Viz Media Changes - Time to man up?

Having watched One Piece and read some scans, I know as do you that Zoro is indeed Zoro.

I had heard that that due to 4kids viz switched to Zolo which was arguably understandable. But that changed in 2006.

So why is it that after 6 years without 4kids we still have Zolo in the manga volumes.

I purchased volume 1 and 2 both from printings that occured in 2011 and truly think that it is not a hard thing for them to alter in their volumes after 12 and 16 prints of it.

So my question to you all as I haven't seen anything trying to change this before, do you think we could gather enough OP fans to contact viz and do petitions to have One Piece the way it should truly be?

It's for consistency reasons. They aren't going to change it.

They had 48 chapters with Zoro before, also what if logue town becomes part of the plot again, would it be rogue town still for this consistency?

IIRC, the name "Zolo" is trademarked with Shueisha. When Viz first started releasing One Piece chapters, they did have it as "Zoro", but then the 4Kids dub came and…..well, you know the rest. Like Galaxy said, they're not going to change it after releasing over 60 volumes in English.

I like having the correct names as much as the next guy, but it's out of our hands and not really worth stressing out about. At least we don't have those laughable OneManga translations (BB, Binami Bear, etc.).

Overall, the translation is very accurate, and that's what counts, right?

But surely we don't know whether they would change it or not without having a good try. Do we have any comments from viz saying they will keep it consistent until the end?

Have you been reading the Viz Media thread?
The issues been brought up to Alexis Kirsch multiple times. He knows the problem most of the fanbase have with the name change.

Because now all the bitches will be like 'Zolo? Yolo.' and then we will have to weep harder than we weeped when we saw the 4Kids dub.

I seriously doubt anybody is going to say "They spelled his name wrong!, I'm not buying!".

I've contacted viz to see if the give the whole consistency reasoning is what they are gonna give.

I'll buy the original release to support the series and then just read a really good translation on line.
I can't stand certain things about Viz translations and won't buy their release because of it.

Well, if you buy the Japanese volumes, I wouldn't expect you to buy the English volumes too.

I personally can't read Japanese(if I could, I would buy the originals too). And since I can't read Japanese, I cannot say whether or not Viz's translations are wrong, except in famous cases like Zoro's name, which is just one letter and doesn't bother me at all. I'd wager that most people that use that one letter as an excuse not to buy, weren't really serious about buying in the first place.

None of those exist though, so the point is moot.

It's not that their translations are wrong, there are just certain things like the "Zolo" example that I can't and won't be bothered to change it in my head when reading and they just bug me too much to support them.

On a side note, I understand very little japanese..I'd just rather have the original
