Mario Party 9 for the Wii details
I don't get it. Everyone travels together on a single raft/car/boat/carpet? what the fuck? What happened to, you know, moving around the board like separate pieces?
the boss fight idea is kind of cool, hopefully each board will have a "story" like Marioparty 1 and 2.
but after the general suckitude of the games from 5 onward, I just can't bring myself to get excited.
Well, I think were also getting traditional Mario Party in it too - moving around by unfair dice.
For the first time in the Mario Party franchise, each stage culminates in a Boss Battle. Collectively, players must combine their strength to defeat classic foes such as Bowser
and King Boo while still playing competitively to boost their own individual scores.
Apparently whoever wrote this never played Mario Party DS since that was the first game to feature boss battles making this game the second.
I'm not liking the idea of moving around together..

Mario Party 9 trailer.
Im kind of interested but my favorite mario partys are 3,4 and DS
Wow, some of those minigames actually look pretty boss.
You know, I might pick this game up just for that car pool mode thing.
Its so damn crazy/stupid I kinda wanna try it out.
So, you always travel in a group, don't earn coins or buy stars, and instead collect these Star Bit things? That's - huh.
See, I never saw a problem with the core mechanics of Mario Party. I don't think anyone really does, it's just that the games came out so rapidly that they over-saturated people's appetite, and the increasingly sucky minigames didn't help, either. Sure, there's some refinements, but after you get to like 4 or 5, you could just keep the rules exactly the same, and concentrate on GOOD minigames and cool boards, instead of flipping the goddamn table over.
anyway Mario Party 1 came out 14 years ago and I feel like an old person now and these new kids should get off my lawn.

You're not the only one.
Remember those minigames where you had to rotate the joystick really, really fast? Like that treasure fishing one?
The center of my palms will never be the same ever again thanks to those.
Mario Party was very, very serious business back then.
I wonder if there are any of those hand-destroying minigames in the newer games.
Well, if there's only going around in a group, I'm not sure if I want this.

I still get nightmares with Pedal Power…
That stupid bike, that stupid lightbulb, that stupid Boo...
The N64 games are still the best IMO.
I haven't been a fan of the Mario Parties since 5 to be honest. I am not liking the idea of mixing up the core mechanics of the game but eh I'm always willing to try new things. Might be worth a rental.
This game just came out this sunday

wow. Is it really that old? I remember loving that one so much.
Despite some changes I don't like I'm having a lot of fun with this, I really like the inclusion of Shy Guy and magikoopa.
Played this with my brother and mom. No CPU. I really enjoyed it. I've only played 1, 2, and 8 before this, but I enjoyed it most out of those. The BOSS BATTLE games are a blast, and I thought the new mechanics were pretty great.
