The League is a show on FX, about 6 friends that plays Fantasy Football and tries anyway to win at no cost for the Shiva. The new season of The League starts tonight right after the season preimere of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
I can't wait for the new season tonight, I hope this season can top last season. I don't know how are they going to top the Thanksgiving episode from last season.
This is probably my favorite show on TV right now. It's written by the same guy who did Seinfeld, but it's a lot raunchier. It's about a fantasy football league at its core, but most of the jokes are general life jokes. A knowledge of football and fantasy football isn't required to love this show.
Each season has been progressively less about fantasy football, and the 3rd season had a lot of entire episodes that didn't even mention it. I guess they ran out of jokes for it. I'd like to see them get back to the setting a bit more this season, but I'll love it either way.
I notice that as well the last month or so, when I was rewatching the series from the beginning. I still consider this as one of my top current comdeies that is currently going on right now. I will say I like Ruxin more and more each season.
My thoughts on the season preimere. It was pretty great, and good follow up from the ending of Season 3.
! There were a lot great moments in tonights episode. The opening scene with Ruxin's dream was great. I did got a great laugh anything that Jenny did tonight from her little dance to the scene with Shiva. I think I'm going to like Ruxin's regin as the new commissoner of the League. The training camp was great as well.
! Tons of NFL cameos this week. RG3, Trent Richardson, Matt Kalil, Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Felix Jones, Brandon Carr, Jay Ratliff, Desean Jackson, and even Jerry Jones and Rich Eisen from what I remember. And there were probably other Cowboys that I just don't remember actually seeing. It's pretty easy to tell that this show is getting popular by drawing that many names in. The Jerry Jones cameo was the funniest to me. I want to see him have to talk to Taco some more. Hell, all of training camp cracked me up. Felix Jones was sort of awful, though. The season 3 draft order thing was really disappointing, and this one was a return to greatness.
! Also, trading the #1 overall pick for naming rights, lol. Ruxin got the most out of his deal to get the naming rights initially, for sure. Giving it to Taco was a win for him regardless, and he got the top pick out of it too, while keeping a high 2nd round pick and his position as commissioner to boot. Chalupa Batman McAsterix! Hahaha, Jon Lajoie (Taco) makes the show for me. He's well suited to be the crazy oddball, and his songs always crack me up just like his normal comedy routine songs. The naming song had me rolling.
! And yeah, Ruxin being commish should lead to some great moments this season. I hope there's a little bit more of a focus on the actual league this year compared to last. It sort of bothered me in season 3 that during Thanksgiving for example (despite it being a great episode by itself), the football games didn't even seem to exist to them despite them being football nuts. That seemed weird to me.

So that was kind of sad, but I think a live action show about something I have absolutely no interest in at all, provided it's good, is something I could totally get into.
Like there's a really foreign element to fantasy football or sports bars or whatever, it might be refreshing for me to watch something about it!
I'll try season one however I get ahold of it.
It's on Netflix online streaming if you have that. The show has great writing and features great comedians, so people who have no interest in sports also love it.
Season 1 is more about football and fantasy football than any other season. If you can't get into it, then try season 3 or even 2.

Yeah that first episode was really good. I kind of don't mind that I can't follow the football talk since it's not like it's necessary, still just as fun.
The framed First Joint gag got me pretty bad, as did that song at the birthday.

Yeah, through three full seasons (well, the first one being quite short) the show never really seems to drop in quality. I think the fact that it's about a fantasy football league sort of hurts its popularity. I think it's the funniest show on TV right now, but there are a lot of people who'd never think to even give it a chance.
Taco's songs always seem to steal the show for me.
Totally agree, I started watching during Season 2. When season 2 started, I just caught up to Sunny and The League was on right after it. I ended up liking the show. Enough that I caught the reruns of Season 1 on FX and caught up to the show by last year for Season 3. I agree Taco's stuff always makes me laugh. My most favorite episode is tie between the Thanksgiving episode and The christmas episode from Season 2. Just for some of the really funny moments that happens.
Episode 2 was great. It does seem like more of a return to fantasy football this year. I learned the other day that the show actually uses a fairly loose script and the actors develop a lot of the jokes on their own the week that they shoot it.
Ruxin is hilarious as the commissioner.

! The curse will lead to some hilarious stuff for sure, since we all know it'll be real. It's already started with poor Chalupa Batman's dong. I can't see them ever changing the trophy at this point, so my guess is that Shiva will have a change of heart at the end of the season.

! Everything about the episode was great. Ruxin storyline was too great. Nice, we have the first appearnce of the season for Rafi. Andre's impression of Mr. Freeze was funny stuff. There too many great stuff in this episode.
! The Shiva curse is serious stuff! I didn't even notice Rafi's absense until he showed up, tbh. The show is still hilarious.

Tonight episode was good.
! I thought the entire thing with Taco and Ruxin's commentary on Kevin's every little move was great. Jim McMahon was great with his cameo and Kevin's game winning touchdown was great.

! Lots of great running jokes. Pete and Ruxin treating Kevin's life like a natural documentary and Tugs constantly saying the wrong things/being nice within Seed's little crew.
! Here's my question, though. Exactly how and why did McMahon jump on board with TacoCorp (that shirt was golden, "i look like a 70s porn star!)? Figured the way his scene with Taco panned out, he would tell him to get lost.
I started watching this yesterday, only because I learned Jon Lajoie plays Taco, but I am loving it. Currently i'm in season 2.
Starting this Thursday night, we are getting three weeks of back to back new episodes of The League at usual time at 10:30 pm est.
Wow, both of tonights episodes were great.
! The like entire storyline during the 2nd episode with Kevin getting hurt. Andre's storyline in both episodes were great espically the return of Randy from Season 3. And of course Rafi was great as usually.
! Question….were these two the last episodes of the season?
! Because they were both great. Taco easily stole the first one, what with his casually explaining to Charlie what sex is. And his condom. And casually remarking on what position Kevin and Jenny used.....god, he's awesome. Ruxin's conversation with his doctor was also great ("you have AIDS" "you have terrible bedside manners")
! The second episode.....the part, the single part where the guys went shopping with Andre had me in tears. Andre always invokes my sympathy, but his clothing choices for the others were hiliarously awful.

No, these are not the last two episodes of the season. Next week, will be the last two episodes of the season. I'm guessing they are doubling up on episodes, since they had a late start for this season. Since its airing along with Its Always Sunny, which is having a much shorter season then usual.

I just started watching this show. Marathoned it on Netflix. It's one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. I was dying at last nights two episodes.

Wow, up to five seasons already? I remember getting into the show….midway through the 3rd season?....and catching up quick. Good to see it's continuing.
Yeah, I know. I didn't got into the show until like middle of Season 2. I'm happy that the show is continuing, since its gets better with each passing season. And its a really fun show to watch.
Who caught both episodes last night?
! For the first one…...yep, Ruxin totally stole this one. His arguments with the mall manager and his dad (Rupert Ruxin rules) were classic, and him sicking Taco in the Yabbagoya suit on the unsuspecting mall killed me. Also, I want a car like the Shivamobile.
! The second one......hell yes, more Rafi. That dude is probably my favorite character on this show, and that's saying a lot. He went all postal on hitting everyone......just shows you shouldn't cross his brother-in-law.
! Both eps. featured Shiva, so let's review everyone's curse-
! -Kevin and Jenny ended up with a son named Chalupa Batman and said son had a botched circumcision
-Andre found a woman with MLA and worse, is allergic to his semen (dear god, how do they come up with this stuff)
-Pete got dumped by Gina and lost the Shiva Bowl when he was about to win
-Ruxin had moblity problems and couldn't get a second kid
-Taco…...I guess I can say he got a ton of money and blew it all, but that was his choice.
! The Curse of Shiva strikes true, doesn't it? But the ending.....oh my god, the ending- reminded me of that South Park episode where the same thing happened. But the way Taco set it all up as a grandstand orchestra couldn't have been any better. What's more…....gasp no more Shiva Bowl? no more Sacko Bowl?
! So the writers are changing things up for the next season. Without those two........it's like the reset button is set on the League itself. Damn. Why do I have to wait almost a year for new episodes?
! Damn, both episodes were great. Now with one of the characters that were briefly mention won the league. I have to say I actually feel bad for Andre for once. It was great season finale episodes. I can't wait for next season to come.

Love the League. I've been watching since Season 1. Like most of you, I'm a huge Jon Lajoie fan.
I even named my Fantasy Football team (Shivakamini) because someone else already took "Password is Taco".
This week episode was pretty great.
! Ruxin storyline in the episode was great, espically the ending. Taco and his truck storyline was great as well.
I have to say that the last couple of episodes have been great.
! This week episode with the entire Jenny and Ruxin's dog storyline. Just made me laugh very hard. I reallly like the reference to the Thanksgiving episode, which is one of my most favorite episode of The League, with Kevin and Jenny's daughter bringing home another pet. I did like that we learn how Taco became who he is.
[hide]This week's Sunny and League had similar titles…"Flowers For..[stupid character's name]. Seriously. Both Charlie and Taco got "smarter"…..did both staffs team up? A weird situation that probably shouldn't be overthought?
Anyway, this episode was another knock-out. It's scary the stuff smart!Taco can come up with (lol at the law of conservation of boners), but I personally think it's scarier that Kevin/Ruxin/Pete/Andre were the ones that made him a dumb stoner to begin with. Or wait, wasn't that said in another episode?

The League Season finale. I have to say both episodes were really great in my opinion.
! Rafi was great as usual. The introduction of Ruxin's sister in both episodes were great. It is going to be very interesting next season with both Jenny and Kevin got both the Shiva and the Sacko now. I did got a great laugh during the entire final scene of the season with Ruxin and the choir singing to Kevin and giving him the Sacko.
I can't wait for next year for the next season.
