@changsho:
Makes you wonder; the people in Skypiea have been using Impact Dials as weapons, but they still wear it as gloves, therefore absorbing the Impact with their own arm. If even the most experienced users don't try to channel the reaction, is there really a way to do so?
Well, I don't remember completely, but my impression was that the few people that did use the impact dial (I only remember the priests) were just strong enough to handle it, whereas the average person is not. I think Usopp could theoretically become strong enough to use it without causing so much injury. Unless maybe there was something that they were doing to absorb the shock.
But then again, maybe the whole Usopp using Impact thing didn't occur to Oda when he made the Dial.
It's possible, it wouldn't be a first that something like that has happened, but it seems more likely that he did think of it, but had other ideas.
Hmm, about the part where the FF jeered at his slingshot, I think that was only in the Anime. He still used the slingshot when he fought Luffy.
That particular part was, but Franky did berate his weaponry in the manga.
This got me thinking, though. The original slingshot has remained intact for 38 volume. Must be pretty tough wood. But how did you shape it to be like that? Carve it?
I have been trying to get my boyfriend's cousin to make a slingshot like that for me. He told me that the way to make it strong is to layer the wood so that the fibers in each piece go against one another, and carve the shape out from that, and it will be hard to break.
