Rpgs are fun! ff8 was not good…ff9 was alright, but I didn't like any of the characters enough to really care.

Last few rpgs I had fun with were Lost Oddesy, Eternal Sonata, Tales Legendia, Kingdom Hearts 2.

Edits: Er and Skyrim.

I've played from start to finish, DQ1, DQ2, DQ3, DQ5, DQ6, DQ7, DQ8, FF1, FF2, FF3, FF4, FF5, FF6, FF8, FF9, FF10, FF10-charliesangelbullshit.

Oddly eough never finished DQ4 or FF7, even though I know how it goes.
Watched a friend finish it, which might be the reason why I never did. Lol.

Nearly all of them real-time, since the mid 80s.

I love how in Dragon Quest 1 you don't have anything like a party. Unless you count Erdrick/Loto and his massive balls going around beating up a Dragonlord solo like it ain't no thing.

They're not for everyone, but Final Fantasy (probably the most known due to a butt load of advertising) is not the best series to get into RPGs.

Especially since the later games started getting notoriously long intros before you really get into the meat of the game.

If you were going to start with an RPG in this day and age, I'd check out Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga for GBA (and the Golden Suns if you want). I don't think its possible to hate that game.

Mario & Luigi is a tad different from the "norm" of RPGs, its turn based, but you manually control everything.

Another RPG series to check out is the Tales series.

However, I do love the crap out of "just strategize" RPGs, especially when they're challenging.

Japanese RPGs are mostly an uncharted ground for me.I've played FFXIII and didn't find it particulary enjoyable.I tried Chrono Trigger and a couple of other classic titles on an emulator and enjoyed them to a significantly greater degree,but couldn't really get all that far(I'm never able to when comes to emulation).

However,from what I've played with Fire Emblem on my Wii,I can safely conclude that Tactical style of turn-based RPGs appeals to me way,way,way more.I got really addicted to that stuff and got to the last act…and then my Wii went out of commission.I swear,if I get around to fixing it,it will mostly be for the sake of Fire Emblem.

Replace "best thing" with "most horrible abomination" and it'd be more accurate. In fact, the programming was so bad on that game there was a dungeon you could actually skip… about halfway through, the one in the giant tree... all you had to do was walk one screen to the right and you'd automatically continue the plot without even doing the dungeon.

It's cute and a neat link to Greed Island being a game. What's particularly cute about it is Killua's voice. The anime sure isn't painting him as the as-dark-as-my-soul type that he could be by a lesser adaptation.

I've always liked the fact that Ging's note to Gon essentially just says to enjoy the hunt. Killua's audience analysis was also particularly well-done.

Are there any other mangaka who has been able to overcome the editors like Togashi has? Even Toriyama was convinced by them to continue his manga twice, but Togashi seems immune to their legendary statuses in manga.

Yeah, his best friend and influence, Hagiwara.
Although ultimately he moved to Ultra Jump, he still continues the "I'll have a chapter whenever the hell I want" attitude.

That is correct. Which is a shame since I rather like Bastard!! but unlike Togashi whom I have confidence that he'll finish the story at some point in the far off future Hagiwara on the other hand ehh not so much.
