I'm talking about the ones that you can catch fishing.
You just do that trick where you cast, run, cast run, ect until you a shiny shows up or something like that. haven't done it in a long time, but got like 5 shiny's in like a couple hours.
I had pretty much have tried all the known ways to get shiny pokemon in Y and to my recollection never came across a single one.
I've often wondered about that myself; seems like being supported by people who only want you there so the world can end in fire (with you going to Hell in the process) would be somewhat off-putting

That's some really bad luck. I come across shinies once in a while when I'm slaughtering hordes for EV training. And I slaughter a lot. Guess it just takes time.

Wow congrats. Only shiny i've ever bred has been a eevee.
X/Y makes getting water pokemon shiny's easy, so no point brining those up, but did catch a shiny Golett in X. That's the only pokemon besides waters i found in X.

they are the only ones i bred. I ve been trying to get a shiny froakie for a long time and suddenly i got 2 shinies in 1 weekend.
i had an amazing breeding weekend. Bred a 5 iv shiny protean froakie and a 5iv shiny iron fist chimchar.

(That is, I fought her Garchomp with a Gyarados who knew Ice Fang, and her Milotic with a Gallade that knew Leaf Blade... For as good as those two Pokemon's type-coverage may be, they had nothing that was super-effective against Gyarados or Gallade.) So yeah, I haven't really made any further attempts to try and get that competively viable shiny Greninja I have wanted for so long lately, but still. Jealous is me. (That is, unless it's like, got a really shitty nature and its one imperfect stat is Speed... which is at 0 IVs or something.)

and it knows poison spikes ^^". I think shiny charm did the work for me. Had like 300-400 eggs with failure before that.

It can't really take a super-effective physical attack regardless.)
Personally, since getting the Shiny Charm, I've been deliberately storing all the Froakies I hatch just to see how many eggs I have to go through before getting teh shinyness… So far I've got 8 boxes full. So 240 eggs so far, no luck.

True about the defense stat, but since it's super fast, with Protean, you usually switch types before the enemy attacks, and can trick them often enough to not do super effective damage and survive.
I've got Grass Knot on my Greninja and it's saved me more times than I'd like to admit in online battles, resisting both electric and grass ^^
You were gone for quite a while, Chrissie. In that time, I took up hunting for maybe a month and my collection blew up into the hundreds (with tons of repeats)!

Well crap I knew there was a good reason why I remember that one, It has 31 IV on everything except defense and it has Dragon dance and dragon pulse as well with hydro pump and it has it's hidden ability but his the only one that I have because I got it on the GTS, so not that trill to trade it lol.

Getting a lot of Wurmples and Zigzagoon's from ORAS on the wonder trade lately, it's quite annoying. Although not much worse than Pidgeys, Caterpies, and the stupid starter apes.

Cool shinies you got. Can't really keep up with that, sorry don't have much in return. That Latias is awesome though. I was looking for one with Calm or Timid or Modest nature, GTS really sucks for that ^^

Finally I got one! Hasty Nature, perfect IVs in everything but Attack… Ideally I would have had it be Timid, but hey, that still seems rather perfectly competively viable to me. (EDIT: Oh, and looking it up on an IV calculator, it seems its Attack is either 24 or 25. So still pretty damn solid there too.)
For the record, the shiny one was egg number 305.
And just one day before the European release of ORAS too! You know, maybe I should just transfer this one over to Alpha Sapphire and have it as my designated Water-Pokemon... Or maybe going through the storyline with a Protean Greninja would make me a tad overpowered. I mean, I've already basically decided to play through the game without the Exp. Share to prevent it from being too easy (I'm assuming the Exp. Share is as overpowered there as it is in XY) so maybe giving myself a supremely awesome type-shifting ninja-frog with near perfect stats would kinda undermine that attempt at getting a decent challenge...

Reached 114 shinies tonight! Caught 4 of them (shiny Floette and swirlix have finally fallen into my paws) and traded for another shiny Treecko on the GTS which I am gonna be evolving later for the Pokedex entries since I already have one. I don't know when to stop!!! 
My wife's X cart has disappeared, with most of the Pokemon we've collected. Needless to say I'm pretty heartbroken.

Sure thing. Just bred some (just found out I still didn't got a Noibat), so they are level 1.
Beware of doing that. I really wanted a Noivern for my run when I first played Y, aqs I loved the design and it was one of the first promoted monsters… so I traded around tlll I got a Noibat really early on. It stayed in my party the whole game.... unfortunately, as a dragon type, it takes forever to be any good. The stats are all pretty terrible until after it evolves, and that's not till level 48 I think... you'lll be near the end at that point. (SHortly after you can catch them in the wild.)
I love the design on Noivern and liked having it, and Noibat is cute enough, but man, did having that first form through most of the game suck.
Seriously. Its stats are 40 30 35 45 40 55. That's worse than Bidoof in every stat but speed! That's worse than Magikarp in three stats!
Noibat was not intended to be a full game monster (even though it has good moves along the way) Most dragons aren't. It was meant for you to get it at level 45, and deal with its small form for a very short period, and then get the evolution. So... be wary that its not going to kill anything and will faint...a lot.
