A space sim built on Cryengine 3 that looks like it's taking more advantage of what the engine is capable of than the latest Crysis games. It's going to be massive and incredibly immersive from the looks of it. It's got pretty much fully functioning ships with thrusters too as shown by this video:

So has anyone else joined up to this? They just released the Hanger Module for it so you can now walk around and inspect your ships. It's pre-pre-pre-pre Alpha material but damn it looks nice.

They're getting close to 18 million pledged to them.
It's good because it can be either single or multiplayer - but their multiplayer situation is going to be heavy on space exploration.

Is the website - Granted they had a minor hiccup with how they added an ingame store - they have said that it was for people who kept asking them to make another avenue for them to pledge money so it's not a requirement more another option for the people who keep throwing money at the screen.
Star Citizen has just past $23,000,000 making it the First AAA funding level Game crowd funded - the Alpha slots available are down to a mere 8,000 slots left.
If anyone has yet to back this project you are missing out - and before panicking the game is not a subscription model - once you purchase the game you get unlimited access to the Persistant Universe (mmo section) of the game. With a massive single player campaign included in the price of the game and many upcoming mission packs to be added in the future.
