I'm doing a paper about the contribution of Japanese manga to the spread of Japanese culture. I'm finding trouble finding any good sources. Does anyone know of a site with lots of info? Particularly one with manga sales outside of Japan? Please and thank you! 😄

You'll definitely want to focus on France's comics culture. France is the number one manga market outside of Japan

My advice depending on the expectations for this paper (is it highschool/university standart) write the publishers(or rather try to find the person that can forward you to the right place to ask) and ask politely for whatever data they have, even if it's not up to date.

Also be smart when asking, state very clearly for what you need the data exactly, so don't be vague and just say it's for a paper. Try to explain what you want to use the data for (Do you want to compare them for some purpose or do you just want to have some data backing up your statements, etc). Being polite and writing your request formally without 10 mistakes per sentence should be given.

I did something similar for a different topic and I did get data from three years back, people are generally really friendly to students.
Good luck and have fun datamining!

I found this out after some research as well. I will definitely keep this in mind. Thank you for your help!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I just realized that my opening post is too vague…😊

This is just a high school paper so expectations aren't that high, really. This information will I've found some sources already, but ANY information would be very much appreciated!!!

Info that I would really need is the growth of manga sales of outside Japan(mainly USA and France). Japanese traditions, monsters, folklore, wardrobe, food, etc. that are frequently seen in manga would be very much appreciated. I know many people here read manga, so examples would be very nice too.:happy:One example is the Zoro's haramaki/belly band(Japanese wardrobe).

Again, ANY and ALL help is appreciated. Thanks DarthAsthma for the advice on researching!
