@ARC-1300:
Yes how dare my villains not play by the rules, who do they think they are?
When a guy is taking 20 to 30 energy steroids, that are suppose to double his power each time and is only barely keeping up with Luffy and forced to use cheep trickery to even stand a chance at winning….............yea he just seems pathetic in my book. I mean if a villain can't be a physical threat to Luffy at least have him be a mental threat; you know a Lex Luthur type character, but sadly Hody wasn't just weak, but stupid as well. I mean his entire revolution was doomed from the get go, thanks to those dam steroids. In hindsight the Straw Hat's didn't have to even put up a fight and Hody's entire plan would have fallen apart in a day, once the steroids side effects kicked in. He was fully aware of these side effects too.
Worse yet he made himself an enemy of Big Mom by eating her candy. So even if my some miracle he wasn't destroyed by The Straw Hat's and his own steroid abuse, she most certainly would have finished him off.
@MasterKingJC:
Sans their blinding fishman supremacist act, Hody and Arlong are two different characters. Arlong has respect and compassion for his fellow species, while Hody wouldn't bat an eye to killing his own crew or any other fishman.
Hody isn't evil for evil's sake. You missed the point of that big revelation about his true character.
He's a pompous bigot with a warped perception of humans caused by his own environment. Stories of how "evil and horrible" the human race are compared to the "mighty and superior" Fishman were seeds planted by Arlong and the other Fishman Pirates to influence the future generation.
This is the SAME tactic real-life supremacist and hate-groups use on their children to make them discriminate against a certain group.
What you call racism I call lazy writing. I mean we don't even learn this so called motivation until slightly before he's defeated. It was like Oda went, "Ohh, crap I made Hody into a 1 dimensional villain and I need to come up with something fast", so he simply created a rushed flashback that had Hody join the Fish Man KKK at the age of 5. It was easily some of the laziest writing I've seen from Oda and I usually love this guys work.
