I'm challenging my recent ban not only because "a dumbass", which frankly is just lack of tact, but frankly was a quick pull on their trigger finger.

Yesterday I was flamed out of my mind because I was so speechless on how petty this whole manhatten bombing was, with the bombers in mind. A user felt it was necessary to twist my words to act like this event is small, that the bombing was also small and thus irrelevant. This is not the case. A moderator, who clearly has relation to this incident, told me to shut up after clarifying. I quickly corrected him/her whatever that I'm not the one picking a fight here, just someone word twisting my original post.

Then today, I saw there was an earthquake in the middle east and made a point of it, stating it would sure suck if the aftershocks hit the east coast like years ago. Where a user claimed I was being "inconsiderate" by not stating the 30 or so people that died. Unfortunately I did not see they had a damage toll, just that the earthquake that happened, so I quickly pointed that out to get banned.

For what reason? Nothing I said was intended to be offensive, nor was snarky, it was just simply discussion fodder. And "being a dumb ass" doesn't really answer my question besides someone who is emotionally involved is reading it as if I have a spiteful intention. Again, I request it's looked into because this is ridiculous, and anyone is welcome to read the posts to point out the offensive content, or even anything that can be taken out of context.

I have no desire to argue or contest this, I just want to share my view. I fully respect the mods' decisions about dealing with this, but I personally also feel that this was a tad premature. I've seen a number of Khaini's conversations which I can only imagine contributed to his ban, and I feel like most of them involved a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding on multiple parties' parts - which are actually quite easily resolved with proper reading and the benefit of the doubt. I feel like over time, if Khaini settled down a little more, things would have been all right. And I've never actually seen him insult anyone on the forum; he might be rude when he feels like he's been attacked, but based on what I've seen of this forum, that doesn't really seem like a bannable offense on its own (and I know it wouldn't have been the only reason either). Plus it's kinda apparent that he's used to harsher places on the Internet.

I obviously don't know the exact details but I can guess, and I feel like a significant part of what Khaini got banned for might be a misunderstanding. And to be completely honest, if everyone would calm down a little (I don't mean the mods), there might not be an actual problem. I've seen Khaini get baited and dragged into stuff that's meant to be a joke as well, so yeah. I know this is the Internet and all the rules are clear and stuff, so you're responsible for your own actions (or words). And the mods, of course, decide what's best for the forum in general, and I'm totally okay with that. I just wanted to add on to this thread that I've been reading conversations and talking to people and I kinda think this is a matter that could have been solved with time and maybe a calmer explanation. Khaini obviously doesn't understand what being "warned for being a douchebag" means if he still doesn't think he wronged anybody (which I know), so it's kinda hard to make him change that way. Not asking the mods to do extra work, just seems a little… like I said, premature. Not in terms of actions, since warnings were apparently sent and that's respectful & reasonable, but just in terms of time, I suppose.

There were no warning, this website lacks any professorial tact whats so ever. You said it yourself, you just outright ban people, so if there were warnings I suggest you actually present them. Wow, that apology is much more sincere and heartfelt than the first one!

For future record folks, for those that are curious, THIS is what an infraction looks like. See the little red card? Its invisibile to other members, but you and the mods can see it and it goes onto your permanent record!

If you behave you'll never see one pop up in your PM box or on one of your posts. Because you see, when an infraction is given, it automatically sends you a pm and records a copy in the moderator control panel and the moderator's personal PM box!

And best of all, the staff doesn't even need to tell you personally that you're a douchebag, it's one of the options we have by default!

Typically, if you get two infractions in the course of an hour, are arguing with every single person on the forum, and several different mods are telling you to stop what you're doing, that is a fairly clear sign that you are doing something wrong.

Sometimes, in the case of a clear blatant trolling from brand new members, we'll skip the formalities, but we generally try to give folks at least a couple warnings and a chance to fix what they're doing.

More on topic, for what it's worth, I do have to agree that banning Khaini was a poor idea. I mean, as a mod, Robby, you have to think not just about yourself, but the health of the forum as a whole. By banning him, you have no doubt set in motion the crushing force that all his wealth will bring to bear (BEAR JOKE!) against us, an unstoppable vindictiveness of internet vigilantism. In short, you have doomed us all.

I was starting to feel a little bad until I found the notes that showed Khani was actually banned back in December and it was undone then. Then he made a new account and pleaded his case nicely, and I undid it then. Totally forgot about that.

And yes, those are all real screencaps. Unnecessary perversion would be explicit descriptions of sexual things or posting of obscene images.

Intentionally going off topic is hardly ever used, it has to be a fairly obvious intentional trolling of a derailment…. but natural casual segueing of topics keeps its use down pretty much... and sometimes an off topic derailing is for humorous effect or even encouraged depending on the thread.
