I don't think there was a comma before "baby' :p
! I really like that extremely brief scene of what looked like Pearl and Amethyst having a for real conversation when Seven et al came back. They usually don't have those kind of moments.
yeah i loved that little detail
! i wonder if they're gonna get chummy and then pearl maybe pisses off amethyst too? the promo image for this stevenbomb makes me wonder…

!
Soon…!
-
I'm finally caught up in this show up to the recent bomb, waiting till Saturday and then I'm gonna marathon all 5 episodes from this week!!
Excited!
-
! I thought Pearl was supposed to be the responsible one.
! to be honest, I'd kinda like to see another episode with her season 1 personality some more. Now it's all "PEARL IS THIRSTY" 24/7!
-
Just finished Season 1 (Wow! That went by fast!). Thoughts:
-Yeah, this show is amazing. It takes a while to get going, but once it does it not only do the plotlines and characters become totally engrossing, but it has some of the greatest emotional depth I've seen in a children's cartoon.
-The characters went through a lot this season and I've grown to like, if not love, pretty much all of them (except for Onion. I hate that kid). But I have to say that Pearl is still my favorite, and Rose's Scabbard totally reinforced that for me. Garnet's pretty great and I think I can see why people like her so much. She does have that dry humor thing going for her that's gotten more than a few laughs from me, but at the same time she's kind of distant and I guess that prevents me from getting too invested in her (and I guess it was inevitable, but I did learn about the Jail Break reveal ahead of time).
-The end of Lion 3, just….man, that really hit me hard. Made me want to call my mom too.
-Towards the end of Marble Madness where Steven starts talking to Peridot and just blabs everything....yeah, that totally reminded me of Luffy.
Well, still have a few more episodes to catch up on, so I better get crackin'

Spoilers for Onion Friend
! Much better episode than I expected. I love it when characters have visible development, but it's not the central plot. The ep had a wonderful balance of lightheartedness, character reveals and some emotional moments. Possibly one of my personal favorites so far. It helps that Vidalia reminds me a lot about my aunt. She's not nearly as friendly, but it felt like I had known this character for a long time because of it.
! I'm also loving how the series is starting to get a little lighter again. It's fun with all the drama, but it started to become overbearing the last few episodes. I hate it when series get like that, when they forget that it's the fun stuff that make the drama effective. Peridot's random antics saved a lot of episodes.
! Lastly I'm relieved Amethyst is finally getting character development. She's been getting the short stick so many times compared to Garnet and Pearl.
! Now off to bed. -
My reaction throughout the episode.
"What the hell, Onion?"
-
I am mildly horrified o_o
-
Clarence actually had a gay couple kiss months ago though.
One of the characters even has two mothers.
-
Onion is best gem.
Seriously though, I liked this episode a lot better than the previous two of this Steven Bomb.
! It's nice to have a lighter episode amidst the heavy drama. The heavy episodes are great and I've been interested in the clash among the Crystal Gems, but a breather with some plot and character stuff in the background was nice. I especially liked seeing Onion's home life and how fairly normal it was. Though, the fact that he was hiding in Steven's kitchen cabinet without anyone noticing him getting into it, let alone into the house, is concerning.

I'm Opal.
Ooh, turns out I'm Pearl!

You got: Garnet
You, like Garnet, are structured, calm, and are able to keep the peace — but that doesn’t mean you always want to. You can be very destructive when you choose, and people look to you for guidance.Good .
-
You got: Opal
You are like Opal, a very caring gem. You are smart and caring like Pearl, and tough but also kind like Amethyst. As a combination, you are also all business- sometimes you should relax and let your friends be in chargeHmm, okay then.

Okay

According to the BuzzerFeeder I am the show itself

Apparently I am a giant woman

i think SU is way more sexually aware than having a couple of token gay moments
Like SU seems gay/bi/etc like… 60% of the time lol
-
Okay
backs away from Hiroy cautiously

Didn't the kiss in Clarence get censored?
-
That was some excellent editing. I was on a verge of tears by the end of the video. (for new watchers, spoilers up to We need to talk, I think)

That was just lovely. <3

Didn't the kiss in Clarence get censored?
It was(kiss on the cheek rather than the mouth), but the context of the entire scene was still plainly there. It's surely not Disney's level of censorship where they outright changed the genders.
Aside from that… while it's not my favorite show.. The characters themselves tend to act in ways that aren't nailed down in gender roles, and I find it quite nice tbh.So cool in Cartoon Network shows for slowly being a little more open or daring.
-
That trailer was so great and I'd love to share it with people who haven't watched the show but there are so many spoilers that I'm hesitant to let them see it. But that might just be because I'm already caught up and I know what were cool reveals int he show so someone who has no clue what is going on might be less conscious of them than I am. It's a great watch for people who are caught up though, though a part of me wishes they could use the shows music.

! Another fun breather ep. I do like how they addressed what Ronaldo brought up in Rising Tides/Crashing Skies about the gems bringing bad things to Beach City. Dewey's ancestor was made clearly aware of this when the place was founded and the disconnect gems have from society caused that little detail to go hidden over the years. This also kind of explains how people don't freak out so much about the gem monsters, since the monsters way predate the people there.
! Lots of good jokes, though, and the thing about flaws is something that Pearl needed to hear. I liked how this ep subtly commented on the Sardonyx incident in that way and I hope it comes into play in the resolution (however much it resolves). -
That's the side of Pearl I was missing!
this was totally me after the episode ended.
-
Vedalia is a fun character. Nice to see a little into Onion's personal life. He is still obviously the antichrist
-
I didn't like Jamie at first, but this episode sold me on him.
-
You think that this episode was telling the story of this?
!
Edit: Err nvm, reddit said it was a parody of this: [https://www.nga.gov/feature/watson/watsonbig.jpg
E](https://www.nga.gov/feature/watson/watsonbig.jpg)dit2: Yeah, I love Jamie now too :)

Jamie acting as the gems was great. Especially the garnet one haha

Think they can pass that off as one of Vidalia's paintings now?
I guess the painting of Rose above the doorway also too.
-
They're on to me…
-
! So I guess the bomb is over.
! Can't say I was super fond of it. It's a great idea and I like the numerous ways they showcased emotions and dealing with them, but the 11 minute format was terrible for it and some of the drama felt a little forced. But a lot of good things came out of it too. Like Amethyst having some major character development, all the side characters like Greg and Vidalia having good moments, and everything involving Peridot.
! I dunno, but something about how Garnet and Pearl made up just doesn't feel right. I understood the first half, but for some reason the second just makes me confused, like it missed the mark? Maybe it'll work better once I rewatch the series, and don't watch it at 2 in the night. -
Peridot is the best character and I want her in the family.
-
-
-
On a rewatch, I noticed Peridot said, "This planet has an expiration date and I'm not waiting to find out when."
Huh.
-
On a rewatch, I noticed Peridot said, "This planet has an expiration date and I'm not waiting to find out when."
Huh.
It's possible she is referring to the coming of Yellow Diamond and most likely a small army of gems coming to Earth, thereby Earth's expiration date. She seems pretty confident (when she isn't running around like a nerd) that she has the upper hand because she's probably certain her distress signal at least made it through before Sardonix and Sugolite flattened the communication hub.
-
Peridot is the best, she's such a goof.
I'm really interested in seeing what Pearls are like back on the homeworld, from the sounds of it they might just be a low ranking soldier class gem.
-
I wish they had showed Garnet's eye's during her talk with Pearl. Staring at cool shades during an emotional discussion made the scene feel off for me.

It was to show Pearl's face in the reflection.
-
Alright! Finally caught up with the show!
! -Yep. Total One Piece vibe when Steven was sobbing and telling Connie he still wanted to be friends.
-Steven's been ungrounded from TV! Man, such devotion to a plot point that could have been so easily ignored.
-You know what, I actually liked the Uncle Grandpa crossover. But, yeah, mostly the stuff that didn't involve Uncle Grandpa.
-Greg and Rose are the most adorable couple, I swear.
-Jamie rocks
-The new opening is pretty sweet
-In regard to Steven's dream: I knew it! Pearl is the mom, Amethyst is the older sister, and Garnet is…..The Fonz?
-Maybe it's just me, but...Sardonyx kinda looks like a racist caricature.
-Ruby and Sapphire are adorable
-Believe it or not, the latest Onion episode actually redeemed him a bit in my eyes. This time he was more weird than evil, and he was shown to have some kindness in him. That being said, I still won't be surprised if he turns out to be the real big bad of the series
! Now, about this whole Pearl fiasco, I enjoy complex characterization and development as much as the next guy, but...I dunno. Something bugs me about this development, and I think it may be because it was kind of arbitrary? Like, I know Pearl has some deep self-worth issues stemming from her being designed to be a low-ranking disposable soldier (presumably) and her entire history with Rose. But this was, of course, an objectively wrong thing for Pearl to do and I'm just not sure why it happened at this time. Is it because of the stress of dealing with the Homeworld Gems or was it just a matter of time before she snapped? In any event, the way it was portrayed just came across as making her look really unstable to me. I don't know, maybe it'll make more sense on a rewatch or once we find out more of the Crystal Gems' past.
! Well, she's still my favorite so I'm hoping she'll eventually be able to recover and come to grips with her self-worth. -
It was to show Pearl's face in the reflection.
I don't recall that. Also there's plenty of close up shots of pearls face anyway.
-
I think for all the Steven bombs in the future, I'mma just let some episodes build up and watch them in a marathon. IE, instead of watching each one each night, I'll let them all build up and marathon the 5 on Saturday like I did today.
LOVED the new episodes, all of them! Pearl's really an emotional wreck and it's nice to see what she's going through. I felt the Dewey play was a good metaphor for what she's going through too, so I liked it.
The Onion episode had me laughing HARD, to the point that my roommate and I had to pause it and wait to watch the next episode at the final joke. We were literally laughing so hard it hurt.

So, bringing this back to the thread (yeah, I read through the whole thread), because this is perfect.
