks big time about your postal slowdown!! I would march down there and demand some answers. Waiting a few months for anything to arrive would put me on pins and needles, personally!!
