Are we gonna have more deaths from now on?

The title explains itself.

As we all know, One Piece isn't exactly known for it's body count. Only after a few years ago Oda finally kicked ol' Grim's ass back into action and killed two of main characters. The story has reached a new point. Now we're in the New World witch is told to be far more dangerous compared to other seas, while plot itself has become darker and darker.

So what do you guys think? Are we gonna have more main character deaths in the story? I'm trying to post a poll too but I'm not sure if it's gonna work!

No, we won't have many more deaths, but Shanks will definitely die.

Vergo and Monet won't die, it serves no purpose to the story and would be a waste of great characters.

IIRC: Below where you make a thread, there's a box titled "Additional Options". There's a checkbox there that you click in order to make a poll, then you type in how many poll options you want. Submit the thread, and you should be taken to a screen where you can type in the poll options.

I definitely think there will be other significant character deaths (I don't see Shanks NOT dying), but I don't see many of them dying until close to the end.

I answered no, except if they are essential to the story, though that said I don't think they will ever be essential to the story again

Oda loves his characters, if they don't have a purpose for dying then they will will be fine. Fodder on the other hand could be different, I guess.

No and I personally don't see the need of it. Like Oda explained so long ago, most characters in One piece are driven by their dreams, so when some kid in a hat comes in kicks your ass and basically ends that dream its worse than death because some random stranger has just undone years of your life why because he was helping someone and he was annoyed by you.

That's basically it. The true central deaths that happened were important and impacted the story as a whole, hell you could say that the death of whitebeard reignited the pirate era and everything that came with it.

The most interesting I find about the new world is that we will have Luffy taking out Yonkou's, people with influence in the world and people I don't see just giving up their power base. So how does Luffy stop them from ever coming back, I think its going to be the same as what happens with Doflamingo, they are going to revert back to simple pirates and will become free game for everyone.

Blackbeard will face Luffy and Luffy alone so he probably not dying.

Nope, they die when their dreams end. A person full of pride who lives with that fact would welcome death I think, so having their dreams slashed is pretty bad.

Probably not. I've noticed most shonen series save the majority of death for the final story arc, when they have the final war.

This has always been a vague idea in my mind. I want him to literally turn into a monster towards the end.

I'm think about the chances that Blackbeard interrupt the battle with Kaido and steal his possible Zoan Fruit (Possible the strongest attack Zoan)

Plus i wonder if he wants Marco's for the regenerative ability

This thread basically already exists in the Monet wager thread, and its been talked about at length many many many times. It doesn't need a thread now.

And given the poll's current result of unanimous "no more deaths" that seems a fine place to close.
