I liked the first Majin Buu better. He was pink and squishy.

In college I made an amv out of the last Cell fight…I should post it one day. I didn't even have to try to lip sync the video to the music. They talk so much it matches up without effort lol.
Perhaps we can discuss how truly great of a character Meruem is? He's one of my favorites in the entire series. His regal speech, intellect, and kingly disposition–despite being an homage to Cell, the latter cannot compare. I know I gush over the Chimera Ant arc a lot, but it's always so fascinating to come back to.
I sort of hope that Gyro is similar in terms of intellect, though I've always assumed that he would speak as a proletarian (given that he was raised among them). If Meruem is a proponent of autocratic fascism, is it safe to assume (through his foundation of NGL, anyways) that Gyro is a communist? I never imagined that Hunter x Hunter would become so political, but this seems to be the direction the series is taking. Togashi set up his world quite well for this.

I thought he sucked honestly :/
Although I was comparing him to Togashi's other villains.
Pretty much every villain he had up to the point we're insanely good (especially the Yu-Yu Hakusho villains), but Meruem was just a massive letdown because of how un-original he was.

Unoriginal in what sense? Design? Pfft.
The King was Cell done RIGHT.
Unspeakable all powerful god monster created to rule the world that no one can truly fight… but while Toriyama just went "cocky bastard", Togashi explored what that might actually do to his personality and examined his humanity and emotion and feelings for others. Far, FAR better character, puts Cell to utter shame.
(Would have been out of place in Dragonball... but much better character all the same.)

Look past the design being similar to cell and how he developed as a character, he was a really good villain
I hate the Ant arc and even I think Mereum was a pretty great villain. His relationship with Komugi was the highlight of the arc.

Yes, primarily.
And his whole personality was basically the same as cell. The only thing that was different was the storyline and how he became more soft-hearted towards humans. They were essentially the same character in my opinion.
Yes, Togashi did better than Toriyama but I think Togashi is original enough that he didn't need to steal a character (and a completely shitty one at that).
Granted, the fight with Netero was one of the most badass fights of the series, and all of the other fights were pretty good. I just thought Mereum was a garbage villain.

You're letting the design color your perceptions, I think. There is a world of difference between those two.
I like how the girl with short dark hair was fleshed out a little bit (had more lines) in this episode compared to her moment in the manga. I always thought she was cute

Other than his sense of superiority, not in the least,no.
Can you imagine Cell maturing and deciding to respect life because he lost a chess game? Of course not.
His suicide move when he lost to Gohan alone should show the world or difference between the two characters.
His ability to absorb other people's aura was similar to cell's power to absorb people and gain their power level, but yeah, beyond that and the design, very different characters
It's finally Monday, now where is that big HXH anime news? :)

waiting on Shonen Jump scans.. I'm hoping its gonna be GOOD news!
Sweet can't wait!!!!
It's finally Monday, now where is that big HXH anime news? :)
Uhh, it's on Monday 25th.
It will probably be online this Wednesday though.
Weekly Shonen Jump comes out every Monday in Japan. But often it's online the previous Wednesday.
For example, the Jump that came out today in Japan, has the mangas that were online on Wednesday 13th, as Naruto 620.
So… the Jump that will came out next Monday (25th), will be online this Wednesday (20th).
^^^I see thanks for the clarification
I was on another board discussing a big gripe I have in Shonen manga is how often supporting characters are mishandled (Bleach, DB, Naruto). I think one thing I love about HXH is how well it not only handles supporting main characters (leorio, Kurapica) but also c-list supporting characters (the art guy who helped out Gon during the Yorkshin arc, the bald ninja hunter, etc) we seem to always see them pop up and when they do I feel seeing what they've been up to adds alot to the overall world of HXH. For example, in the CA arc we see that despite never becomming an official hunter, that bug girl learned nen and still does work as an amateur hunter
OP handles supporting casts exceptionally as well
For example, in the CA arc we see that despite never becomming an official hunter, that bug girl learned nen and still does work as an amateur hunter
And then she dies.
Btw,I saw the adaptation of Level E,another one of Togashi's works, and couldn't help feeling that there was a bit of Togashi in Prince Baka…if you know what I mean.
Oops. Some stuff about scribbles :ninja:.
@Cyclone Baroness: aint that magi? o_O
I have no idea what you're talking about~
soo, One piece is on break this week, does this mean that there will be no HxH episode too? : (

"There will be no new episode this week/There was no new episode this past week. That is all."

In other news: Scientists found out that humans need to breathe air if they want to keep living.
I'm shocked to the bottom of my heart!
What the hell is "shocking" about this?Did they simply want to create hype on nothing,or were they seriously planning to stop at Greed Island at some point?
Here's the announcement scan.
!
April, why are you so far away.. sigh
I guess "shocking" was just a bad translation from AnimeNewsNetwork.
It was just an important announcement.
We have been waiting a long time to see this ambitious and controversial arc animated. Can't wait
GREAT! This is so exciting.
Who are the two ants to the right of the ten-arm guy?

They're fodder taken out relatively quickly near the beginning of the arc. At least the female looking one. Killua makes quick work of her

Thought so, I just didn't recall seeing them in the arc.
The centaur Ant was probably one of the more crazy ones iirc. Wasn't he dragging around humans and stuff?
One of the most infamous scene of HxH, the brain-picking…. I fear will be censored.

Yes, how dare the Japanese censors deprive children of that beautiful image.

I am more interested in how they will handle the end of the arc.

Maybe it will be ok if they make it blue like in magi :ninja:

Actually, it will be interesting to see how they handle all the internal narration.
Yeah, and all that "AND THEN THE DOOR OPENED" as you see it being opened type of overblown narration.
That really kinda annoyed me back when I was reading it.
Yes, how dare the Japanese censors deprive children of that beautiful image.
It's actually kinda funny you mention that, cartoons were far more trauma inducing when I was their age.

Ah yes. Japan's long-held national heritage of traumatizing children. You must be very proud.
Yeah well, it was a small price to pay for having actually good sci-fi series around instead of GI Joes and He-mans.
So it's all good.
What's the brain-picking image again?
Ahiru No Quack was really depressing sometimes.
Actually, it will be interesting to see how they handle all the internal narration.
Hire a good narrator obviously, duh.
But seriously, it will be very interesting to see episodes with around 90% internal monologue while we get stillshots on faces with shocked expressions.

Hey, whatever works for you, cuz. As for us here in the States, we've mastered the art of quality children's programming, minus the trauma.
