Who are you and what have you done to Togashi?
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

Who are you and what have you done to Togashi?

Thanks for the explanation,Lorce, really help me understand the plot.
Anyway, the whole dialog in this chapter is so damn hardcore; if you give this script to Kubo, I'm sure he can draw 30+ Bleach chapters from this. lol
Oh Man, Dark Continent is totally the Gourmet World in every aspect.
…. Damn I barely understood this chapter because of the translation and also because I didn't realize HxH returned last week so I skipped a chapter lol
I needed the, 'Basically They Said This' dialogs. It really was a smart way to sinplify all the political talk. I got the gist of the conversations but not the whole thing.I admit the whole time I was reading this Toriko kept popping to mind.
I never would've guessed that I'd one day just look at an HxH chapter's art, leaving the massive dialogue for later. Togashi sure surprised me.

Well I think toriko was inspired by the gourment hunters in hxh, so now togashi is inspired by toriko, lol.
somebody on 4chan mentioned it, but what do you guys think about the third human coming back from the dark continent being zenos father/mahas son? He has been noticably missing from the series, the zoldyck are definetively a big enough deal and there has to be some sort of reason why Alluka got possessed by that Ai gas form
^This was me, the whole chapter.
I will have to wait until they translate to Portuguese, hopefully the translation is good enough to understand.
Thanks for the summary Lorce! It clarifies a lot of things. This immigration plan sounds a bit strange though. The King of Kakin knows nothing about DC but he is already planning to send so many citizens there?
Anyway, Pariston, Ging, Beyond, the Zodiacs… This arc has some nice potential. I'd like to see some members of the Trope there to spice things a little more.

Could be but he was there with Illumi and Kalluto when the ten dons where killed

What makes you say Alluka was possessed by the Ai Gas form?
@zym:
What makes you say Alluka was possessed by the Ai Gas form?
because she is the only other thing that says "Ai!" all the time
also Silva said she is "not of this world"
wouldn't really surprise me. seems like a very Togashi thing to do
Again, togashi should have introduced the 5 calamities beforehand, so this is an eureka moment, as in "Oh, Aluka!, Those Ruins!, The Devil Sonata!, The Chimera Ants! and That guy that couldn't die!"
Well, there's a bunch of things that could connect later, but before this there weren't that many weird things that can't be explained by nen. And the damn killer song is so perfect to be an evil phenomenon that it's a shame that it isn't.
Well I think toriko was inspired by the gourment hunters in hxh, so now togashi is inspired by toriko, lol.
I think so, too.
In fact, Togashi and Shimabukuro are very close.
Togashi had dinner with Shimabukuro in summer 2012.
Shimabukuro said that Togashi had told him about more than 200 kinds of useful stuff about manga.
Shimabukuro was looking forward to reading chimera ant arc, especially the fight between
Meruem and Netero according to "Jump Versus" released in May 2013.
Thoroughly excited, I wonder if we'll be focusing on ging, beyond or both as the main POV character. Or they could do a bait and switch and do the precursors now and have gon be the one trailing his dad again.
It doesn't make sense though. You'd want to send only the very best in their respective field when creating a troupe to dispatch to a living hell such as the DC. It'd be cool to see him again- in fact, I'd absolutely love it- but it doesn't work contextually.
You never know! Maybe off-screen Leorio finished med school and has already cured cancer, procrastination, and the common cold.

I have a cold. I think i'll punch myself. FOR SCIENCE!
If i don't post in like three hours maybe send help?
In the entrance exam, Leorio responded to all of his questions in the form of a punch. Including an essay. He received an unprecedented 200%.
Well I think toriko was inspired by the gourment hunters in hxh, so now togashi is inspired by toriko, lol.
Yeah, to a certain degree I suspect so. There will always be inspirations, coincidences, and similar themes in popular media especially if they deal in the same genre.
I wouldn't be surprised at all.
I Highly expect the last arc Where Leorio will just punch his friend's grave and he will come back to life. And then they will go on a punching-hike to punch everyone that doesn't believe in universal healthcare.
Gon and Killua have had unofficial teachers that have helped them with their nen. People like Knuckle, Genthru for example. They weren't official teachers like Kite or Biscuit (IMO). They just happened to be around Gon and Killua and saw a need for them to improve and taught them some things
I wonder if Ging may play a similar role to Leorio. He saw something in Leorio during the election arc. He saw enough in Leorio to allow Leorio to get a hit on him in an effort to boost Leorio's image and give him a shot at being the Hunter president. What if Ging and Leorio's paths cross in this arc and Ging decides to teach him a thing or two about nen?
I suppose it isn't likely their path's will cross due to Ging seeming to be headed for DC. An area Leorio isn't likely to be able to survive in. This was just something on my mind
That's not the real DC. Those tiny islands they showed are where Kakin are going to send immigrants and normal people and tell them its the DC while Beyond Netero and his group and the Zodiacs go to the real one beyond the gatekeeper.
That's what I caught anyways.
Oh okay. That makes sense
Can we all just make Leorio spinoff happen?
Chapter 1:
Leorio's Revenge
!

Ging will help Leorio train by being his personal punching bag.
Ooh you guys, stop talking about Leorio already. I really want to see him back in the story now but know it won't happen. ._.
I also want the Spiders to re-appear. Especially Chrollo. <33
Fuck, now I'm uncertain as to whom I want to see back first.
Chrollo, I definitely want to see Chrollo. Make it happen!

Leorio's Fanfic HxH II: Electric Punchaloo just got cancelled cause Enzeru just broke my heart.

Nothing a punch or two can't fix. Lemme get the doctor with the magic fists.

Just go, JUST GO.
Chrollo, I definitely want to see Chrollo. Make it happen!
Not sure why Hisoka now wouldn't want to use Alluka to free Chrollo since s/he can obviously do it. Illumi seems like he fucked up by letting Hisoka help. Hisoka just has to get someone else to use the wish so he won't suffer backlash.
So..real map and known world…I wonder if there is space in HxH universe, i mean do they have satellites? Why they can´t make photos of this "unknown continent"? I guess it´s better to climb a world tree than to use a space shuttle...of course just for training reasons, so hunters can become stronger. lol

Maybe they have a flat world so satellites can't orbit it. Maybe there is no space at all, just an infinite ceiling.
Good lord, Mangastream's translation is at atimes as easy to make out as the fine details of Togashi's worst scribbles.
This will become so much more readable when someone competent picks it up.
"and then they will shift to persuasion manuevers"
I assume barely intelligable nonsense like this is the result of needlessly literal translation, so it's weird of them to stick to it now of all times, when they're known for their liberal translations, especially at times when they crank the cursing up to eleven.

Last week a nice fella from 4chan (I think it was 4chan, at least) made a much, much, much better translation. I guess we could expect that to happen again.
But, regardless of translations. . .honestly, I think all these exposition dumps could've been more exciting on Togashi's part. I mean, was the Beyond-Zodiacs part supposed to be a mind game? A tense scene? A duel of sorts? Is it really so vital to know what that blonde glasses guy has to say (which, in the end, if I understood correctly, was meaningless cause the V5 countries want to go anyways to the DC?) on the matter, or we could have someone we already know do the info dump? Like a well known hunter or something like that? And is it really so important to have massively dense inputs on what the V5 (now. . .V6? or something?) think of the whole situation?
Again, a better translation will surely help (I don't even know if that ending scene was Ging about to face off with Pariston, Ging joining Pariston's group, Ging asking Pariston out on a date, Ging with a severe case of constipation asking Pariston for some laxatives. . .), but I honestly felt like every page was a real hellish pain to go through, and I guess I have a very immature way to look at comic books (aimed for teenagers, btw), but I always expect some kind of entertainment or fun, and these two chapters are the exact opposite of entertaining or fun.
Again, I never understood the massive amounts of love the Election arc gets around these parts, so maybe, in the end, I only like HxH for the adventure and fights?
The DC sounds so intimidating and foreboding. It took 12 volumes to tell the CA arc and like 4 of those volumes covered a time span of 4 minutes or so (the break-in and initial action). I wonder how many volumes it could take to tell the story Togashi has planned for the Dark Continent? As always, I continue wondering when Gyro will come into play in the story. It may be too cliche of an idea, but I also wonder if any evil that resides on the dark continent will come after the public world HXH takes place in following the events of this arc
I see myself years into the future, enjoying the serialization of this arc with my kids

I kinda agree with that feeling.
When I think about "Hunters", I don't think about political stuff. Killua's part was the only thing I truly enjoyed during the Election arc (and the Leorio punch).
Again, I never understood the massive amounts of love the Election arc gets around these parts, so maybe, in the end, I only like HxH for the adventure and fights?
I liked it mainly for the world building, reappearances of tons of characters from the series (many of which we hadn't seen in a long time), the Hisoka fight, and the ending tease for an arc that sounds really promising
Last week a nice fella from 4chan (I think it was 4chan, at least) made a much, much, much better translation. I guess we could expect that to happen again.
Waiting for that too.
The scene is supposed to build upto both the V5 members comment about "using hunter association like this" and Ging comments on Pariston toying with the hunter association.
From the scene you have zodiacs who are asked by Isaac Netero to have the association be the forefront in this new discovery, they have their hunters pride in that they don't want to imprison their competitor (Netero says they must get there before Beyond) and the V5/6 using them as pawns in order to do their "business".
There is little Togashi loves more than exploring greed, politics and motivation, he creates characters that can act on their own later. So in this we have V5 who are treating the calamaties as nothing more than rumour (and even spreading propaganda possibly, if the TV station wasn't Kakins) if it means that they will gain wealth of this new continent (old V5 guy saying foot the bill and wait for results). Again NW and DC are names of Africa and America, the colonization and exploitation of the natural resources and how wealthy it made the participants. V6 will explore this new continent due to Kakins pursuit (think Gol D Rogers declaration, it can't be undone), but they will do it in their sneaky ways by going along with parts of it and derailing other parts. Beyond will still get his travel (he was the one who pushed Kakin into believing they could pull it off), but the V6 will think it's under their conditions (his capture and negotiation are all planned by him), however V5 has decided that the having millions of humans going there is too much so they will just chose a fake continent for them to settle in. Kakin is doing it for the sake of his country, getting all that wealth etc. they will accept joining V5 and also Beyonds role, but they will probably not accept to limit the travelers.
Beyond plans everything and he is exposing his hand here, explaining how the different conditions lead to the outcome. Cheadle is naive (always portrayed that way) and believes there are some rules that will be enforced and in the V5. He explains their role in this and motivations etc. but if it comes from him (don't forget character naration is not true in HxH, it's their observation) it will be speculation, so he explains it to her while we find it out directly from the blonde guy.
The blonde guy goes through "common facts" that readers aren't awarre of, updating us on the previous chapter in just how awesome DC is. The blonde guy is essensially the narator for Beyond, saying everything that has been predicted by him, Cheadle is supposed to be the one who is being persuaded in this conversation when the prisoner is Beyond.
This is all useless in the short term as you know Hunters hunt for something and motivated by something else, Togashi wants to build the world the next are will explore and the characters involved. Pariston and Ging are easy to understand, but some reluctant hunter will also be going, this chapter explains their motivation. Without NGL exploration we wouldn't understand how modern world in HxH could not get information on the ants. Or why the Hunter association failed to send the right guys causing more problems for Neteros group. Or how the development of the ants (which starts from a little hill) gives us insight into their downfall.
This arc already interests me on a very basic level, because this is basically a horror movie setup we've all seen a thousand times. Togashi being Togashi, I'm eagerly anticipating how he plays on our expectations.

Seeking out the unknown also seems like a perfect premise for an arc about hunters
TBH my allure for pretty much every shonen manga is for the sentimental reasons: Strawhats fulfilling their dreams, Naruto becoming Hokage, Gon finding his father.
Usually those goals change over the course of the story or take the backburner behind other new goals, and obviously that's changed for HxH. The chapter where Gon met Ging was the most overwhelmingly underwhelming thing I've ever read. So now, I just hope to see Gon and the old gang fighting and hunting together again.

because zoldyk family
I asked someone to Photoshop Leorio punching someone for me and he ended up photoshopping him punching MLK.
I need to see that. For research purposes.
