He said it last episode, remember? Or well, the episode before (didn't count the recap). He wants to be a Hunter but he won't use his License until he pays back Hisoka with a punch so he can return the 44 badge. He's not going to be able to punch out Hisoka of all people without training somehow, right? XP

On the new ending, REALLY enjoyed it. Hearing it gave me such a nostalgia feel for some of the old Saint Seiya themes, and getting to see so many upcoming characters animated was just perfect! I'm glad that this arc seems to be a bit more exciting as well since the last one was so… I dunno, anti-climatic? Here's hoping I'm not going to be disappointed!

Yep. But it goes a bit beyond that. Gon didn't mention anything about Hisoka when he had that thought–he intended to get to the 200th floor not only for the sake of training. Stay tuned; it gets really fun from here.

If you're talking about how the internalizations of all the characters were narrated in great detail, then I'm pretty sure it was just a stylistic choice on Togashi's part. Your mileage may vary on how effective it was.

actually i was just referring to the art. For a stretch of chapters the art seems to lose all detail, then gains it back for a few then loses it again? i was just wondering why

Ah, I see. Well, there have been a lot of rumors and speculations on this thread, which include:

-Togashi has been sick
-Togashi refuses to take assistants
-Togashi is just lazy and likes to play Dragon Quest

I personally find the second one to be the most likely candidate (though a could be a combination of all three), and be warned that the crappy art has pretty much become a regular thing now. Not that every chapter's art is crappy, but he goes through periods of shitty art.

Lot's of the scans use the weekly jump releases. Togashi redraws the crappy art chapters for the manga/tankobon releases.

I really hope he redraws the newer ones when his arm was affected by the flu shot. The art really ruined all of my care for Kaito's chat with the Koala.

I really want to know what happened between Hisoka and him. Hisoka didn't even mention it last time we saw him.

Hisoka wanted to fight him, Chrollo couldn'tn fight due to the fact that if he used nen the chain around his heart placed by kurapika would pierce and kill him instantly. So now Chrollo is off somewhere walking by himself. Hisoka wants to fight Chrollo once his powers have returned as of right now Chrollo is of no interest to Hisoka.

Hisoka only kills if he doesn't see room for improvement in the person. Chrollo might be special, who knows. Since Chrollo's ability could allow for a different fight every time, Hisoka might have let him live in hopes of a new fight.

Chrollo is very competent however, he could've also escaped without fight Hisoka at all, but Hisoka said he played with him right?

I just watched episode 28. Great stuff as usual lately. And the return of the lovely Hisoka always makes it better lol.

I kinda have to wonder if Wing lives in an empty building. If I lived in an apartment where I felt someone's overwhelming killing intent and random earthquakes from destroyed walls…I'd have to move out lol. Also unless he has a repair walls nen ability I doubt he's getting his deposit back.

I'm pretty sure the killing intent is directable at target(s) of your choice, or the receptionist lady/zushi/random bystander would have felt the aura from Hisoka/Wing.

Or they just have nen and are actively or passively blocking the aura with their own. I doubt this though, despite how plausible it may be.

I'm really excited to watch the next episode for a lot of reasons. However, I first want to remind any new viewers of a scene in which they may have forgotten. Episode 16 of the Madhouse version.

During the Fourth Phase of the Hunter Exam, Gon acquires Hisoka's badge and is immediately defeated by Geretta after. There was an interesting filler scene in the space between Geretta's departure and Hisoka's arrival. The boy has a butterfly waft over to his closed fist, bandaged and bloodied. The butterfly floats away and soon becomes entangled within a spider's web. Helpless, it struggles until its demise. Gon watches this entire scene and winces in frustration.

And then after Hisoka knocks the boy out, he's entirely defeated without the ability to change this incredibly frustrating situation (which leads him to cry for the very first time in the series).

Next. The ending scene, following Gon's confrontation with Hisoka. Night. Gon lies within the hollow of a tree, awake with an expression of anger in his eyes. Again, a butterfly wafts over to Gon's closed fist. But this time, the scene zooms in even closer to the boy's expression so that the viewer is given a better look. Gon isn't just angered–he's furious. However, the viewer isn't given access to his thoughts.

Consider these moments.

I just watched the latest episode. It was pretty spiffy.

! I like that they also had the additional scene of how Kurapika met his Nen teacher. I don't think we saw how they met in the original. Nice little touch. Next episode should be awesome hopefully.

The last episode was seriously underwhelming for me. Great art and animation but it lacks the little gory and perverted parts which make the Kastro-Hisoka fight brilliant and that are fundamental parts of Hisoka's personality = Hisoka biting his own severed arm.

Thirty years or so ago, Hokuto no Ken was one of the bloodiest and goriest anime ever (and it was sold as a shounen!!!!). Today they replace blood coming from a severed arm with…. glittering orange dust??? Come on.

Um, no it wasn't.
The anime was heavily, heavily censored compared to the manga.
Also the original HxH anime skipped this fight entirely.

I think we did ok, to be honest.

It didn't skip it fully. They edited out the part of him eating his arm in a way it wasn't too clear what he did, but it did show his arm was gone. Gon and Killua were watching the video of the fight during the learning process.

The first anime has a dub. I dont think they ever did any of the OVAs though. It's a very popular series so assumedly it'll eventually have some sort of dub. Dubs NEVER start close to the Japanese version though.

Anyways I just bought Volumes 1-21 on eBay for a hundred dollars. Now to waiting and figuring out what I'm doing with the doubles of Volumes 1-7 I'll have once these get here.

I just watched Episode 31. I liked it, it felt a bit slow, but it was more of a build up espide it seemed. Can't get enough if Hisoka lol. And why was Gon and Killu's corner about the wheelchair guy?

Just seemed weird to give away info on a character we hadn't seen in action yet. I guess they didn't do Kastro cause technically, Gon hasn't seen that fight, so he shouldn't be able to comment on it.
