Just something I have been wondering..
How Long Does It Take To Get Senior Status?
-
-
There's not a set date. It's something about participation or some shit. I've been here 6 years and don't have senior status.
-
Wasn't it universaly agreed on that if you have to ask, you're not getting it ?
-
Yes .
-
Try losing every ounce of shame you have. For starters, you could try getting arrested for drawing giant pictures of pigeons on a supermarket parking lot.
Then you can move on to making outdoor toilet paper art and stealing snow from the neighbours to make giant snow pigeons.Somewhere down the line you'll become a senior member for sure.
-
With my time under my old username included I have been on APforums for about 4 years total and I don't have one either.
It really shouldn't matter anyway it's not like you get power all you get is a brown star to make you feel special.

The True Path Of Becoming A Senior Member
-
Ah, well thanks for the answers I guessβ¦
-
Large bribes used to work in the days of oceanizer and e1n.
Now, I'm not trying to say "pay the admins an obscene amount of money for a brown star". The current AP administration team is above that sort of venality.
y'see that box near the top that says 'Donate'? Try it. It can't hurt, right?
-
It depends on the retirement age in your country.
-
do something big and outrageous to get noticed
then be friends with absolutely everybody
it's what worked for me, now look i'm a mod
-
It really shouldn't matter anyway it's not like you get power all you get is a brown star to make you feel special.
You also get a larger pm box and invited to all the bitching parties.
Mostly its a way of deferring respect upon members saying "these guys talk a lot about a lot of things and know their stuff, and they usually have good things to say. Pay attention to them." Mostly you get it by being active and participating a lot and getting noticed. Some folks get seniored within a year, some that have been around forever still haven't.
There's a waiting list that has about 20 potential people on it at any given time.
Getting into fights or having a bad attitude, especially right around the time of the promoting process, obviously work against you. Getting into debates, especially in threads with a lot of people reading them, and having good points and things to say, gets you noticed in a positive way.
And yes, if you have to ask, you aren't getting it.
Only 3-7 people get it throughout the year, so its taken pretty seriously by the staff⦠though mistakes are made from time to time.
-
I make threads about blowjobs and smelling people's chests.
-
quality threads, the lot of them
-
mostly you have to be really boring
and a senior citizen
but sometimes mistakes are made and interesting people get the status -
Just know that we brown stars watch and judge you normies at all times.
-
But Wolfwood, your a mod now. You're YELLOW stars. You're even more elite. You have actual powers!
-
Speaking of the PM box.
I could realy use a bigger one. I absolutely hate deleting PMs :(
-
I've been here longer than the majority of you smug seniors :swanson:.
-

Ever notice how our forum elite is distinctly canine? Might be an idea for you guys to re-roll your normie no-name account and put some dog in it.
-
Then how'd you explain me?
-
affirmative action
-
I've been here longer than the majority of you smug seniors :swanson:.
And you still haven't written your thesis papers that get you the graduation.
Then how'd you explain me?
We needed the money.
-
Isn't it funny Sakanosolo
I was only here for a couple months before I was a senior
Isn't it
funny
Just how things happen
That they happen at all
-
Teach us Holy-senpai :'3

The term "senior" is a little misleading. I can kind of understand why you have the title though. You were a member of New Pork City, which is a forum created by old members of this forum. But again "senior" is more like "arbitrary mod favorite".
-
I was a member of New Pork City too.
Send me in coach I'm ready
-
Well now that you mention that I suppose it's not a good reason for the title.

Nobody on AP, with the exception of Taboo and Zephos, even knows me from NPC
And she was silent on matters involving me because we're buds and she's biased
And Zephos gets banned once a month
Does that make you feel terrible Sako
I really really do not care about it and it took me like a day for somebody to inform me I was a senior in the first place. I just like picking on you.

Urogue made it to senior in under a year based largely on his AMVs and constant great analysis of OP. (And he made mod in like 18 months.) Nia based on her insane character tournament campaigns. Buster Call made senior really fast because she became forum Mom. Holy made it completely on merit. On top of being distinguishing in some way, these people have fun and interesting personalities, get along with a lot of people and talk a lot on the board.
Prior "connections" had nothing to do with it.
I ask for Zephos to be seniored every time it comes up and it never happens, despite his great threads, due entirely to bad history, even though he's all respectable now and stuff.
Most seniors make it in after about three years of heavy activity. Some more, some less, some people never, depending on who is ahead of them or makes more of an impression.
Would it make you feel any better to know you were already on the short list before this topic came up?
Generally, the title "senior" means "Person who acts more mature and is more knowledgable than the rest."

PM? What is a PM?
-
Getting in on the holy clause is easy and all, but do you really wanna do that to yourself.

I've stopped really caring. All these rules about it are stupid anyway in my opinion. "Oh yeah, your username was mentioned in the same sentence as the word 'senior' so you're dropped down on the list". "LIST"

The public rules are all in fun. They aren't the real rules.
Or are they?
-
The real initiation is that you have to spend a night in the old haunted subforum
OooooOooOOOooOooooo

Three nights in the next Nakama thread.

No offense intended at all, but it's really cute that you thought that was how it really worked.
Hey this member is well spoken, friendly, and adds some spice to the board. Oh welp she asked about seniorhood then her application goes in the bin.
-
I was added when I posted frequently, was well worded, and had an Usopp avatar. It was in December of the same year I joined.
I was basically a nobody they thought posted well.
Now look at me.
I'd say yer better off Sakon.
-
-
Well now that you mention that I suppose it's not a good reason for the title.
-
Don't feel bad, I've seen plenty of people who can't remember/pronounce the names I choose to use.
-
In spite of this, your post sounded condescending as hell .
That's the glory of the disclaimer. You can say stuff like that but it's cool cause you didn't mean it like you said it
-
Don't feel bad, I've seen plenty of people who can't remember/pronounce the names I choose to use.
lol i actually think you make pretty good posts but i just dont see you in the threads i actually visit
you actually just jumped from the 'everybody else' category to 'people i remember category' today congrats
-
Seems like most of newcomers nowdays got their wings in the general and other manga sections.
-
Which I don't typically post in.
-
I was mostly a lurker for some years and years, but decided I wanted to invest myself a bit more in the community after a while and posted outside places I would normally and got myself a non-throwaway avatar and sig. There was no "senior promotion" intent in it, I hadn't even given that a second of thought: I just wanted to be a bit more distinct as a poster. My guess is that it was noticed.
In my case, I had been around for a while, but as you can see from Holy and Urouge that's not necessarily a "requirement."
Woke up one morning to all sorts of congratulations on my wall andβ¦! Brown star! So, you know, don't want it.Be cool and it'll come.
-
You gotta be boring as possibly hell apparently.
Seriously.
These guys are no fun to be around. -
Just you wait til the senior singles cruise.
-
I bet it's a load of fun getting tons of messages because you're being mistaken as a mod by tons of newcomers who don't read the faqs eh seniors?
-
Oh just laugh while you still can, Jay. Just laugh and remember: he who laughs last laughs the best.
