We finally see Death Note in the new Shonen Jump. A few things I would like to point out. The names are right, don't get confused with the scanslation names. Is it me or is the switching between "Death God" and "Shinigami" a bit annoying. The SFX aren't that bad. What does everyone think? Also, I was surprised they had the entire first chapter. Usually it is only the first half.

The translator is AK of Troy from Toriyama World. (Different translator for v1-3, but he checked the translation.) The translation gotta be good. For whoever don't know who AK is… He's the one translated Naruto and HnG back in the days, I believe.
Did both Shinigami and Death God appeared in the chapter?

Shinigami will be used a majority of the time, that's not the problem. Well, actually that IS the problem, Viz doesn't like using the word "God." Some of you may be able to figure out why that could be a problem…
PS. Later on, you'll find a lot of (I mean A LOT OF) translation difference between VIZ version and Orange Tangerine version. Please don't go "OMG, VIZ translation sucks! It's different from OT!!!" It is the OT that was wrong. OT version was translated from Chinese and I noticed the translation inaccuracies while I was revising some of the script for TW/A-T joint use.

Commentary on preview: Gah, I hate the cheap paper. I feel like I'm going to destroy the ink if I touch them for too long! As for the manga itself, well, I know what I like, and THIS IS WHAT I LIKE. Until the bad thing happens. But that's not for a long time.

Anyways, the translation is good. I own the japanese tanks. I may get the US GNs too if it's good and maybe sell the japanese tanks to book-off. I have no idea as to what I am doing as of yet.

Will Viz keep Ooba's weird names like that old British guy's real name, or change it to something more normal?
If spellings are all entrusted to the translator, then they'll keep the official spellings…
looks pretty good for a Viz job. It seems they've done all there recent transations fiarly well, Bobobo, Jojo, and Death Note. Good on ya VIZ.
Yeah I like it, Bobo-bo is something else I wanna check.
I held off on reading DN scants, so I can't say anything about the translation . As far as the manga goes, I like it so far! =)
