And I come back from the shadows to talk about Marines again!
Kizaru.
Love: Awesome design. That suit is the greatest thing ever. And so are his glasses. Plus, I always liked more realistic Admiral designs. They could actually be consider symbolic, in some ways.
His powers. Beauty in simplicity. He has not the most weird, or most complicated powers in the world of One Piece, but he is not only incredibly devastating, but also fun to watch. The scene where he casualy curbstomps four supernovas is still one of my favorite to this very day.
His character. He is carefree, and seems to take everything lightly⊠and yet, when the situation calls for it, he can be serious. It's a perfect balance. He also seems slightly sarcastic at times, which I also love. He is a perfect fit between Akainu and Aokiji. I also like that for all his lightness, he does not forgive pirate's sins. It is as it should be. Interaction between him and giant squad also suggests some measure of care for his subordinates.
He has, like all Admirals and powerful pirates, incredible presence when on pages. Makes me wish we could've seen him more.
Also, Ishizuka UnshĆ, who was able to take him between light and carefree, and scary and threatning. Love his work on Kizaru's voice.
Loathe: Why are you not wearing hats anymore, Borsalino? They looked good at you.
And I feel the need to mention, because his powers are as usefull as they are, he seems to be getting a short end of the stick every time he is on screen, just so he does not resolve situation by himself. Marineford especially is the main offender here.
Also, he is never allowed to take those headshots. A shame. But that's not really characters fault, but Oda's writing, which I'm okay with.
He also seems to be little underdeveloped at the moment, but I suspect that will be remedied in the future.
All and all... this really should a 4/5.
But I'm biased towards Admirals, so...
Final Judgement: my first 5/5.
