This thread was created for those of us who likes to take One Piece beyond FICTION and tried to find logic in every attack performed by one of the characters in the story, as of now we have characters that are able to create fire moves without possessing the Mera Mera No Mi (Sanji, [Kinemon](http://www.onepiecebay.net/manga/mangas/One Piece/672 - My Name is Kinemon!/17.jpg) and Luffy) or people that can create electric attacks without having the Goro Goro No Mi (Luffy, Law and McGuy “Thunder Lord”) and we have Vista who is able to create flowers with his swords (Hasn't been used on the Manga yet but I don't think Oda will allow something like this unless he doesn't plan on showing Vista again which is highly unlikely), we can try and find the closest explanation to this kind of attacks and try to figure it for our self how those attacks works.

To be fair I've seen too many people seeking an explanation for some attacks and I figured why not create a thread where we can discuss this kinds of thing and speculate about new attacks that we might be seen in a distance future.

This is my explanation for [REDHAWK](http://www.onepiecebay.net/manga/mangas/One Piece/644 - To Zero/18.png)

Redhawk is a fire based technique created by Luffy in which he stretches his arm using Gear 2 and Armament Haki “Hardening” leading this combination to create fire around his arm.

Here’s a GIF of the attack

First we need to understand what those techniques are in order to understand how REDHAWK works.
Gear 2 is a technique that can only be performed by a rubber person due by the increase of the blood flow that this requires, If this technique is used by a normal person it can tear your heart into pieces as said by Rob Lucci ( [CH.420 PAG.17](http://www.onepiecebay.net/manga/mangas/One Piece/420 - Buster Call/One_Piece-v44-020.png) ), Gear 2 allows Luffy to increase his speed to such an extent that he can hit the air, you can recognize this techniques by the first word “JET”.
Armament Haki is an ability that allows the user to bypass an elemental body or how we called a Logia user, this ability also grants you with the power to INCREASE the strength of your own attacks or DECREASE the damage that you can take from an enemy attack.

As I said above REDHAWK is a FIRE based attack that hasn't been explained yet, so I’ll do my best to make this explanation work

You need three thing to create fire

      1. Fuel (blood-water)
      2. Oxygen (Luffy’s Body)
      3. Heat (steam)
NOTE: Luffy’s increase of his BLOOD flow is what creates the steam by evaporating the WATER inside his body

As you now know Gear 2 allows the user to increase the speed of his blood flow allowing this to increment his strength, but this technique creates a peculiar effect called “STEAM” and is visible every time Luffy uses it (steam can burn you), once Luffy starts his attack the first thing he do is “Stretch” his arm this will allow his blood flow to travel at a higher speed due to the amount of space it founds once the arm stretches, Second he applies “Gear 2” allowing his body to create the steam that will later on turn into fire and Third he covers his arm with “Armament Haki Hardening” allowing the steam in his arm to be covered by the now visible armor in which the steam [disappears](http://www.onepiecebay.net/manga/mangas/One Piece/644 - To Zero/18.png) for a couple of seconds, once the team is hot enough it burst into flames allowing Luffy to create this attack called REDHAWK.

In chapter 718 Luffy used an attack called “Hawk Rifle” an enhanced of his very own (Gomu Gomu NO Rifle) which doesn't catch on fire even though Gear 2 and Armament Haki is applied on it, but this sudden change can be explain it, REDHAWK is a steady move this allow his arm to be in an\ steady position so it can catch on fire while the HAWK RIFLE is a spinning move which doesn't allow his arm to catch on fire due to the spinning speed of the attack.

So what attack do you want an explanation for or better yet bring your own explanation to this thread and let's discuss it

      PS: To be updated

I think Law's power can be put down to his DF ability.

I never really thought that Snake Shot was anything more than a glorified nipple-cripple. I thought that was like 'damage visualisation' rather than actual electricity.

Also, we know so little about McGuy that it seems dumb to put him in such a list. For all we know, he may have been to a sky island and put a shock dial in his weapon, or he may have a limited 'shocking' paramecia … etc.

Also, Kinemon's fiery abilities may actually stem from his ability since it isn't defined at all.

Clothes + fire? Nah, I would think that's way too broad a definition for a devil fruit (Violet's DF notwithstanding)

My impression of Red Hawk was from day one physics based. It works like a match stick. By throwing back his fist…he got a way to ignite his fist by friction. Of course his fist needs to have atleast super sonic speed, which she has. Then the oxygene in his bubble ignited the fist. So he needed super sonic speed, oxygen, a fist that can actually burn(busou) and a way the fist needs to fly. And because of the missing way, hardened jet gatling and hawk rifle don't have flames

Well … that's the end result. There were some theories flying around that he could be a mythical zoan or something. So his fire abilities might be down to a Devil Fruit ability.

This, a millionth times, like stuff entering the atmosphere at fast speed.
For me it's not fire but intense heat that for visual semplification was drawn as fire.

Luffys snake shot was a lightning attack? I highly doubt that.

…water vapor can burst into flames? And what, if anything, is set on fire - luffys skin?
If anything, the extreme friction of Hawk Rifle should be more suited for creating heat/fire, though it would still involve Luffy setting his arm on fire.

Of course, considering that Red Hawk somehow generated flames while completely submerged in water, assigning logic to these moves is pretty tough to begin with.

I like how the fundamental concept of this thread is to throw real-world physics out the window for some things - like how Luffy's rubber body actually works, haki, how Zoro's jaws can swing a sword properly, haki, how Sanji can kick a chunk of rock and smash it with his bare feet, haki … etc - then let it back in the door to assess how other superhuman feats are achieved - like elemental effects being used without magical superpowers.

Unless you feel like reconstructing the laws of the world from zero so that all of this works, it makes no more sense to come up with 'logical explanations' for superhuman feats than it does for DF powers.

Like if you want to explain away super-strength, Rokushiki and elemental attacks, you may as well try your hand at the mechanism fo the Devil Fruits, how Buggy controls his split up body, ALVIDA, etc.

It was said in a famous series about a rubber pirate called monkey d. luffy, I'm sure you know it.

What? Can you tell me the chapter and page?

                                      Ocean Guide

"The ocean sees the beginning of the world,

and the ocean knows the end of the world.

Thus, it calls us towards the way we must take.

Thus, it leads us towards a proper world."

I think things in fiction could be achieved in real life. Everything our minds can think of is a possibility in reality.

I really hope no one interprets this quote in a remarkably stupid way.

The thing is Hawk Rifle could really be on fire originally on that arm-winding panel. It might've fizzled against a Haki-protected target (Chinjao's belly). Similar to Nen on HxH (remember on GI, Gon punching the ball and Killua holding it, Killua could've easily protected his hand by aura so he won't be injured but is concerned that the attack will lose some power that way).

Some long-term predictions: Vegapunk with Paw-Paw fruit for Nakama!!! Kaidou is gonna be killed by Blackbeard and get his strongest Zoan DF!!!

I think things in fiction could be achieved in real life. Everything our minds can think of is a possibility in reality.

but that doesn't mean everywhere in reality. Some things may only happen in other universes running on different set of laws of physics or even different mathematical structure.
