It seems like MTV is always looking for new ways to ruin television. For once though, I think they might be doing something right: they're giving Bo Burnhum his own show.

This isn't exactly news, as the show starts Thursday.

I figured I'd get this thread started as, despite my insane, unhealthy love for Bo Burnham, I was not going to let myself get excited, because, you know, MTV. Recently, two articles came out which gave me faith.

Plus, you know, Bo Burnham is an amazing comedian.

Pilot just finished airing and I have to say it was pretty damn funny. It had some third act issues, but it had me laughing all the way through. Hopefully the quality keeps up.

This show has my official recommendation. Whatever that might be worth.

Realize this is Bo Burnham's big break and the show is satirical, but thought that was a pretty bad pilot. Personally think Bo is too self-indulgent and that the satire just comes back around as playing the character straight. I'm not a fan of MTV's programming at all, and I only chuckled a few times in the episode. And this is coming from a Bo Burnham fan too, though I like his wordplay and music more than his campy persona.

That said, I'll probably end up following it for a season to see how it plays out. I recognize the show does have heart and am curious what directions the show will go given the premise. For now, I'll say thanks Nex for pointing this out.

The series itself though just reminds me of Bo's song Art is Dead. Feel like that's a better commentary on the entertainment industry, plus it comes with a catchy tune and lacks Bo pretending to be an MTV character.
