Now I want to know when exactly Danafor was destroyed because it seems that Meliodas was a Lioness knight already 200 years ago or so… I admit it, I'm a bit confused with the timeline.

So who was the guy in the cart with King? Meliodas?
-
So who was the guy in the cart with King? Meliodas?
Yeah, that was Meliodas.
@Ura
It's possible he traveled alot during his long ass lifetime. -

In this chapter, we can see that Meliodas captured King 200 years ago; but we know he was knight of Danafor before being knight of Lioness. Since all knights wear armors, it's possible that when he captured King he belonged to Danafor's army. Anyway, since it was the King of Lyonesse who removed King's penalty, you're right in that we need to know about the past relationships between Danafor and Lyonesse.

It was destroyed 16 years ago.
-
Elizabeth was born in Danafor and she's 16 so it's likely that Meliodas was still with Danafor, or maybe 200 years ago he didn't even work for Danafor and this was a completely different kingdom.
-
The chapter's out. And quite the strong one if I may add.

Helbram is already out of the game faster than I thought.
-
Hmm, I guess this fight needen't go on longer than this, but it was a bit underwhelming. After all the outrageous power showings of these last chapters, the fight ends with some slightly uninspired air spear swinging, and off you go. The scale went down, that's for certain.
The final pages were touching though. I still feel that, had the author placed more focus in the link between Harlequin and Helbram last chapter, this would've had a much bigger impact. But since it was more of an afterthought in the gaiden, well. . .didn't happen.
One question though: does Diane remember now all that happened between her and King? I think it was implied two chapters ago, right?

Yup, she reminded his smell.
-
I wanted more oldman Helbram.
He was fun to watch.

It seems she begins to remember that, which is quite interesting. I mean, you can wonder why King's spell is dissipating, but what you want is that she remembers their past
.
I remember from the Gaiden chapter about Ban, and from the nickname of King, 'the sin of Sloth', that once he left Ealine behind in the forest, he was just yawning on his pillow and just kicking his back and dreaming most of the time. But that impression changed completely with this chapter, because King's past is very sad. He was unconscious for 500 years, due to the attack of the patch-eye guy, and later he was jailed for 200 years and could not do nothing for/with the people he cares about.
-
I much preferred old man Helbram. His character as a young fairy was far less appealing than the sardonic jokester who casually did awful shit.
-
New chapter out: http://manga.redhawkscans.com/reader/read/the_seven_deadly_sins/en/0/74/ (I hadn't noticed it)
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
! Uhh… I wasn't ready to Helbram's death.
-
I miss old Helbram too, but not pixie Helbram. His death was sad, but other than that the chapter didn't really appeal to me.
I know power levels are never fun to talk about, but they really seem a bit over the place, what with King tossing aside a super duper powered up Helbram fairy like nothing. -
Maybe it's because he can use the tree's full power now? Just my 2cs
-
My opinion is that he couldn't attack Hellbram while he was making the pollen shield. Once Diane and the other were safe, he could focus on Hellbram without worry.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And once again the drawing are really good. Some may complain that there is no background but i really like these one page panels. And that last page with Diane having opened her eyes...
-
Yeah, losing gramps Helbram is a pity, the magic brat angry at the world… not so much.
Its strange that their final showdown was with telequinesis when Helbram strongest attack were those tree roots.
-

I prefer a thousand that sword saw attack, reminds me a lot Metal Man's weapon, I bet those can cut throught anything.
Yeah, we all gonna miss Helbram, He was the closest guy to a Kefka this manga could have had. -
I like to think of this chapter's part of the fight as less of a contest and more of the sad execution of his old friend by King. So in that respect, I ended up liking Helbram's flailing around in a telekinetic sword battle more here. I'm also picturing some somber theme playing through the entirety of this chapter.
-
Hey King, why do you and Elaine don't have wings like the other fairies?
-
Goddammit. Bye bye, Evil Garp.
And angry fairy guy too, I guess.Hendircksen needs to up the evil charisma now, a hole has been left with the loss of Helbram.

Page 5.
Look at Gowther honking Jericho while unconscious LMAO

I wonder when did that happen.
-
No, he's talking about the middle panel (left to Diane's leg).
About the chapter, it was great. I'm still waiting to see if Diane remembered everything or not.
-
So Not-Bradley turned into generic faced angst fairy and was killed off rather easily?
that's underwhelming, but whatever.
-
Its kinda funny seeing people ranting Helbram's fairy form even thought pretty much everybody predicted he was a fairy(Maybe they never thought all fairies were child-looking).Also King fight against Helbram wasn't that easy, even with the pollen handicap.
-
My 2 cents:
Fulfilled promise? Well the promise was that King would stop Helbram if he would have gotten in troubles with the humans. Helbram said it twice in the gaiden chapter, being the last one just before King pierced him with the rose.
Promise to HelbramSo now the title of the chapter says Helbram passed away… Ey but that’s just what King believed 200 years ago. Let me ask: even if it’s the title, wouldn't it be possible that Helbram stands up again, so that we can see King saying: “Why you are still alive” for the third time (remember the first one was in Bitzel)?
Bipolarism or… the ring of Sauron in disguise?
Now, or Helbram was bipolar or was being controlled by another being. We clearly could see two sides: the loyal and friendly fairy, who recognized his old friend in the last moment, like the King Theoden in the Lord of the Rings when Gandalf breaks the spell Saruman put on him. And also the mad, bloodthirsty, yelling, pooping eyed guy.
The two sides of HelbramIt seems the breaking up between them was effected when King broke the eyed ball used by Helbram to activate his power link. With that hit King also broke some kind of spell. Sure that’s a conjecture, but it’s the only one comes to my mind to explain two points: first, that part of Helbram that was trying to stop:
quotation marks? Yes!And second, that even when Helbram knows he has been beaten, just before the recognition of his friend, he talks as if he was possessed by a superior being who knows is pulling the strings to break the coffin of eternal darkness to release the demon clan.
such tender eyes…Anyway, if this possession spell was ruling the little fairy, and it got broken when the eyed ball was broken, then the ball was the key to control the fairy, (which reminds me also from Golum and the ring of Sauron). It’s also possible given that we could see the blind follow power working this chapter. All of these are just conjectures. Notice that these conjectures would explain the miraculous survival power of Helbram: every time he got killed (first by the patcheye guy and then by King) he was able to "revive" somehow thanks to a mysterious power controlling him. … Anyway, if these conjectures are right the big question would be who was behind Helbram pulling the strings?
Ok, Hendricksen if now the bad guy of the movie; but … would you buy he has all the evilness that the movie requires? Well all the time my impression has been that he doesn’t even know for sure what immense power he is unfolding in releasing the demon clan, who should be the real deal here. After all the first glory war was fought between the demon and the goddess clans. So it’s easy to believe also the bad has some underlings working to break the seal that has captive the most evil and powerful creatures. This is what I like to see in the page quoted above, in Helbram’s eyes which don’t even blink when the blood bursts through mouth and chest.
Character development?
Helbram the geezer has been just great: an authentic despicable villain; heartless, cruel and at the same time frivolous and insensitive… And in the last chapters we went from the lovely evil geezer to the resentful fairy to the bipolar fairy… I feel the author is taking some risks here, due mainly to how enjoyable was the geezer. I mean, who want the maniac fairy when we had the lovely despicable geezer? To me, intended and intelligent evilness is better than plain and simple craziness.
Anyway we still don’t know what Suzuki is going to do with Helbram. Because at least he owns us the explanation of his survival power. Btw, who does think that Helbram sent the demon not to take the fountain of youth, but to destroy the tree? Now that we know the immense protecting power of the tree, in the background of the incoming holy war, that would be a much more believable purpose. After all Ban didn't let the demon say what was he looking for.

Not sure if it was here or MH where i read it, but it seems that Gustav is really Jericho brother

! Soldiers: What's wrong master Gustav?
Gustav: Where the hell is Jericho?
Soldiers: …It seems like she headed out somewhere...
Gustav: Although she was called upon by lord Helbram... that good-for-nothing...
Gustav: [New generation] or not it's as if she doesn't understand the duties of a holy knight at all.
Gustav: When does she intend to stop bringing shame upon me…
Soldier: Master Gustav please... let's calm down a bit.
Jericho: sneeze From what is that page? Is that a volume bonus? -
A few days later, thinking about the chapter again, I've realized that villain geezer is gone for good. Well fuck…
-
Gustav died didn't he?
-
He's shown alive in the most recent chapter. Whether or not he died after the Link was severed (I'm assuming no) is up in the air.

True. He should be alive then.

translation of French spoilers from ritualscan. Thanks to Baam from orojackson who found them
! Diane thanks King and says Harlequin is a nostalgic name but can't remember who he really is. King explains Hauser thhey are here to save the princess and prevent the resurection of demons but he is attacked by Dreyfus that he restrains to make him talk.
On the other side of the city the confrontation between Hendricksen and Arthur is hot. A dangerous attack from Hendricksen is stopped by Melodias who interferes and demands to take Elizabeth back

Geez after reading that spoiler the golden week will be longer

Since the spoiler are early I think the chapter will be too. The translator posted a spoiler when he usually does it on friday

For the direct site. It's faster than batoto.

For a moment I though Arthur could do the Full Counter. Well next chapter will be more focused on the princesses, so not expecting much action.
-
Well we had plenty already. A little pause doesn't sound bad. And the plural in the title looks interesting
-
My 2 cents:
how do you know about the dirty stuff, Arthur? In this chapter we see Hendricksen wondering what Arthur knows about his plan: is it the imprisoning of the kind, the kidnapping of the princess or the demon clan resurrection? And he gets the answer when, at the sight of the black flames, Arthur says why doesn’t he tries to prying it open, which is a clear allusion to a method to break the coffin of eternal darkness. That makes Arthur very suspicious, and I’m very pleased with his character, because he’s a sign the plot is much more complicated and unpredictable than what we could say up to now.
Now, the title of the chapter is ‘What makes a king’, and we see even Hendricksen asking Arthur to show the power that made him king. But don’t get yourself confused for that, because the title is not about Arthur but about King.
The saddest panel in 75 chapters… sniff
Let see, King sees Diane… alive, listen to her saying “thanks”, grabs his pillow, listen to her saying his real name… and says it was probably a dream… King must be the most miserably character of the story for sure, he, as a king has to do, sacrifices his personal business and interests for the safety of the kingdom. Not for nothing he made Diane to forget of him: he wanted to prevent the war between fairies and humans…
But sure we know he paid almost 200 years in jail for the sins of his friend…and he was recruited by the King of Lyonesse to be part of the seven sins. Then, the war has already been prevented. So, I wonder why he doesn't break the spell yet, why he doesn't tell Diane who is Harlequin. I’d bet he can’t… which would be even more sad, and would make of King an even greater king.
Knights running out of gas…Up to now the story has have two big parts: the reunion of the sins and the kidnapping and rescue of Eli. Both are part of the major plot which is about the prophesied holy war between the light and the darkness. Dreyfus performance in this chapter pretty much confirms the holy knights are not the enemy, not the main rival of the sins, but the demon clan. All the elements are falling in its place. Dreyfus was neutralized and beaten by two sins. Helbram got killed too. The Dawn Roar lost its leader Threader who now is against the knights. The most of the knights were beaten, and it only rests Hendricksen and the mysterious lady kidnapper.
On the oher side, the sins have gained much power in comparison to what they are 20 chapters back, and they have leave the holy knights behind. So tis clear, too much power for facing not so powerful rivals is just an introduction to the war.
That’s why the actions of the lady kidnapper are the most interesting currently. I was thinking Eli was going to be used somehow to break the seal, but didn’t think she was going to be sacrificed. Eli is special, for sure. The king adopted and raised her. We have some hints about her having special powers. And she has to be killed to be able to break the seal with which the Goddess sealed the Demon clan in the previous war… Does anybody else think she is a Goddess?... because to neutralize some Goddess’s doing, it could be required to kill a Goddess. So the whole panorama is bad omen to Eli, and I think we will see her dying.
That's all for a very good chapter this week.
