Well AP Residents, in exactly seven days, the INCREDIBLY popluar Naruto finally premieres on Toonami as one of their brand new fall shows. I went ahead and made this post for a couple reasons..one being I haven't had any posts recently for being off the forum for 'bout a month and next because it will probobly be made anyway, if not now, then later. The dub is being handled by Sho Pro and Viz (The same people who brought over the english versions of Gash Bell and Inuyasha) and it looks by the previews to be a fairly decent version. A Plus for the raving Narutards is that it will be given a TV-PG rating (The same as Dragonball Z's uncut run has gotten) which obviously means as few edits as possible, including a good amount of the bloody action left in. Now some of you are probobly going "Shinny, why in the blue hell did you make this thread…it's a week away?!" Simple, that way, you can spend the upcoming week doing all the ranting, raving, complaining, predicting that you like to do. Think of it as a "Pre-Show" discussion. Same rules apply to this as does every other thread. No flaming, no bashing, no "NARUTO IS TEH SUCK! THEY SHOULD PUT DBZ BACK ON! DIE MUTHERFUCKERS!!", NONE! If it gets outta hand, I will request this thread to be locked. Now that that's outta the way, you are free to gab, gab, gab for as long as it stays civil. Now post, my little puppets, POST I SAY! I'm going to keep an open mind for the dub. I'm actually a little curious about how the characters will sound (I heard Kakashi will be done by the guy that did Spike in Cowboy Bebop).
Any thoughts edit-wise? Heard they'll apparently keep the blood (aside from excessively silly blood spills I guess).

Yes, Kakahsi is being done by Steven Jay Blum, the man who did Spike in Bebop and Mugen in Samurai Champloo. A good majority of the blood IS staying in. About 80% of the gore will still be there.

www.leafninja.com has a very good interview with the lady that is doing Naruto's voice. I was pretty impressed with her attitude and knowledge, so I'm actually anxious to see how the voices sound.

As long as Lee and Gai don't suck, I'll watch. Heck, I'll probably buy the Dvds too. I think it's gonna be a good dub to tell the truth. :P

I don't think Naruto is going to be rated TVPG. I heard that it's gonna be TVY7 just like all the other Toonami shows. Plus Cartoon Network is advertising it towards kids so I don't think they'll rate it anything higher than TVY7. Of course it could be a strong TVY7 like Justice Leage is.

Well am looking forward to the Dub, Gash Bell/ Zatch Bell is pretty good,(In Fact its one of my favorite Dubs) so I think Naruto is going to be good.

I did too but then I saw another of Cartoon Networks fall commercial's last night and you heard Naruto say something like "What is this?" And it does not sound nearly as good as the Japanese Voice…actually..its alot less annoying then the Japanese voice so it might actually be better, that woman can sure voice a dude good.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear Yuri Lowenthall will voice Sasuke. Mainly because he did such a great job voicing the Prince in PoP: Sands of Time. I have a feeling the Naruto dub won't suck as much as the One Piece dub anyway :P. If they release unedited DVD's I'd probably take a gander at them

I read in the resent anime insider that Naruto will get an uncut DVD release. First they will release the TV episodes in march and then in july they will release the uncuts in a thirteen episode box set, and so on and so on. Hooray for Viz.

I wonder what his dub voice will sound like… You think they might give him a chinese accent or something? and for some reason, I picture they might give Gai a texan accent and Asuma a military drill instructor voice >.>

In Sho Pro anime, do they normally delete kanji? I don't think there'll be an uncut DVD, since Gash Bell isn't getting one.

no they dont delete the kanji if u ever look at store signs and kiyo's hw books its still there :)

Ah; that's cool. Obviously, most of the blood will be erased, and I have no idea if they'll keep the Sexy no Jutsu the same. They'll probably digitally add a swimsuit to him.

There are definately uncut dvds coming out. They come out next summer, which is why I'm happy I have fansubs.

just about everyone i know right now is running around like chicken little screaming " the sky if falling! the sky is falling!" about how this dub will kill naruto & i'm getting sick of it. i'm saving my judgement until i see it with my own two eyes & square nose. only thing i'd really hate is if they give rock lee & chouji bad VAs & if they edit out the blood/perverted scenes too much.

I'd say that by the looks of it, it will turn ut pretty good. It is leaving some of the blood in though, because in the commercials it shows Naruto punch somebody (not the scene wherehe punches Haku) and blood squirts out of his nose (It's a very little scene so next time you see it look very closely) and then the scene where Sasuke throws the Devil's Wind Shuriken the blood on his mouth is still there. If they don't give it a TVPG rating (though i've read on numerous occasions that it has got one), i'd still say by the look of things that it'll have blood like DBZ's edited run had at least.

I don't know about anybody else, but I'm just happy we seem to be getting hte original BGM in the dub. That was my main concern. Iffy voices are fine, but screw up the music and count me out.
At least they SHOULD have the original background music, or else have a VERY good excuse as to why it plays on their official site.

You get an AMEN on that from me, sgamer. It especially leaves me pleased that they put the freaking MAIN THEME as the theme for the page. I regard the Naruto Main Theme as one of the greatest instrumental anime songs, partly due to it's relistenability and such. Naruto simply has great music, and to remove it would be travesty.
Now, although we know it's gonna be on the DVD releases, all I gotta say is Prays for Rocks

Toonami will probably just play a quick fifteen second intro with various clips of the show like they did with DBZ when it used to play on there.
Though it would be awesome to have Rocks on there. Only episode two will tell.

I checked out the website, it looks pretty cool. The Trailer sounded really cool (maybe a little overdramatic though), Naruto's voice sounds good and I was impressed on how they did on the pronounciations.

I can't wait till' Oct 1st when Bobobo-Bo-Bo-Bobo joins Naruto, One Piece, and (even though it's shitty as hell) Yu-Gi-Oh! on Toonami. It'll be kinda like watching a moving ish of Weekly Jump.

I never liked Rocks much myself either. To tell the truth, there are relatively few Naruto op/ed that I actually like (Fighting Dreamers, Haruka Kanata, and like… no endings that I like in particular), but I'll be happy if they keep them anyway. I'm really happy they're keeping the background music, that stuff's pretty cool. ;P
