Lucy, stop being friendly with your former enemies.
Another chapter of the adventures of our favourite character Zeref.

His Backstory, his presence, he is very different compared to most Shounen Villains.

some times I want to take your post serious but I just can't
His Backstory, his presence, he is very different compared to most Shounen Villains.
He's boring as fuck compared to shounen villains. Unless you're only counting the terrible ones and ignoring the decent ones.
He hasn't done a thing worth a damn.
His story is decent, but the fact that it was told to us terribly (Hey kids, this is the secret story of our protagonist, that he STILL DOESN'T KNOW!) I don't trully get his motivation, is it guilt? sorrow? hope of reuniting with his brother?
He has done a ton of shitty stuff for people, just because he isn't cackling about it doesn't excuse all the lives that his attempted suicides took. At least he seems to feel responsable for it, but the way that mashima portraits it, is too close to "awww, poor accidental murderer" for my tastes.
So, was he the emperor the entire time, and his long voyages are when he wanders around, killing random animal life and stuff?
That would almost make sense. I mean that he leaves when he feels he can't control his power or something.
Damn and there goes the ray of light i had for this arch, or maybe am speaking too soon, but honest'ly i don't no what Mashima had in mind making Zeref the Emperor of this kingdom. Mashima hasn't totally mess up, because the way this other continent just came out the blue, and then saying the strongest in Ishgar is one the 12 springer, i was buying all that hype and build up it was good. Heck human form, Acnologia would have even been a better player as emperor than bland zeref. I have know doubt some of these 12 springer will show there worth, but for some reason i don't know if can take them serious now with zeref at the helm, if there threat level from 1 to 10 was like 8 then, i would say it has been peck down a bite to like 5.
I thought his curse only kicks in whenever he starts to think that all life is precious. Going by that reasoning, maybe he views Alvarez empire and its citizen as worthless garbage in order to suppress the curse.
Also, what kind of perfect empire that is doing fine with their emperor wandering all over the place and going missing for decades?
Maybe the way he took over impressed the people so much, that they are scared shitless into doing anything against him even when he's gone.
If this forces Mashima to do something with Zeref different from showing up at the end of an arc, shouting something random and then "mysteriously" disappear, I'm fine with it.
Zeref almost makes me miss the days when Jellal was shoved into every arc
Way to go Mashima, with the appearance of Zeref every interest in this arc died in an instant. And apparently Makarov saw no pictures of the emperor when he was there like a year?
This is probably worse than the seven year time skip. I guess he finally ran out of character designs and was like "meh, fuck it lets just put zeref in there."
At least is not a new Gerard.
Regardless of how mediocre this arc was probably going to be anyway it would have been nice to have a conflict that didn't revolve around Zeref for once and expanded the setting at that.
I expect nothing from this manga and still get let down
At least is not a new Gerard.
I honestly would have preferred that over zeref being shoved into every plot for the last 4-5 arcs.
I like the Zeref addition, makes total sense that the most powerful Mage runs the most powerful magical kingdom. I felt he had to be tied in somehow, might as well give him real face time after giving his past a reveal. Shows more of a human side to an otherwise godlike killing machine.
Helps with the tragic villain image.

Also reading the page, are their even any fans of Fairy Tail on the site? I feel that most posts here are negative more often then not. If you don't like the story is it that hard to just stop reading?

If being serious about their posts, Lord Perucho is a fan.
I think it comes down to how people kept going with Naruto and Bleach on this forum. Except for maybe one or two people, they dislike the overall series, but was very fond of it to a certain point. Because of how long they kept with it, they want to see it to the end. Like the other forums, we give it props if we feel like it's deserved. Plus, when reading a chapter only takes a few minutes if you just want to read the chapter and not stare at each panel, it's not taking a huge chunk of your time.
There are lots of questions I have about so many things that don't make sense, but I don't expect them to be answered. I am interested in how this will work though, and you can put me in being interested in this development. We can also know what his answer is going to be to Makarov, since Zeref will definitely want Mavis.

It's possible that any pictures of the emperor were forbidden by a royal decree or something.
Though, he could have someone describe him…
Yeah, my excitement fell rapidly when I saw that approaching shadow with a pointy hair. Silly me, while reading the chapter, I half expected that Alvarez aren't villains at all, and that the final conflict won't be so black and white.
At this rate, I can't see the 12 Spriggans other than yet another typical Zeref cultists, possibly the worst of all we've seen so far. Considering how horrible the mentality of their foot soldier was in past chapter, I presume their higher ups are even worse.
In retrospect, I guess Ishgar never tried negotiation back then since they had Face and Aetherion to retaliate with.
I don't know anymore, how exactly did Lucy interact with Karen and Angel beforehand?
Well, at least Lucy's ass did make someone really enthralled.
At least Makarov's beard looks awesome.
@Bartholemew:
I don't know anymore, how exactly did Lucy interact with Karen and Angel beforehand?
Lucy only heard about Karen from Loki, while Angel was Lucy's enemy back in Oracion Seis Arc. Just like what she's doing in this chapter, she gloated about killing Karen and taking her keys… or something.

She didn't. Karen was a huge bitch.
I remember Lucy saying that Karen was a very popular mage, si I'm trying to remember if that had any impact in Lucy's decision to become a Celestial Spirit mage, but I think it didn't, so the callback was unnecessary.

try to say this in Bleach thread.:ninja:
so…anksehram "good mood" is the only explanation we are gonna get about how the guy that can kill everything in a mile radius by accident is now the emperor of a continent...right
actually it's not even that since it seems that zeref was the emperor since the beginning of the manga
Look at all those OP motherfuckers.
They didn't done anything but I certainly know that they are cocky OP motherfuckers.
MANSHIMA delivering, Zeref again makes things interesting, he is already a better emperor/king than the likes of Doflamingo.
War vs Acnologia, and somehow feels we are reaching EOS…
The Heart .
Chapters of FT Zero and Ice are out on Manga Stream.
I'll have to read Ice later, but Zero was overall solid in the end. Last chapter feels like there was some subtle foreshadowing for what will happen in later Fairy Tail, but I could be looking into it too much. The line I'm thinking about is.
! How Mavis said she would need each of them to help her in the future. This could be further proof that Yuri is one of the strong mages in Alvarez, and is a double agent because of Mavis. Perhaps Hades, or whatever his original name was, did his thing because of Mavis. Warren, who knows what he will do.
Was this the first time a fairy was actually shown?

Yuri is kinda dead. Unless Necromancy is involved somehow.
When was it stated he was dead? Unless Yuri is the one who became Hades, and I'm blanking out on the other guy's name.
Read Ice, and another one that was quite good overall. Nice designs, the stories were short and simple, and there was a little world-building that the main series lacked. In some ways I'm glad these were short, but in other ways I wish it went on a bit longer because I liked them.
Did anybody ever keep reading the Wendy one? I read the first few chapters and dropped it quickly with the direction it was going.
@The:

Didn't you read that infodump exposition timeline stuff at the end of Zero?
Don't tell me you also don't know about the 2nd trade war.

Uh..
Page 22. Year xx700 Yuri dies.
^Then we can safely say that the defected Ishgar God Serena shown in silhouette is completely different person, not Makarov's father Yuriy. It wouldn't be fair for Makarov anyway if his father didn't age at least as much as Warren or Precht.
I'm going to be honest, I just skipped the exposition dump since it felt unimportant. I've never been a fan of those kinds of exposition dumps, and when I saw the last one being about Tenrou Island, I thought it was a recap of the whole FT manga. I did see the trade wars thing, but since I had no idea what that was, I though it was just extra fluff.

Well, if it says Yury died, then he must be dead. :ninja:
We saw what became of both Precht and Warren. Yury remains a mystery and odds are, more of him is going to be revealed. And since there's a guy that looks just like him out there, you can bet it's all connected. Maybe LH had something to do with it.
The darked out part probably has a hint of what happened to Mavis.
We had some great ending chapters for the spinoffs, then we get regular FT
! I would've been okay with the chapter overall until the last part happened. So much for an infiltration that could've been interesting and actually get some world building in before shit goes down. Instead Makarov is already saved, and Zeref is still someone I don't understand. He loves life and didn't want to be near people. Then he made demons so he could be killed. Now he wants to kill everyone just for Natsu to kill him. If he wants to die, why not have Fairy Heart destroy him? Seems like it's strong enough to kill him. I liked the nonsensical stuff of FT early on, when it was small stuff. Now it's just unbearable with the nonsense being front and center
Not a terrible chapter I suppose. I'm glad he didn't try to do a cliffhanger and make us wait a week to do what he did this week. He really seems to not know how to write suspense though…
I doubt I can remember any of the spriggans dumped together in this chapter. They barely make any memorable impression as for now and their designs are nothing special either. Hopefully the rest of them will be introduced in better way than this.
So it seems Hades/Precht was revived and is now called August. And Bacchus has a twin brother too.
I liked that moment when Mest came to save Makarov. It was an intense scene for some reason.
I'd like it even more if it didn't happen at last possible moment, but Mest snatched Makarov mid word or something and Zeref tried to kill them both but couldn't react fast enough.
So according to the timeline at the end of Fairy Tail Zero, Yuriy died in his 30's, probably from being killed or illness. Still doesn't rule him out as God Serena, as he could have easily been revived by Zeref as an Etherious. Would explain why he still looks so young, if they are the same person.

Or it was some kind of an effect of Fairy Heart and he faked his death so he can do stuff undercover or unbothered. Or whatever.

Maybe that's why he wanted it.
just read the ending for FT Zero.i thought it was decent, but it felt somwhat lacking.i mean, mavis randomly decides to start a guild, and it is started.and then they supposedly go adventuring after just starting it.well,it was okay though i liked the previous chapters more.
also, what the hell are "trade wars"?and i thought that god serena was acnologia?
