Enter 2018. In the United States, the unemployment level is only 1%, and the crime rate is lower than ever.
How?
Because one night a year, for 12 hours, people are allowed to do whatever they want, without consequence.
"The Purge" is set to release May 31st of this year, and stars Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) and Ethan Hawke (Sinister)
The first trailer was released just a few days ago.
Honestly, it is definitely an interesting premise, and, even if it seems like the plot of the movie could have been easily avoided, (why leave your daughter alone in the very important security room?) it looks somewhat good. However since we're just now hearing about it, only eight weeks from release, I'm rather worried.
Writer / Director James DeMonaco hasn't really done anything of note outside of "The Negotiator*" so that also worries me.
All that said I'll still probably check it out during a matinee, unless it gets really good reviews.
*I am not saying that "The Negotiator" is a noteworthy movie.
