Pacific Rim, a new movie by director Guillermo del Toro, that pays homage (with an original storyline and cast of characters, of course) to aspects of fictitious Japanese culture; mostly (animated) mecha series, and giant monster films called Kaiju by many.

But seriously… Never heard about the film (which isn't out yet), until I read about it on yahoo.com.
Trailer looks pretty neat though (if but nothing for the visuals), and it's exactly what I expected once reading about the film.
