I was kinda hoping we would hear from VDD again.
I have a feeling that Vander Deckin was included in this arc mostly to foreshadow his ancestors existence in the upcoming Void history arc.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

this chapter was made of cuteness and funny. It's been all pointed out already (several times, so there's no need to repeat once more). I've been grinning at my laptop whole time I've been reading this. I love it when they are setting sail.
Among other things I love the new Log pose, earlier it was follow the path that was set at the beginning, now they have freedom to choose every time (sure Luffy would argue to follow most dangerous route every time, but the chose still exist). I knew there would be some changes in navigation, but I've expected something like charts or several poses pointing to one island, and I must say I'm happy with this new development.
This chapter what will Oda throw at us next: Smoker & Tashigi (can't wait to see more of G5), Big Mum, some Supernovas or maybe something we totally don't expect?

Thanks for all of that! That's really witty with the ningyo stuff.
- other than that, looking forward to what this year of One Piece brings us. I'm actually hoping for either
a) a relaxed crew-interaction chapter next, which would be really great to see, or
b) a jump to some world-building things, maybe Shanks, or anyone really that might play a role in the next arc(s).
As much as I really really want to rush in the New World and see all the crazy shit, I think I would prefer some form of the crew relaxing for a good amount of time, first. It's been so, so long since they've just relaxed like during Robin's joining scene after Alabasta; they do their "relaxing" now when they're being chased or in battle, etc. Maybe that's the way it's going to stay because Oda wants to emphasize the chaos of the New World.
Arabasta=FI
Friend with King=Friend with Poseidon
Protect Queen Vivi=Protect Mermaid Princess
Ussop and Chopper duo fight (well homage)= same
Stop Revolution= Stop Revolution
Stop the bomb= Stop the ship
Crocodile wants ancient weapon= Hody wants ancient weapon (Mermaid Princess)etc..etc..
Same structure but with different objects. So for me it was a repeated process. And i don't want to see the same thing everytime Luffy enters a kingdom.
Nonononononono The king in Fishman island was not poseidon but Neptune so you messed that comparison up also stopping the bomb was a big hassle while Luffy was the only one to stop the ship. Hody did not want an ancient weapon, he probably never heaard of one before. At the point in the story we were at he basically just wanted to kill anyone that got in his way including the royal family and strawhats.

@$abZ:
But they weren't in any of those places long. We didn't see that much, compared to Alabasta, Skypiea, Water 7 etc. What I mean is things happened too quickly for it to be a real adventure.
The anime will take care of those filler scenes that Oda couldn't put in
It's a shame that cNet seems to be on hiatus from transcribing. Ah well, with Alpha coming soon, it's probably for the best.

I'd like that as well. Just them getting some relaxed time to catch up. I am eagerly waiting for Luffy follow up on his statement about having a lot to tell the crew. Weather that be about the world, Haki, or things about the past 2 years I can not wait!
hmm yeah relaxing is nice. Maybe luffy will relax while kicking smokers ass with one hand eh?
hmm yeah relaxing is nice. Maybe luffy will relax while kicking smokers ass with one hand
eh?
Nah, I'd much rather Smoker still be stronger than Luffy.
Nah, I'd much rather Smoker still be stronger than Luffy.
Well, Smoker obviously spent the whole 2 yrs in the NW and managed to raise 2 ranks in the navy. He is also VA now, so it could be that he can use haki.
But I'm just lookin forward that Luffy can now actually hurt Smoker finally.
IMO they are both quite on the same lvl, but yet I don't think they'll hav a serious "3-10-days-fight-to-death" now. They never had such a fight.
To speak again bout Shira and other Royal families the SHs have met yet:
If it really comes to an end fight with the WG, I'm sure Kobra would join Luffy's side.
I reread the post-Arabaster-chapters, especially Kobra's interaction with Robin.
When Robin lost her will to live any further. Kobra seemed disappointed and sad. He was like:"Then why did we have to…?"
IMO he wanted to say:"Then why did we have to protect this Poneglyph all the time!?"
The shandian chief also cried tears of joy when Robin translated the Jayan Poneglyph. I just wanna show that the people who know bout the poneglyph seem to be kinda protecting the Poneglyphs until Robin comes to translate it. Though IDK why sumone has to protect a stone that can't be destroyed by anything.
IMO Kobra is not very pro-WG. His country is a member of the WG, so the WG couldn't harm Kobra's people (slave trade and so on).
8 yrs ago when Dragon was mentioned Kobra might not know much about him, so he thought Dragon was just a maniac possessed to get power and rule the world.
I just can't imagine that Kobra likes an organization whose head officers act worse than Wapol (tenryuubito).
But this is all just speculation of mine. I just sumhow think that those "FI gets destroyed" and "sea kings pulling Noah by Shira's will" cases aren't closed entirely yet.
Oda wouldn't have displayed Caimies thoughts of Shirley if it wasn't important.
And there is a difference between Vivi's farewell and Shira's farewell:
Vivi has already travelled with the SHs. Shira haven't. She just saw the sea forest. If there wasn't a VDD, she could have managed that by herself.
Maybe we'll see her much sooner than we think once Caribou tells his "boss" about her. Would smell like a good ol' rescue arc...
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Bout the SHs relaxing:
Last time they were relaxing was after they met Aokiji, cause Luffy and Robin have been frozen.
I think they got enuff time to relax on their way to the surface. Sea kings as well as VDD and the kraken are no threat anymore.
Maybe sum pirates that used to be Hody's slaves stay under the surface to warn the SHs b4 it's too late.
Smoker and Luffy's fight will be inconclusive, as it will inevitably be interrupted by something else - like Big Mam, and the Strawhats will get away.
@Lazy:
Smoker and Luffy's fight will be inconclusive, as it will inevitably be interrupted by something else - like Big Mam, and the Strawhats will get away.
That is the theme of Smoker vs Luffy. 2 out of 3 times Smoker seems to attack Luffy is when Luffy is in middle of antoher task that has a time limit. Lougetown - Luffy was rushing to the ship when Smoker attacked, Arabastra - crew was (trying to except Luffy running to restruant) hurry to get supplies, Marineford - Luffy was focusing on rescuing Ace. So each encounter had other aspects involved that had Luffy rushing off instead of staying and fighting Smoker.
I was kinda hoping we would hear from VDD again. His whole point of marrying shirahoshi was so he could get some treasure that his family had been after for generations. Yet we never heard about it again. I figured he would let slip and Nami would hear treasure and they would be off searching for it. Instead he was captured and never shown again…...even the NFP were shown old but VDD wasnt in the panels and he shouldne be old because he was never shown taking the pills.
The 'treasure he was after was th power she had to talk to Sea kings so yeah If Nami heard 'treasure' she would be dissapointed that it wasn't a gold n gems treasure. I know he was in the same cell as the NFP but I agree, its surprising we didn't see him again.

Nice, thanks for catching that Rubia
Whats up with all this "whine whine whine whine, den didn't get any deevelopment,' boo freaking hoo, the only thing that made him relevant was that he was Toms brother thats it.
Out of topic here, but I have always wondered more about Yassop and why after Ussop joined Luffy he seemingly stopped caring, I mean we have Luffy always saying how he wants to meet shanks who is more or less his father figure. So when we were first introduced to Ussop IIRC he was always checking the coast looking for an oncoming pirate ship, and it was explained he was actually waiting for his Dad, to be honest I really expect Ussop to be similar to Gon, in reasons of finding his parent, at the very least to tell him that his wife is dead.
Which kind of makes Yassop a jerk for being in east blue and not even going to see his son, he didn't even go to the funeral…..I have no idea if mypost even makes sense but I somehow had to say it:getlost:
this chapter. Too many flashy show off and such, not enough plot development. Didn't mean it was bad though…
not enough plot development ? Are you kidding ? New chars abilities introduced, the strongest of the whitebeard army.
not to mention also the epic marco quote in the end(like my signature:P)
when i was waiting for those manga i was more anxious than ever in one piece
Dunno if this has been mentioned before …
Funny thing, IMO: Luffy not wanting to become a hero and most fishkids treating him as such!
Surume took Wadatsumi and went away in a previous chapter.
Shame on me, I totally forgot this. Thanks a lot for remembering where Surume is … :).
My dream of a bronze statue of Luffy seems to be dying…
@Lazy:

It has been a while since Luffy has mentioned that, hasn't it? But there's maybe 10 more years manga left, so I'm sure he'll have his statue eventually. lol.

I've always wondered about that.
There is a scene in the anime were Usopp met Daddy Masterson, its said that Oda orginally was going to have the scene in the manga but cut it out due to timing, he wanted the cew to go to Grand line by the next issue, #100.
I found a summary of the Green Databook from sone one that read it (sorry lost link) butt hey said there was a scene cut out from theend of Water 7 arc. In this scene Usopp met and talked to Garp, asking if he knew about a pirate named Yasopp. Garp figured out that Usopp is the son and said that "Chaser Yasopp" is alive then Garp told Usopp "take care of my grandson". If that summary is correct, I wonder if Oda just had the events happen 'off panel'. If so it reveals 2 things - Yasopp's epiteth is "Chaser" and that the marines may know (if Garpor his men or Aokoji told them) that Usopp is the son of Yasopp and that gives the Strawhats another connection to the Yonkou Shanks' crew.
I know that its too little time whent hey do show Yasopp to see if he think's of his son, but we see even little clues that Usopp has talked about Kaya but not if he talked about Yasopp. Well Usopp used tot alk about Kaya, last time it was refered to was when they were on the Merry, Sanji mentioned something of getting a new ship and Usopp snaped at him of knowing where the ship came from, Sanji replied yeah from the beautiful blond friend of Usopp's.
So Usopp had talked in the past about Kaya, but we don't have any clue that he's talked about his dad. Heck, Luffy is the only that is aware that Yasopp is Usopp's dad. If the scene of ecountering Dady Masterson is cannon (happen off panel in manga) then Nami knows. Zoro knows his dad is a pirate, but we never shown he was around when it said his dad's name.
What gets me is that the Redhair pirates had made Fushia Village on Dawn Island (Luffy's home) their base for nearly a year before leaving when Luffy was 7 1/2. In Luffy's meeting with Usopp, he said that Yasopp always talked abut Usopp (we never hear if Yasopp told Luffy about his wife) but in that year in East Blue, he never went to check on his son.

Yea, but then the next chapter he says he has to marry her to get into the palace so he can get the dream his clan has sought and has a back gorund pic of tons of treasure. It seems pretty convoluted to me if his dream was just marrying the person with the power of the sea kings.

Lesson #32: All dads in One Piece are jerks.
I would say that's true for the biological dads, but it seems the foster fathers are cool, (Whitebeard to his crew and allies, Hilulik to Chopper).
If that's lesson #32 … what are the lessons before it?

I was talking about biological dads there.
Also, Lesson #33: Kings are an exception to Lesson #32.
I'm too lazy to enumerate all the lessons. Maybe someday. Other scholars are welcome to have a go in the meantime.
lol thanks I figured you ment the bilogical dads since they are the ones to disappear on the kids. I rack my brain to find a good biological dad and I can only think of two. In 15 years, over 650 issues, we see only two good dads and they fall under Lesson #33: both are kings. King Cobra and King Neptune
hehe on the Lessons, I asked because I was wondering if anyone had posted a list. This is the second time I've seen a Rule/Lesson that refered to One Piece

Can you tell us if the part of the minister's explanation about the log pose about "something so extraordinary happening in one of the next island that it moves the island's magnetic field" really exists? Because MZ has it, but MS seems to have omitted this part completely…
So, Pagaya is an exception to Lesson #32 too?
Calgara wasn't a too bad dad either, except the fact that he wanted to sacrifice his daughter. :x

I'm going to take up drinking if there's a break next chapter.
You have the power to stop this, Oda!!
Seriously every chapter since the end of Fishman Island has just been an upward rollercoaster for me. What's gun' happen o_o
@AlucaDraculA
I agree with the "Y U NO?!" but seeing as this is the guy who used the magical floaty wood from an SBS in the actual story, like Tatermoog mentioned earlier, I doubt Oda forgot about it or anything. Just some hints would've been nice within the FI arc if we ever are to see it.
Did he ever say that we're going to see Fishman Karate Dojo? I only remember this one SBS where he was asked about where it's possible to learn Fishman Karate and Oda said that in Fishman Island, but didn't say anything about dojo or that we'd see it.
One question that i hope it's not stupid . Shanks stated during his meeting with whitebeard that the three scratches on his left eye were made by Blackbeard. Shanks is seen having that wound from the very first episode, when luffy was still a kid and having NOT met ace yet. Blackbeard only recently have left the Whitebeard crew, and by recently i mean when ace was already a commander of WB pirates. So that means that Teach made this wound to Shanks when he was already on Whitebeard crew and at least 6 years before the timeskip judging by the ages of luffy and ace when they met,not after he quit and gained that devil fruit power ? So Teach has very good mental power and amazingly strenght in order to have done that, and their battle must have been known to the rest of whitebeard crew and even whitebeard himself. My point is, why the fuck did whitebeard NOT know about their clash ?
He doesn't have omniscience
Did he ever say that we're going to see Fishman Karate Dojo? I only remember this one SBS where he was asked about where it's possible to learn Fishman Karate and Oda said that in Fishman Island, but didn't say anything about dojo or that we'd see it.
All the fuss about not seeing the dojo is just nerdrage over 1 text bubble. It was never implied we'd get to see it anyway.
My point is, why the fuck did whitebeard NOT know about their clash ?
It's a comic book, it would have hindered the exposition if he said "I already know, fuck off" and then they clashed.
Nope. It's a manga. But you got a point there. That would be kinda stupid if Shanks tell WB that BB gave him the three scars on his eye and WB said, "I already know, fuck off" and then they clashed.
Come on, you can't actually expect WB to know every single of his crew's actions. From what I can see and think, the crew don't necessarily stay with him 24/7. I'm sure they can go off the ship and do whatever the fuck they want alone, anytime they want to.

While Oda mentioned the dojo in a SBS, it was just to say where they learn Fishman Karate.
Shergal is right, there was only one mention by the characters of going there. Right before the timeskip just after Kuma sent the Strawhats flying, unaware of that Hatchi, Keimi and Pappug were talking to Shakki about where they would show the Strawhats on Fishman Island. After either Keimi or Pappug said taking them to Mermaid Bar first, Hatchi disagreed and that they needed to visit the Fishman Dojo first. That was it, no other mention after that.

The reason the posts are 'low' is because no one had found something to argue endlessly about. For the past several chapters the posts reached anywere from 35-50 due to some people continuely arguing with each other over some point of other. The chapters before this has same amount of posts as this one.

Agreed .
I feel like oda didnt show the dojo because it may involve Jinbe's flashback if he joins. Something happened like 30 years ago to Jinbe on that island
@Gia:

My thoughs exactly.
Did anyone discuss the new world yet? what islands we're gonna see, will the first nw arc involve a supernova and the likes?
If not that would rather surprise me, since I thought everyone is pumped for the nw.
