Actually, if they did that, I'd be really happy. Or better yet, if they really went for it and gave us one a month (September and October)… but that's a huge pipe dream.
-
I hope Funimation keeps the menu layout and animations when they eventually release the movie collections to the States.
-
Wow, Funimation's PR is a mess. According to their Facebook page:
The official stance is that One Piece Season 6 will be out this fall. One Piece Film: Z is confirmed for 9/30 as the release date and has a pre-order listing on our shop
and:
September still qualifies as fall. As far as I know, pre-order links are not up yet. So, I am trying to find out more information for you.
Here is a link to check out the conversation: https://www.facebook.com/FUNimation/posts/564068540369721?comment_id=564141467029095&offset=0&total_comments=16

If you mean me then no I am not, I often browse through the comments on the page but I never actually post there
-
That would explain why the Season 6 trailer hasn't been uploaded yet.

They've been consistently unreliable in giving us a release date. Though this is hardly the first time funimation has proven that they aren't the most professional, put-together company (the cosistent typos on covers being a small example of this).
Anywho, I was very excited to see a release date so soon at anime expo, though I thought it suspect that they're releasing three one piece things within a week. I'll be very disappointed if these don't make it out in at least early October. I mean, what's the hold up with all these? Seriously?

According them Film Z magically delayed everything. Personally I don't quite believe that, but that's their "official" stance anyway. I suppose we'll learn the truth of things next week though, when the October slate "should" come out.
-
I do think it's pretty weird that they didn't just give us a general release window (like "Coming October 2014" or something) rather than saying that Voyage 1 would come out with Film Z only to backtrack on that a few days later. That was what I was expecting in the first place, so I really wouldn't have minded. Though I think it's more strange that Collection 10 is not up for preordering, even though it was supposed to come out a week before Film Z and Voyage 1 (though correct me if I'm wrong).
Oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. At least we can still expect both to come out relatively soon after Film Z since most of the promotional material is set in stone.
-
Wow, Funimation's PR is a mess
No kidding. I'm not even all that upset by this (mainly because I was expecting s6v1 to come out on a different date anyway) but I am concerned why this seems to keep happening. It was pretty bad when Funimation first changed the release date and gave no official word on it, but now this. Season 6 was not put on Rightstuf at the same time as Film Z, so it seemed obvious they wouldn't have the same release date. So why say that it had the same release date at Anime Expo? And the fact that Funimation's response on facebook was one of confusion…this just all seems like a mess. Why does this keep happening? Why does Funimation keep letting it happen? First it was stuff like typos and now this. It’s a shame to see this keep happening, especially when we're given a dub of considerably good quality.
But, whatever. I'm pretty sure Season 6 is not to far away from getting an official release date, seeing how they are putting up the subs and already have a trailer made. Plus we do still have Film Z to look forward to in September, so at least theres that. I don't feel the need to let these unfortunate events anger me (as I don’t find complaining on this forum to be all that constructive), but still........what a mess...
-
I'm sure all the fans pestering them for dates all the time doesn't help their case!
-
They just posted on their Facebook that it's coming for sure on 9/30. Here's the Amazon link now with hi-res cover art: [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LPJ3J6W/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00LPJ3J6W&linkCode=as2&tag=funfacebook-20&linkId=C6IULURGQQFRGCQL

So we won't have to wait until release at least!
-
FUNi made a official post on their blog about the news and said that it would be a Amazon.com exclusive till November.
-
One Piece Season 6, Part 1 is up for preorder on Amazon now.

Yep, and as I said, only there this time. Other retails get it November 18th.
-
Now that's an awesome cover! Hopefully one of the collection covers has Moriah on it too.
-
The cover for Season 6, Part 1 is really nice.
-
Here is the official trailer for it.
-
An Amazon-only exclusive? That seems…odd.
Not complaining, just stating the oddness of it.
-
I think this is pretty great, since I usually get the One Piece dvds sets on Amazon. Season 6, Part 1 trailer is really nice.
-
Well…I didn't expect this. Good to see that they stuck with the September release date, so I guess I retract what I said in my previous post. Can't say I expected an Amazon exclusive deal though.
-
While it's awesome OP S6V1 WILL be available, at the earliest, 9/30, I'm NOT too fond on it being Amazon exclusive. Nothing against Amazon, I just prefer buying DVDs in-store. The fact of the matter is that DVDs can get cracked and/or loosened in the case either during the packaging process or the shipping process, and getting a cracked disc drives me nuts and having to send the whole set back, wait for the return to complete, then wait for a new set is such a pain. I'd much rather have the convenience of being able to personally pick and inspect my set. I might make the exception for this set 'cause I've really been wanting to see TB in English.
-
I can't really see amazon paying for exclusivity in anime releases so this does strike as slightly odd
-
Glad to see it finally available to pre-order for September. If all of their OP releases become Amazon-exclusive, we can forget the days of getting sets 2-3 weeks early though
-
I think it's better to sell exclusively via Amazon as a lot of customers choose products to buy solely based on Amazon reviews/ratings. If the dvds sell exclusively on Amazon that means more higher ratings which leads to more sales.
Also if the new dvds sell well on Amazon they will appear a lot more frequently on suggested titles and rank higher in Amazon bestsellers. Sounds good to me. -
This has me wondering. If S6V1 is Amazon exclusive until November 18th, what does this mean for Voyage Two?
Does this mean it might come out in December? I sure hope that isn't the case. -
Perhaps it was just too late to get it out by then; in order to keep their September promise, they're going through amazon (which has very quick turnaround).

That's what I am thinking. It was too late to solicit a September release date to retailers like Best Buy and Walmart so they just did this Amazon deal to be nice to fans who have been waiting. Seems weird they wouldn't go to Rightstuf for this though.
-
hmmm won't be able to use FUNi sale/GA membership (and get it early) by preordering at RightStuf (unless I want to wait until November)
-
Shoot. I preordered it, but Amazon shipping means we won't get it early.
-
This whole ordeal has been odd.
First its said to come by summer, but it doesn't.
Then it's said its coming out by September, but with no solicts.
Then there's miscommunication the next week.
Then its finnally confirmed to come out on Sept. but is for some reason an Amazon exclusive now.
Rightstuff wont get it till Nov.
Like…. what the hell happened with this set??

Ghosts, man. Ghosts. It's the only One Piece set to feature them so far…hardly a coincidence.

I usually wait for the collections but I have to get the voyages for Thriller Bark when they come out after seeing this. Brook was perfect!

I'll admit it does sound sort of weird when you really put it that way. I suppose this is good news, though I'm somewhat worried now when we'll get Voyage 2 and will it be amazon only as well when it comes out?
-
Glad to hear that they're releasing Season 6, and according to the Funimation release page of Season 6:
http://www.funimation.com/blog/2014/07/11/release-date-for-one-piece-season-six-voyage-one/?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=OnePiece&utm_source=Facebook&utm_content=S6V1_Amazon&utm_nooverride=1 The people at Amazon are big One Piece fans and that Amazon has had a lot of success with exclusive deals, and it sounds like Funimation is really excited to be a part of this program, so this might work out for Funimation and for us fans (seeing as growth and exposure for One Piece is always good).I see they didn't go with the inverted color scheme that people really seemed to want, oh well. The border and cover art look great.

What program exactly? Are they going to do extra promotion for this?

@LUFFY#1:
What program exactly? Are they going to do extra promotion for this?
I'm not sure I was just quoting what I read on Funimation's page. I think what they're saying is that Amazon exclusives have sold well, despite only being available on Amazon. They're probably telling us this to reassure people who are worried about this voyage being available only through one retailer.
-
I would have figured exclusivity would have gone to either
- funi Store or
- RightStuf
Amazon has had incredible success with their exclusives
I can't really think of any anime exclusives amazon has … ever done (ok maybe the current YGO "mega set" but that's it, just 1; they make it sound like there have been a lot
-
Ok… this is... still odd.
So it's a program? Is it gonna be promoted or something?
It's not like Amazon never got the sets before.... so I dont see how this will do anything.
And if Amazon is gonna be the exclusive seller now... why is Film Z not included in this program when its quote on quote coming out the same month.... so confusing....
And then there's the whole "comes out November 18th everywhere else"... why such a delay?
I dunno what the hell is going on. XD

It's just voyage 1 in the program, I assume because it is a late solicitation FUNi is going this route and they are doing this just because they don't want to do another delay.
-
Then what about Voyage Two? If the street date for V1 is in November then when can V2 possibly come. 0.o
-
I guess the borders around the Voyage covers are going to change with every new season. I like the lil' ghosts and bats.
-

I suppose they could release Voyage 2 in November as well, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. My guess is it will be out December at the earliest.
-
Season 6, Part 1 is 1 on Amazon top 100 for anime.
-
Amazon is, as a retailer, far more known than rightstuf. If there is going to be an exclusivity contract, Amazon would be the place. Their volume probably exceeds rightstuf's by a rather significant margin, early release or no. And that there is an exclusivity contract here could actually be a pretty shrewd move. It might also be a possible explanation for the initial delay.
-
Season 6, Part 1 is 1 on Amazon top 100 for anime.
Whoa. I don't think I've ever seen a One Piece set come in at #1.
-
Season 6, Part 1 is 1 on Amazon top 100 for anime.
Well, I preordered the second FUNi tweeted about this, hopefully others did also.
-
It looks like Funimation really pushed through to get this on the September release date, I've never ordered from Amazon and I'm unsure what their shipping to Australia is like (or if they do at all) so I might hold out for Madman's collection 28 release. I hope we don't have to wait until after the November release date, we had to wait 4-6 months for the season 5 dvd's and still waiting for the Ace vs Blackbeard & Ice Hunter filler collection.
I'm hoping to hear Sean Schemmel in Thriller Bark even if it's just a very minor character, he's been back to Texas a fair bit for some of the recent DBZ releases.

One Piece: Collection 10 is now listed on Amazon.com.
