Do you guys think that at the exam level Hisoka had Nen? I was rewatching earler remake episodes of the anime and there was a point where Hisoka tries to provoke Netero(when Netero was questioning them about who they had their eyes on and such) and I was wondering if he could even offer a challenge to Netero. In your opinions could he have at least made the old man take him seriously?
Also do you guys think Hanzo should make a comeback? I honestly loved that character and if Togashi can bring back the arrow guy I think he should bring back Hanzo because he is the only winner in Gon's year we haven't seen yet. Hopefully we'll see him as part of the team that goes to the dark continent perhaps to look for more super awesome Ninja scrolls(if he even was a ninja in the first place)
Hanzo made a brief appearance during the last arc.
Yes, Hisoka knew Nen at the exams. I think when Wing reveals the secret hunter exam it is also mentioned that Illumi and Hisoka already knew nen.

Hmm, would it be to much of a bother to ask you to post where he was shown. Thanks
@RobbyBevard:
That's still two years away, and no, slowing down the anime won't make a difference when Togashi isn't making anything for entire years at a time.
Yeah that is true. I just thought stretching out the buffer they have might help for the future.
God dam#it! TOGASHI!
Yeah… it doesn't matter. Even a bi-weekly show is going to catch up (since its generally two or even three chapters per episode without filler) when the source just isn't making anything new. And... no series is going to schedule bi-weekly. Ever. That would just confuse the viewers.
Weekly, no question of it catching up... luckily the end of the election arc is a reasonable open ended ending point.
There's also the fact that it's absolutely ripping through the manga's chapters. They did about 3.5 this episode (they rearranged a lot of stuff, like when the Phantom Troupe arrived, when the Bomber explosion happened, etc.) They adapted content all the way from chapter 144 to 148.
Also, I completely approve of that instrumental of Requiem being used whenever jaw-dropping shit goes down.
So since the anime will inevitably end. How big are the chances of OVA'S being made in the future? (Assuming there is even any material to play with )
Pretty good right? I mean its already on its second anime with a decent budget per episode, and 2 sets of OVA'S for crying out loud.
All depends on how much output Togashi has. Greed Island got OVAed last time, but if they flat out catch up and he only does 10 oe 20 chapters a year, there won't be much point to doing more.
Maybe in another 10 years it can have a third anime.
@RobbyBevard:

And we can watch the York Shin arc all over again! (For the third time…)
I would have figured the studio can just keep going with up to the last bit of the manga we have now without further issue. Not like they are having that issue of the manga not being long enough so they have to make up stuff.
Assuming Togashi puts out bugger all contant in the next year.
They would be better off adapting the Ant arc then stopping.
More can be made if and when Togashi gets off his ass.
Question is as fans can we accept them making their own filler arcs while waiting for Togashi, I mean there are a lot of things to explore in that world and I think that it would work for the better if the did that. Ah well just do the ant arc and I'll be content, although has Togashi ever offered his input on the anime? I know Oda makes it a point to make everyone know that Toei has his blessings but he won't interfere unless they are messing up some parts of the manga(devil fruits, established characters) how do the other authors think about their anime?
And on that note how does the anime industry handle this stuff, is it like Hollywood where once you've sold the rights to the movie you're irrelevant or do they strive to work with the authors>
I'm wondering what Japanese fans think about Togashi… are they impatient too? are they cursing Togashi on japanese forums? and when Togshi read their thoughts, he is like "ungreatfull assholes, next time my leave is going to be even bigger you jerks, I'm gonna take fucking 2 years this time, that will show you"
They should get through the Ant arc(which, btw,is huge.Big enough to last a little while) and then the Election arc and then stop.
As Robby has said more than a couple of times,it's a more than decent stopping point.Hell,if you guys remember, quite a few folks believed that the entire story was ending there, even after the reveal of HxH's own "New World".Only when Togashi pulled out Beyound Netero(that's a weird name, really) storyline were these worries put to rest.
So yeah, stop there, maybe even while leaving out the whole cliffhanger stuff.
Given the actual pace the ant arc will last for 8-9 months (if not less).
I doubt Madhouse would rush the ant arc seeing as that's the arc everyone has been waiting to be animated, if they have sense they will milk that arc for all its worth

There won't be filler arcs. Thats what you do to keep pace with ongoing series. With Togashi's hiatuses, there's no stopping the inevitable.

They'll consult with the authors if they have specific questions (like a character color scheme) or take the author's wishes into account, (this actor would be good for this character) but usually the author is too busy with their work to have much involvement.
They haven't even finished the Election arc yet.
There is no point adapting it yet, there is clearly more to that story

Everyhing related to the election ended when Cheadle became president. I don't see what more you do expect from it.
Unless you're talking about Pariston's coccoons or Illumi, but that's another story.

Pretty much this. As far as I'm concerned hxh is done. To continue the next arc that he set up would take years, and put hxh on the same completion timeline as one piece.
Given how his hiatus record is, the fact that he pretty much (and pretty quickly since coming back from his last hiatus timed witht he anime) planned to end the manga there, but left that one last part "just in case" he wanted to continue.

Which is ironic to be brought up in the thread, considering this isn't the case with Togashi. :ninja:
Why won't he just finish this one and get over with it. Does he even wanna do this or does he even care about it? Heck I'll take his half-ass doodles each week rather than this.
^^He definitely cares about HXH. He hasn't pulled a YYH on the series. He came back to the series and finished the CA arc, he gave us a great arc right after that with the election arc. He pushed for another anime (I'm sure it wasn't just his idea, I'm sure he was approached about a new anime, but he still seems supportive of it due to his involvement with the movie and another movie coming out)
^^He definitely cares about HXH.
That image truly is the final word in any Hunter x Hunter related discussion.
Just got caught up.
The last arc felt a helluvalot like dbz. Primarily because King looked like Cell/Frieza.

More cell than frieza if you ask me. I thought it was just lazy.
Does anyone actually know if Toriyama complained about it?

Why would he, it's not like they're the same character.
It's not like he could remember Cell anyways.

Not like Cell was a character worth remembering.
Or realy a character at all.
He was voiced by Norio Wakamoto.
You can't forget anything voiced by Norio Wakamoto.

BTW,does anyone remeber how HxH fared in the TOC ratings?
HxH is usually pretty low in the TOC rankings, not that it matters since the volumes sell pretty well.
Ah,really?
Any reason for it ranking low?Scribbles?Readers not being enthralled by that one series that goes on and off,or even following it at all?
I think it's mostly because, if I'm remembering correctly, the TOC polls are mostly kids' votes and given HxH's schedule there tends not to be too many kids following it. Or something. If someone who doesn't have a shit memory wants to correct me on this please feel free to.

Well yeah, aside from looking kinda cool for 10 year old me and OMG Kamehameha he really wasn't anything special.
Still it's not like Toriyama could remember any character at all.

Well, aside from the fact that it would take eight weeks to even rank it properly after a hiatus (I assume it's ranks from before the hiatus started don't carry over), it's as you say that kids (and probably teens and older too) are less likely to vote for a comic that just kinda plops back into the magazine, mid-story.
The scribbly art probably doesn't help either.

Please, thousands of 20-something and older year old folks all around the world disagree with you. Cell was one of the most badass villains on the most popular anime in the west ever. His designs and concept alone are worth remembering.

Indeed, no wonder Togashi ripped him off.
Plus Norio Wakamoto.

Not likely, but what if the manga is discontinued and when the anime reaches the manga's end point, it will continue while being directed by Togashi? That way good ol' lazy Togashi won't have to draw anything anymore.

i actually thought about that a few weeks ago. It's like the best possible solution lol
shocking announcement
They ran out of budget so they'll be adopting the trademark scribbles as the premier animation style for Chimera Ant arc!

As much as I love the manga this would be incredible

Cell was a terrible character and a forgettable villain who looked stupid in his second form, and generic in his final.

And came back to life way too many times.
The only reason I finished watching the series as a kid was so that I could discuss it with my friends.
First form was cool though, a scorpion cicada with Kamehameha is always cool in my book.
