I feel like Kizaru will be the only difficult voice cast they'll have to do in SaBaody. The Supernovas will be pretty easy. Rayleigh might be tougher.
yeah kizaru will definitely be tough

That's probably why I'm looking forward to hearing Kizaru in English the most out of any character at the moment. He's such a bizarre, obnoxious bastard and I'm looking forward to seeing how they translate it.
Any thoughts for Law? He's probably my favorite Supernova these days so I want his voice to match the cool, suave attitude his Japanese voice has.
I suppose Duval could be tricky too.
Law shouldn't be too hard I think, I thought Micah would've been pretty decent for the role but he's got Coby now. All they need is a smooth, low voice that just always sounds good…all the time.
Duval shouldn't be very difficult either, although he does have a particular accent or way of speaking that I'm not too sure how it would translate into english. But other than that he's got a generic thug voice and then once Sanji kicks the ugly off his face, he has a more positive and refined voice but still uses slang, I think.
Sean already mentioned Matthew Mercer. He might be a good fit, although I haven't heard much of his voice acting work.

if your a gamer you might be familiar with him http://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Matthew-Mercer/
Matthew Mercer also voices Eight-Tails in Naruto Shippuden.
he does a lot of work in viz dubs and video games but here's a clip of him as Levi.http://bluealexander93.tumblr.com/video_file/79378977747/tumblr_n2bxh6hVQp1qgvkaw
Wow, this show sounds so weird dubbed. So use too it in Japanese at this point that it's weird hearing different voices come out of the characters mouths…
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-03-12/one-piece/unlimited-red-game-also-headed-to-n-america FYI, OP: Unlimited World R is getting a physical here in the states. I'd be more pumped if it had a dub, for now though i'll pick this up on the Vita somewhere down the line.

I believe in most cases, whatever version you watch first will affect the way you judge other voice tracks. I've never seen AOT (something about the show is off putting to me) so I can't make a comparison, but from what I heard from the dub so far sounds great to me:happy:.
It's the same for me with One Piece. I been watching OP since the Funi dub aired briefly back in 2007, so It's what i'm accustomed to. I've seen bits and pieces of OP subbed, but it doesn't really do anything for me personally. Then again I might be one of the few anime fans that don't hold seiyuu's performances on a pedestal whether I hear them first or not.
Off topic: Is anyone here interested in the Toradora Bluray (dub included)? I've already pre-oredered mine.

Whoa. I'm surprised by how many roles he's done that I'm familiar with.
From Leon all the way to Tygra.
That's quite the A-list voice actor FUNi's got under their wing.

Given the porting situation with this game (a 3DS-only title that's being ported to the PS3/Vita/Wii U for western countries) and the fact the Namco hasn't stated outright that whether the game will be JPN-audio with english subs, I think the chances of UW Red getting dubbed is very likely.
I don't want to instill false hope, but take what I say with a grain of salt. ^^

I get what you're saying, but it's a mind set thing. Being used to it is one thing, but some people (not saying you) automatically say anything other than the original is terrible just because it's in English. If you go into it like it's the first time you're watching it from a different perspective it's not too bad. It just takes a bit of time to make the adjustment.
Anyway, I finished Strong World's dub and I was overall impressed with their work. Luci Christian really did fantastic as Nami but that's old news. I guess my only complaints about Strong World as a movie is that the middle is a bit slow and it would have been nice to see some more fights, but other than that the movie is still great. Film Z is definitely better but this movie is still damn good to see again. I lucked out that I have the original Japanese blu-ray with Fanfare on it since the song had to be removed from the dub.

Casting Rayleigh would theoretically be effortless… Because they already cast him hears ago. Question is, will they even realize that he appeared in that flashback in the Buggy-arc? Or even if they do, I suppose it is possible that they'll give him a different voice because that was over 20 years ago in-universe and all…

I think you're right, especially since the PS3 version is getting a physical release, and if I recall, when the One Piece Podcast interviewed some Namco employees, they said that (in regards to Pirate Warriors) Sony of America only allows a physical release of a game if its in english. So I think there is a very good chance that we'll get some new dub voices.
I don't see a dub happening. Too much money that they don't need to spend. Romance Dawn was in retailers despite it not having English voices, so the rule is breakable.

I guess that may be what the case is, I've watched most of my anime dubbed lately besides Hunter X Hunter,One Piece and Attack On Titan so I would be very unsure when one of those gets a dub.
Saw this and I think I'm missing something with
Not joking- check out One Piece episode 325 and listen carefully. Thank you @FUNimation
Basically the guys over at Mega64 (Rocco, Derrick, Shawn and Garrett) voiced extras in the Ace vs Blackbeard episode. I caught that last night and couldn't believe it myself, but it's real. I love Mega64 so that was definitely a delight to see.

I guess that's something obscure only their fans would know because I had no idea.

Romance Dawn was never a Sony title though.
I strongly remember a Namco Bandai representative stating that PS3 titles without an English dub only get digitally releases.
I don't know if anything has changed since then, but keep that in mind.

Well lets ask a couple of questions.
1. even in the japanese dub did they cast the same guy they got to voice?
2. Should we really even be that worried about it? I mean half the time I imagine the poor Japanese anime staff get headaches from Eiichiro's Madness, look at Chopper using the rumble ball in the DavyBack fights, no rules or anything on chopper using them then BAM little bit later turns out he can only take so many at a time.
MORE TO THE POINT, I just think we can attribute old age to a voice difference. There would be no harm.

I remember something like that as well, that certain productions don't need a dub unless it's a retail release.
I imagine romance dawn didn't get one only because the retail release was a limited number of copies exclusive to gamestop. This seems WAY more widespread so I wouldn't be surprised if it actually did get a dub.
Romance Dawn was never a Sony title though.
romance dawn was originally a pep game that got ported to 3ds.

For you One Piece fans, we have a special treat for you! We will have One Piece Collection 9 available at the booth to purchase almost 3 weeks early! - See more at: http://www.funimation.com/blog/2014/03/13/heading-north-to-anime-boston/?utm_medium=FacebookBlog&utm_campaign=Conventions2014&utm_source=ConventionsSOCIALMEDIA&utm_nooverride=1#sthash.SY5oTmfq.dpuf
If you guys are going to Anime Boston, you can pick up Collection 9 early.
The cases they're giving away are the same ones they had when they released Season 4 Voyage 1 with that cover art book. Hopefully they make another one, I really want to get one :ninja:
If Funi has no problem casting characters they haven't gotten to yet and what you guys said about retail multi-plat releases is true, then getting a dub for RED is looking pretty possible right now.
They had no issue doing early casts for OP:UA, so maybe they'll do the same here. I hope they do it.

Just to clarify, Funimation does not dub video games. The studio that has done most of the anime video game dubbing (DBZ games mainly) that use Funimation casted characters is Okratron 5000. Oktratron 5000 is a studio owned/operated by Christopher Sabat, so although Sabat's studio does try to stay consistent with the casting from the show, Funimation is technically not involved with the dubbing.

Ah, I see…
Well, I hope then that Sabat's boys can maybe jump on this game.
Here's their twitter page.

If Funimation gets to the Sabaody Archipelago arc, then they should get the old 4kids cast for the fake straw hats
^That'd be funny, but I'd rather they do what they did in the original: have the Straw Hats voice them.
i do not want 4KIDS in OP anymore. people will make fun of it again.

While hilarious, there's only ONE 4kids voice that needs to come back.
David Moo as Duval.
the 4KIDS voices live in new york now.
I heard that David Moo retired from voice work and is now the owner of a bar in New York or something. It would still be hilarious if they got him to come back and voice either Fake Sanji or Duval.
So did anyone tweet or email scamdai about a potential dub?

In Brooklyn, but yes, it'd be…interesting.
So Colleen is gonna be on the podcast that's great if I had a question for her I'd ask when she'll have to take a break from recording luffy since she's pregnant?
who is her baby daddy
Yeah David Moo is working in the Quarter Bar in Brooklyn.
My idea for the fake Straw Hats was have the various FUNimation voice actors mimic the 4Kids VAs in the funniest way imaginable.

I don't know if this is the right thread to post this so feel free to move this to the right thread if nessecary.

OK, I saw the english dub of my favorite fight of One Piece: the entire Luffy vs Lucci fight, and I have to say that is was.......slightly less enjoyable then the Japanese dub. Here are two of my reasons why:
-The voice actor for Lucci, while doing an ok job half the time, doesn't sound as intimidating or dark or ruthless as how I think Lucci should sound. You see, when I think of english-dub Lucci, I think of Kirk Thorton in his Jin or Saito voice, but then again that's just me.
Now before you jump to conclusions, I'm not one of those dumbass biased anime pursuits who think all english dubs suck no matter what or some retarded shit like that since I'm a huge fan of plenty of anime that have english dubs that I find superior to the japanese dubs (like cowboy bebop and fullmetal alchemist for example). These are just a couple of things that I think Funi could have handled better, that's all.

If any of you wish to go there to rag on him, do not.
Have there been any known instances of that actually happening? If so, that's just terrible.
If any of you wish to go there to rag on him, do not.
I would go there and tell him how much I really…enjoyed his Xellos performance (which I honestly did).
FUNi's June solicitations are out and no One Piece season 6 is on the list. I really wonder what the holdup is.
They did just burn through two seasons and have a shit-ton of other shows to work on as well…. honestly, I thought a break would be obvious.
I thought so too until FUNi's official site said it was coming out May 6th.
