My computer has been acting crazy lately. Restarting during the middle of a startup, shutting down at random, restarting right when my desktop loads up, etc. It also quit recognizing my CD Drive and Keyboard at one point but my sister resolved those problems. The biggest problem was a message that frequently popped up saying that windows/system32/config was either missing or corrupt. The only solution was to run the recovery disc. After running the recovery disc, my computer has downgraded from Windows XP Service Pack 3 to Windows XP Home Edition. I can't use Firefox because it can only run on XP Service Pack 2 or higher and I can't get any updates because Internet Explorer has been downgraded to either 6 or 7. I tried running the recovery disc again and nothing happened. Is there any way to fix this without buying a new computer or will I have to buy a new computer?

EDIT: Found a guy who fixed it for me cheap. It works fine now but i'll still get a new computer. So if a mod or admin wants to lock this then go ahead.
