Some characters don't translate well from 2D into 3D; Pearl is one of them.
If I recall correctly, they even try to avoid showing her looking into or directly away from the camera because of her profile.
-
Steven looks like a human Sans… without eyes.
-
Finally caught up after several.. months o_o. But yay! Peridot! :D
And ahhh Steven, him and his non-judgemental and earnest approach into seeing the best in everyone so much so that he charms the enemy into friendship <3
I see a role model in this character. I wish we could all be more like him. -
Pop figures are always horrifying. I have no idea why they're so popular when they're so consistently scary looking. But yeah I hate them.
And no, those coming out doesn't mean the show is getting any real merchandise or anything… POP does figures for damn near everything.
Actually, this is the first of 5 brand deals with companies to make merchandise for the show. Just Toys is doing 3D Backpack (hangers?) Dog tags, and "Fun Packs". Which could include small figures, but probably won't. PhatMojo is doing foam toys like Garnet's gaunlets and the other's weapons plus Plushies in 2016. Zag Toys in 2017 will be making minifigures, bobble heads, and "more". That is most likely our best bet. Toy Factory is making "assorted novelties."

Neat.
I guess the POPs are just able to crank the ugly things out in about 20 minutes is the main difference.
I just want a cheesburger backpack.

The real scary thing is that apparently is one of the character designers from the show worked on the Pop's designs. And the crewniverse love em. But then again, if I worked on a show, I'd be happy for any kind of merch at this point haha.
-
So I finished watching all the episodes. The last ones were kinda annoying, Peridot is great in small dosis but having four episodes in sequence focused on her was a bit too much. Other than that, I'm enjoying a lot everything about this series so far. And I can see why everyone mentions the "Stronger than you" moment, I must have rewatched that scene at least 20 times (still, I think "We need to talk" takes the trophy as my favorite episode so far).
-
I'm buying the Garnet one if I see it at a reasonable price. Amethyst looks ok too. Pearl and Steven are kinda creepy. But I wouldn't buy them anyway.
-
I don't know why those black eyes are so much creepier on Steven than on Amethyst. On her, they just look like normal cartoon eyes; on Steven, they look like empty eye sockets.
-
It's probably his smile that is draging everything else into a descent to hell.
-
Yeah, I think you're right; the teeth and cheekbones give his face a skull-like appearance.
-
I haven't even played this game
-
POPs in general have a generic (and almost souless) look about them, but I'm just glad there's finally some form of Steven Universe figures available. Will probably wind up buying Garnet and/or Amethyst, though I might try to give the eyes a paint job to make them look less like soul-sucking sockets.

Wait's finally over fellas and felines! Steven returns in January!
Unfortunately with another bomb week because networks.Link above contains brief descriptions of the upcoming episodes. So avoid if you want to avoid spoilers.
-
Damn, if the cycle was off by one more day, I could claim to have the same birthday as Steven Universe. This is a great gift nonetheless, though.

Well, the audio only came out of my left headphone, so there's probably an issue with the audio distribution

rapid excited vibrating
After the fiasco that was UK cartoon networks editing (they removed the salty delicious gayness from the Rainbiw Quartz fusion dance and thereafter fortunately they did not touch Jailbreak) I can't wait to see this Stevenbomb - they're always spectacular plus if it's a group of diplomats it might not just be Ruby and Sapphire????
mORE GEMS?!?!?!
Yes please -
I bought Funko Pop Steven for my younger brother for Christmas. I was pleasantly surprised to see a creative detail on the back of Steven's head. The Poofs of his hair arrange themselves into a pseudo rose image.
-
! Who would have thought the story between two lesbian space rocks would be so interesting, and cute! A decent way to start off the week.
-
! This might be the most aesthetically pleasing episode to date. It was absolutely gorgeous.
! To top it off, the story was well done. I've never been fond of Garnet, but this episode changed that a bit. It's refreshing to see her so inexperienced and curious.
! It was also nice to finally get a proper glimpse of homeworld and how gems work. Makes me wonder if Garnet was a brand new gem, or a Garnet that acted differently from standard single-gem Garnets. -
! Well…we didn't see homeworld but we definintely got a lot of interesting insights with this one. I just love how this show just does so well in giving little tiny hints along the way about characters. Yeah obviously we got a ton out of Garnet but Pearl is definitely really interesting considering how Garnet labeled her as the terrifying rogue pearl.
! Remarkably gorgeous ep and with a lot of lovely feels.
! I also love how Garnet got the "welcome to Earth" line from Rose. -
! That was really sweet. It wouldn't have hurt to have some silhouettes with Rose during that attack though.
-
PS: for the love of god, DON'T look up Steven Universe episode previews on youtube. Apparently all the bomb episodes have previews placed online and I accidently spoiled myself. One of them especially has a REALLY BIG FAT SPOILER in it so…just a heads up to all of you.
uuuuhhhh.............. sobs
-
Yeah. There has been warning of leaks by the writers on Twitter recently. Kinda hoping the thread follows along day by day here.
-
! nice to see what a normal pearl looks like next to Diamond there
-
Pearl the Terrifying, slayer of Gems and destroyers of worlds. The Harbinger of screams and tears. With every step she takes, a shadow is cast in the hearts of her victims, shadow which never ceases to be.
! nice to see what a normal pearl looks like next to Diamond there
Well, considering they're nothing but ornaments, I think that might just be how Blue Diamond "dresses" her Pearl.
Yellow Diamond will probably have one with other outfit and haircut, besides the yellow theme. -
Yellow Diamond
Blue Diamond
White Diamond
Rose Diamond
Hope Diamond
Blood Diamond
Crazy Diamond
Diamond Dog
Not Crash Diamond
Diamond Dallas Page -
So, going by that hairstyle, I was probably right about Pearls' role in gem society.
they sound more like a designer pet such as a Labradoodle than anything else.
-
Black Diamond
Neil Diamond
Mike Diamond
Dustin Diamond
Lou Diamond Phillips
Lucy in the Sky with DiamondAlso, great episode.
-
that episode was soooooooo gooooooooooood.
! Man so Garnet is the original gem fusion (at least for two different gems) didn't expect that. Also I would have liked a clearer look at Blue Diamond.
-

! It was also nice to finally get a proper glimpse of homeworld and how gems work. Makes me wonder if Garnet was a brand new gem, or a Garnet that acted differently from standard single-gem Garnets.! They said no one in the crowd had seen a fusion of two different types of gems and I think you can only get to Garnet if you fuse a Ruby+Sapphire so as far as the crowd was concerned that was a brand new Gem.
! But it could also mean that it's just such an extremely rare event even if they know it's possible.
! Homeworld seems like it has a very rigid social-political-military system that's very organized. I can see why they could see two different gems from different courts fusing to be such an abomination. It violates the order that seems to be the core of their society.
! I liked the episode overall. Pearl really took the loss of Rose hard if it turned her from that into the gem she was earlier in the season. It look like she took down two Quartz class gems like Jasper with no trouble at all. -
So, going by that hairstyle, I was probably right about Pearls' role in gem society.
White Diamond transports her Pearl in her purse because her precious Pearly-wearly shouldn't have to tire her tiny feet out walking like some common Ruby tramp.
-

I just assumed the diamonds and respective pets move around in those mechanical rooms with spider legs.
Which look cool like hell, but makes me wonder if it was really necessary and if something with wheels wouldn't be more confortable. -
Pork Diamond being transported around earth:
!
-
Something I found via the internet about this episode.
! From the sounds of things, Garnet is the first time society has ever really thought of or seen the fusing two gems that weren't the same type of gem.
! It gives a new perspective on the notion of the Clusters and experimentation if that is the case, as well as Garnet's reaction to them. -
Man, The Answer was sweet, that ending left me with wet eyes.
"Why am I so sure that I'd rather to be this than everything I was supposed to be?" :~ -

! It gives a new perspective on the notion of the Clusters and experimentation if that is the case, as well as Garnet's reaction to them.! This actually puts into perspective some of Garnet's lines from Keeping It Together, where she was blaming herself and the rebellion for the forced fusions.
! I dunno how intentional the writing is, but it comes off like somewhere buried within her she still sees what she is as wrong or at least is still hurt by how Homeworld sees her fusion, which is pretty deep cutting. -
! omg this episode
omg the cute <3
omg :-3
! Good observations above, btw -
! I liked how we were shown that Gems of the same type don't have their core on the same part of their bodies. Plus, the rest of the episode, of course. Freshly-fused Garnet gave me a serious hankering for some cotton candy.
-
I found it interesting how Sapphire thought she needed to be brought back to Homeworld to regenerate
-
I like that…
! Blue Diamond's base is sorta based off science fiction colonies that float over planets with a livable atmosphere over the clouds while avoiding harsh conditions on the surface. Not that it's a fine detial here consdiering Earth's surface looks completely fine, but it might give an idea of how gems take residence to harvest over other planets. Really cool!
God. What an episode! Adding more and more layers to my already favorite character that isn't just Steven himself.
